## How to use this book

Print the cards on card stock, cut along the dashed lines and keep each topic in its own envelope. Then 10 minutes a day: 2 of audio, 5 of a game, and 3 asking 这是什么？ with today's eight cards.

- Day 1: Print, cut and sort. Print the 12 card pages, cut them out together and put each topic in an envelope. Start with the topic your child likes best.
- Each day: Eight cards. Play the topic's words on the free audio, say each one back, then ask 这是什么？ as you hold up each card.
- Each day: Three piles. Sort cards into words your child says alone, words they say with help, and new words. Move a card one pile up when it sticks.
- Twice a week: A game. Pick one of the six games on page 15 and tick it when you've tried it. Bao says works with the My Body cards.
- After 12 topics: Mix the topics. Shuffle two or three envelopes together for Memory and Snap, so old words come back.

## Who it's for

Children aged 3 to 7 starting Mandarin, with a parent, carer or teacher. Ages 3 to 4 hear the word and point; ages 5 to 7 can start to read the pinyin.

Before you start: Nothing. Every card has the word in characters and pinyin under the picture, and the free audio reads every card with a pause after each word. You'll need a printer, card stock and scissors.

## How do I print the cards?

Print the card pages on card stock, eight cards to a page, and cut along the thick dashed lines. Keeping each of the 12 topics in its own envelope makes it easy to pick today's eight cards.

## What age are they for?

Ages 3 to 7. Younger children only need to hear the word and point to the card; from about 5, children can start to read the pinyin under the picture.

## Is there audio?

Yes. The free audio on this book's page reads all 96 cards, with a pause after each word so you can say it back together.

## Is this workbook free?

Yes. The whole 15-page PDF is free, and you can look through its pages here before you download. There's no card and nothing to pay.

## Do I need a SayMei account?

Yes, to download the PDF, and the account is free: sign up with Google, Apple or your email address. With it we email you a copy of the workbook, keep every workbook you download on your account on all your devices, save your place in the free online practice, and you can practise speaking with Mei Lin, SayMei's AI tutor.

## How do I print it?

The PDF is US Letter size. On A4 paper, choose "Fit to page" (or "Scale to fit") in the print dialog so nothing is cut off. Print the whole workbook or only the pages you need; colour looks best, and black and white works too.

## Can I print copies for my class or my children?

Yes. Print as many copies as you like for your own class or family. To share it, send this page: everyone can download their own copy.
