再听一次吧！ (Zài tīng yí cì ba!) — Let's listen one more time!

## By the end you can

- Sit four full HSK 2 listening sections. Four sets of 25 all-new questions, about 17 minutes each, with the parts and timing of the new HSK 2 listening section (HSK 3.0). Every recording plays twice.
- Decide whether a picture matches what you hear. Part 1 has five sentences. Hear each twice, then mark √ if the picture matches it and × if it doesn't. 外面很冷，多穿一点儿衣服。 (Wàimiàn hěn lěng, duō chuān yìdiǎnr yīfu.): It's cold outside. Put on some more clothes.
- Match a short dialogue to a picture. Part 2 has ten two-line dialogues at home, at work and at school. Choose the picture that shows the scene. 十二点了，你怎么还不睡？ (Shí'èr diǎn le, nǐ zěnme hái bú shuì?): It's twelve o'clock. Why aren't you asleep yet?
- Answer a question about a dialogue. Part 3 has ten dialogues, each followed by a question on who, when, where or why. 六点半，我要做早饭。 (Liù diǎn bàn, wǒ yào zuò zǎofàn.): Half past six. I have to make breakfast.
- Hear HSK 2 grammar in real exchanges. The dialogues use patterns like 比 for comparing, 呢 for actions in progress and 就 for one thing right after another. 好，地铁比公交车快。 (Hǎo, dìtiě bǐ gōngjiāochē kuài.): OK, the subway is faster than the bus.
- Read every recording with pinyin and English. The transcripts print every line of all four sets in characters, pinyin and English, so you can find the word that caught you out.
- Score each set and choose what comes next. The answer key has a score box for each part of each set. At 60% or more, go on to the next set. Below that, the book points you to SayMei's HSK 2 word and reading books first.

## How to use this book

One set a sitting, about 17 minutes plus time to mark and review. Four sets make four sessions over a week or two.

- Before you start: Set up. Print the set and its answer sheet from page 23. Sit somewhere quiet with headphones.
- About 17 minutes: Play the whole set. Play the whole set without pausing, as in the exam. Each recording plays twice. Mark your answers as you go.
- Afterwards: Mark it. Check your answers with the key on page 46 and fill in the score box for each part.
- Afterwards: Replay your weakest part. Play that part's track again while you read its transcript, and listen for the words you missed.
- Before the next set: Say it aloud. Read the transcript aloud after the speakers, line by line, until you can say each line at their speed.

## Who it's for

Learners preparing for HSK 2 on the new HSK 3.0 exam who want more listening practice than one mock test gives, and teachers who want four listening sets with audio for a class.

Before you start: The HSK 1 and HSK 2 words. If you score below 60% on Set 1, spend some time on the HSK 2 words before the next set.

## What's in each set?

25 questions in three parts. Part 1: hear five sentences and mark each picture √ or ×. Part 2: match ten two-line dialogues at home, at work and at school to pictures. Part 3: answer a question on who, when, where or why after each of ten more dialogues. Four sets make 100 questions.

## How is this different from the HSK 2 mock tests?

A mock test has one listening section as part of a full paper. This book gives you four new listening sections in the same format, so you can practise listening on its own.

## How long does each set take?

About 17 minutes played straight through, as in the exam, plus time to mark it with the key on page 46 and replay your weakest part. Four sets make four sessions over a week or two.

## Where is the audio, and can I read what I heard?

On this book's free listening page: a whole-set track for each set and a track for every part. The transcripts print every line of all four sets in characters, pinyin and English, so you can find the word that caught you out.

## What if I score below 60% on a set?

Spend some time on the HSK 2 words first. The answer key points you to the HSK 2 Vocabulary Recall & Speaking Workbook or HSK 2 Reading Practice, then to replaying the set part by part and trying the listening sections of the HSK 2 mock tests.

## How do I print it?
