In the city, he heard everyone talking about one person: Fatima.

Fatima's home was small, with hardly anything in it.
- Fatima 孩子，你是谁？这么晚了，你生病了吗？
Háizi, nǐ shì shéi? Zhème wǎn le, nǐ shēngbìng le ma?
Child, who are you? It's so late. Are you ill?
- the Magician's Brother 我没有病。给我你的衣服！
Wǒ méiyǒu bìng. Gěi wǒ nǐ de yīfu!
I'm not ill. Give me your clothes!
- Fatima 我的衣服？你要我的衣服做什么？
Wǒ de yīfu? Nǐ yào wǒ de yīfu zuò shénme?
My clothes? What do you want my clothes for?
- the Magician's Brother 不要问了。现在给我！
Búyào wèn le. Xiànzài gěi wǒ!
No questions. Give them to me now!
- Narrator 那天晚上，法蒂玛死了。
Nà tiān wǎnshang, Fǎdìmǎ sǐ le.
That night, Fatima died.
- Narrator 第二天，他穿上法蒂玛的衣服，去了城里。

The next day he put on Fatima's clothes and went into the city.

Shéi shēngbìng le, háizimen? Wǒ lái kànkan.
Who is ill, children? Let me see.
- the Magician's Brother 他们都觉得我是法蒂玛……没有人知道我的秘密！
Tāmen dōu juéde wǒ shì Fǎdìmǎ… méiyǒu rén zhīdào wǒ de mìmì!
They all think I'm Fatima... No one knows my secret!
- the Princess 宫殿外边怎么有这么多人？他们说，法蒂玛来了！
Gōngdiàn wàibian zěnme yǒu zhème duō rén? Tāmen shuō, Fǎdìmǎ lái le!
Why are there so many people outside the palace? They say Fatima is here!
- the Princess 城里的人都说她是好人。请她来我们的宫殿！
Chéng li de rén dōu shuō tā shì hǎorén. Qǐng tā lái wǒmen de gōngdiàn!
Everyone in the city says she is a good woman. Ask her to come to our palace!
- the Princess 法蒂玛，您好！请坐，请喝茶。
Fǎdìmǎ, nín hǎo! Qǐng zuò, qǐng hē chá.
Hello, Fatima! Please sit down, and have some tea.
- the Magician's Brother 我不喝！……我是说，谢谢您，公主。
Wǒ bù hē! … Wǒ shì shuō, xièxie nín, gōngzhǔ.
I won't drink it! ...I mean, thank you, Princess.
- the Princess 好，不喝茶。法蒂玛，请您住在我们的宫殿里吧。
Hǎo, bù hē chá. Fǎdìmǎ, qǐng nín zhù zài wǒmen de gōngdiàn li ba.
All right, no tea. Fatima, please come and live in our palace.
- the Magician's Brother 公主，您真好。
Gōngzhǔ, nín zhēn hǎo.
Princess, you are very kind.
- the Princess 您看，这是我们的大房间，有二十四个窗户！
Nín kàn, zhè shì wǒmen de dà fángjiān, yǒu èrshísì gè chuānghu!
Look, this is our great hall. It has twenty-four windows!
- the Magician's Brother 窗户上都是宝石……这是天下第一漂亮的房间。
Chuānghu shàng dōu shì bǎoshí… zhè shì tiānxià dì yī piàoliang de fángjiān.
Jewels on every window... This is the most beautiful hall in the world.
- the Princess 谢谢您！阿拉丁听了，会很高兴的。
Xièxie nín! Ālādīng tīng le, huì hěn gāoxìng de.

Shǎo shénme? Fǎdìmǎ, nín shuō ba!
Missing what? Tell me, Fatima!
- the Magician's Brother 很远的山上，有一只大鸟。它飞的时候，天都黑了。
Hěn yuǎn de shān shàng, yǒu yì zhī dà niǎo. Tā fēi de shíhou, tiān dōu hēi le.
On a mountain far away there is a great bird. When it flies, the whole sky goes dark.
- the Princess 天哪，那只鸟那么大！
Tiān na, nà zhī niǎo nàme dà!
Goodness, that bird is so big!
- the Magician's Brother 公主，这个房间的上边，只少一个大鸟的蛋。
Gōngzhǔ, zhège fángjiān de shàngbian, zhǐ shǎo yí gè dà niǎo de dàn.
Princess, high up in this hall, only one thing is missing: a great bird's egg.
