SayMei Stories for classrooms

Mandarin stories your students can hear and read on any phone or computer: pinyin over every word, five questions after each chapter, and no student accounts.

What your class gets

  • 90 illustrated books. Chinese legends, world classics and everyday stories, from first-year Mandarin up, in short chapters.
  • Read aloud, line by line. Every line is voiced. Students can slow it down, or replay a line as often as they like.
  • Pinyin and meanings. Pinyin sits over every character. Students tap a word for its meaning, or show the English line.
  • Five questions a chapter. A short quiz closes each chapter, and each student's results page is ready to show you or print.

How it works

  1. Choose stories and your class size. $1 per student for each story you choose.
  2. Pay, and get your links. One link per story, on the next page and by email.
  3. Students open the link. The whole story opens for 30 days on their phone or a school computer, one device per student (and one for you), with no sign-up. Their results page shows each chapter's quiz score.

Student privacy

Students don't sign up, and we never ask for their names, email addresses or ages. Their progress and quiz results stay on their own device.
