Back from the second ball, the sisters tell Cinderella everything about the princess, while she keeps very still by the fire.

It was very late, and everyone was asleep. Cinderella sat alone by the fire.
- Second Sister 灰姑娘！你还在火边？
Huī gūniang! Nǐ hái zài huǒ biān?
Cinderella! Are you still by the fire?
- Cinderella 大姐姐，二姐姐，你们回来了。舞会好玩吗？
Dà jiějie, Èr jiějie, nǐmen huílai le. Wǔhuì hǎowán ma?
Big Sister, Second Sister, you're back. Was the ball fun?

- Cinderella 那个漂亮的公主，今天也来了吗？
Nàge piàoliang de gōngzhǔ, jīntiān yě lái le ma?
Did that beautiful princess come tonight too?
- Big Sister 来了！十二点的时候，她跑了！
Lái le! Shí'èr diǎn de shíhou, tā pǎo le!
She did! And at twelve o'clock, she ran away!
- Second Sister 太快了！我们谁都没看见她去哪儿了。
Tài kuài le! Wǒmen shéi dōu méi kànjiàn tā qù nǎr le.
So fast! None of us saw where she went.
- Big Sister 她还掉了一只玻璃鞋！
Tā hái diào le yì zhī bōli xié!
She even dropped one of her glass slippers!
- Cinderella 玻璃鞋？
Bōli xié?
A glass slipper?
- Second Sister 那只玻璃鞋那么小，那么漂亮！谁都没有！
Nà zhī bōli xié nàme xiǎo, nàme piàoliang! Shéi dōu méiyǒu!
That glass slipper was so small and so pretty! Nobody has one like it!
- Cinderella 那只鞋呢？现在在哪儿？
Nà zhī xié ne? Xiànzài zài nǎr?
And the slipper? Where is it now?
- Big Sister 在王子那儿！是王子找到的。
Zài wángzǐ nàr! Shì wángzǐ zhǎo dào de.
The prince has it! He's the one who found it.
- Second Sister 王子什么也不做，只看那只鞋。我想，他现在还在看呢！
Wángzǐ shénme yě bú zuò, zhǐ kàn nà zhī xié. Wǒ xiǎng, tā xiànzài hái zài kàn ne!
The prince did nothing but look at that slipper. I bet he's still looking at it now!
- Big Sister 一只鞋，有什么好看的？我的鞋也很漂亮！
Yì zhī xié, yǒu shénme hǎokàn de? Wǒ de xié yě hěn piàoliang!
One slipper. What's so special about that? My shoes are pretty too!
- Second Sister 姐姐，你不知道。王子一定很爱她！
Jiějie, nǐ bù zhīdào. Wángzǐ yídìng hěn ài tā!
Sister, you don't understand. The prince must love her very much!
- Big Sister 爱她？他都不知道她是谁！
Ài tā? Tā dōu bù zhīdào tā shì shéi!
Love her? He doesn't even know who she is!
- Cinderella 他不知道我是谁。我的鞋，在他那儿。
Tā bù zhīdào wǒ shì shéi. Wǒ de xié, zài tā nàr.
He doesn't know who I am. And my slipper is with him.
- Second Sister 灰姑娘，你怎么不说话？
Huī gūniang, nǐ zěnme bù shuōhuà?
Cinderella, why aren't you saying anything?
- Cinderella 没什么，二姐姐。很晚了，我想睡觉了。
Méi shénme, Èr jiějie. Hěn wǎn le, wǒ xiǎng shuìjiào le.
It's nothing, Second Sister. It's late. I'd like to go to bed.
- Big Sister 快去睡！灰丫头，明天早上你还要做饭！
Kuài qù shuì! Huī yātou, míngtiān zǎoshang nǐ hái yào zuò fàn!
Off to bed, quick! Cinderwench, you still have breakfast to cook in the morning!
- Cinderella 好，大姐姐。
Hǎo, Dà jiějie.
Yes, Big Sister.
- Narrator 灰姑娘没有再说话。那只玻璃鞋还在她的口袋里。
Huī gūniang méiyǒu zài shuōhuà. Nà zhī bōli xié hái zài tā de kǒudai li.
Cinderella said nothing more. The other glass slipper was still in her pocket.
- Narrator 几天后的早上，外边来了很多人。
Jǐ tiān hòu de zǎoshang, wàibian lái le hěn duō rén.
A few days later, one morning, a great crowd came outside.
- Second Sister 姐姐！你听！外边是什么？
Jiějie! Nǐ tīng! Wàibian shì shénme?
Sister! Listen! What's that outside?
- Big Sister 是王宫的人！妹妹，我们快去看看！
Shì wánggōng de rén! Mèimei, wǒmen kuài qù kànkan!
It's people from the palace! Sister, quick, let's go and look!
- Cinderella 王宫的人？他们来找什么？
Wánggōng de rén? Tāmen lái zhǎo shénme?
