Characters feel impossible until you see how they're built. These workbooks start there: stroke order rules you can apply to any character, the radicals and components that repeat across thousands of words, and the look-alike pairs that catch everyone out.

Then they move from recognising characters to writing with them, from typing your first messages in pinyin to guided paragraphs and essays at HSK 4, 5 and 6. There's a first-characters tracing book for children too. For copying practice with words you choose, the worksheet generator prints tracing sheets.
