Far in the west, the magician can't stop thinking about his lamp. Back in Baghdad, he learns one useful thing and makes a very strange plan.

Far, far away in the west, the magician was still in his dark room.

That boy has my lamp, a palace, and the princess too!
- the Magician 好。我去巴格达，我要我的灯！
Hǎo. Wǒ qù Bāgédá, wǒ yào wǒ de dēng!
Fine. I'm going to Baghdad. I want my lamp!

Excuse me, where is Aladdin's palace?
- the Magician 在国王的宫殿前边？一个晚上做好的？
Zài guówáng de gōngdiàn qiánbian? Yí gè wǎnshang zuò hǎo de?
In front of the sultan's palace? Built in one night?
- the Magician 谢谢你！我现在去看看。
Xièxie nǐ! Wǒ xiànzài qù kànkan.
Thank you! I'll go and take a look now.

Mófǎshī lái dào le Ālādīng de gōngdiàn qiánbian.
The magician came and stood before Aladdin's palace.
- the Magician 天哪，这么大，这么漂亮！
Tiān na, zhème dà, zhème piàoliang!
Heavens, so big, so beautiful!
- the Magician 二十四个窗户，都有宝石！
Èrshísì gè chuānghu, dōu yǒu bǎoshí!
Twenty-four windows, and every one has jewels!
- the Magician 一个晚上，人做不到。是灯神做的！
Yí gè wǎnshang, rén zuò bu dào. Shì Dēng Shén zuò de!
No person could build this in one night. The genie of the lamp made it!

The old lamp is inside this palace!

Qǐngwèn, Ālādīng zài gōngdiàn li ma?
Excuse me, is Aladdin in the palace?
- the Magician 不在？他去山里打猎了？八天？
Bú zài? Tā qù shān li dǎliè le? Bā tiān?
He isn't? He's gone hunting in the mountains? For eight days?
- the Magician 八天！太好了！
Bā tiān! Tài hǎo le!
Eight days! Wonderful!
- the Magician 公主呢？她在宫殿里？好。
Gōngzhǔ ne? Tā zài gōngdiàn li? Hǎo.
And the princess? She's in the palace? Good.
- the Magician 阿拉丁，你好好玩八天吧。
Ālādīng, nǐ hǎohǎo wán bā tiān ba.
Aladdin, go and enjoy your eight days.
- the Magician 那个灯，我怎么要回来呢？
Nàge dēng, wǒ zěnme yào huílái ne?
That lamp... how do I get it back?
- the Magician 宫殿里的人不知道灯的秘密。
Gōngdiàn li de rén bù zhīdào dēng de mìmì.
The people in the palace don't know the lamp's secret.
- the Magician 他们会想：一个旧灯，谁要呢？
Tāmen huì xiǎng: yí gè jiù dēng, shéi yào ne?
They'll think: an old lamp, who wants that?
- the Magician 我知道了！我去买新灯，换他们的旧灯！
Wǒ zhīdào le! Wǒ qù mǎi xīn dēng, huàn tāmen de jiù dēng!
I've got it! I'll buy new lamps and swap them for their old one!
- the Magician 新灯，十二个！都要好看的！
Xīn dēng, shí'èr gè! Dōu yào hǎokàn de!
New lamps, twelve of them! All nice-looking ones!
- the Magician 大家会说，这个人有病！没关系。
Dàjiā huì shuō, zhège rén yǒu bìng! Méi guānxi.
People will say this man is crazy! Never mind.
- Narrator 魔法师的大篮子里，都是新灯。他来到了公主的窗户下边。
Mófǎshī de dà lánzi li, dōu shì xīn dēng. Tā lái dào le gōngzhǔ de chuānghu xiàbian.
The magician's big basket was full of new lamps. He came and stood under the princess's windows.
