Each band's book has two mini practice tests in the test's question types, with an answer key and audio script. They're short tests, so use them to learn the format and check your progress. TOCFL Writing Test Practice has a timed mock too. ## Which TOCFL band should I choose? Novice is the level below Band A, around pre-A1. Band A is A1 to A2, Band B is B1 to B2, and Band C is C1 to C2. The TOCFL exam guide linked on this page explains the levels and how to register. ## Are the books in Traditional or Simplified characters? Traditional, with Taiwan Mandarin words such as 捷運 and 便利商店. Tests in Taiwan are printed in Traditional characters only. Overseas centres let you choose Simplified, and that version keeps Taiwan's vocabulary. ## How is the TOCFL different from the HSK? The TOCFL is Taiwan's test and the HSK is mainland China's. At the same level number, TOCFL asks for more words: Level 3 covers about 2,400 words, while HSK 3 asks for 1,000.
