Listen to three HSK 2 conversations about weekend plans, shopping and TV, follow every line in pinyin, then answer the questions out loud yourself.
This page is for learners past the basics who can read HSK 2 sentences but still need a second listen when they hear them at speed. HSK 2 conversations run longer, and the meaning often sits in small words like 但是 and 为什么 that are easy to miss.
Below are three conversations between friends: a free Saturday with little money for gifts, hunting for a new game console, and a TV gala the whole family watches. Every line has audio, pinyin and English. The routine after them ends with you answering out loud.

Frequently asked questions
How is HSK 2 listening different from HSK 1?
In HSK 2 dialogues like these, sentences get longer and people give reasons and change their minds. You'll hear linking words such as 但是 and question words like 为什么, plus time words like 明天 and 现在 that change the meaning of a whole line. The vocabulary is still everyday, so the main jump is following two or three ideas in a row.
What should I do when the audio feels too fast?
Slow down the task. Play one line at a time instead of the whole dialogue, and replay it until you can repeat it. Read the pinyin on the first listens, then hide it. Speed comes from hearing the same lines many times, so stay with one dialogue for a few days before moving on.
How can I tell if my HSK 2 listening is improving?
Play a dialogue you haven't seen with the pinyin and English hidden, and count the lines you understood on the first listen. Do the same a week later with a new dialogue at the same level. If the count goes up, your ear is getting faster, even when it doesn't feel that way.
Will listening practice make my speaking better?
It gives you sentences you can borrow, which makes speaking easier, but you still have to say them. Answer the questions in each dialogue out loud, then try a lesson with Mei Lin, SayMei's AI tutor. She asks you questions at your level and, when a sentence goes wrong, says it back the right way.
Can I listen without signing up?
Yes. Every dialogue on SayMei plays for free with no account, and the library has 3,500+ of them, HSK 1 to 6, with new ones each day. To speak a role, saying your lines while each word lights up as it's heard, you need a free account, which includes one session a day. Premium has no limit.
