Now all the good food went to Hansel. Gretel got only a few scraps that were no good to eat.
- Gretel 哥哥，吃吧。这些都是好吃的，是我做的。
Gēge, chī ba. Zhèxiē dōu shì hǎochī de, shì wǒ zuò de.
Eat, Brother. It's all good food, and I cooked it.
- Hansel 你呢？你吃什么？
Nǐ ne? Nǐ chī shénme?
What about you? What do you eat?

Wǒ zhīdào nǐ è. Zhège gěi nǐ, nǐ chī yì kǒu.
I know you're hungry. Here, take a bite of this.
- Gretel 不可以！巫婆会看见的。她在那边！
Bù kěyǐ! Wūpó huì kànjiàn de. Tā zài nàbiān!
No! The witch will see. She's right over there!
- Narrator 第二天早上，巫婆来到笼子前边。
Dì èr tiān zǎoshang, wūpó láidào lóngzi qiánbian.
The next morning, the witch came up to the cage.
- the witch 汉赛尔，伸手指给我！我摸一摸，看你胖了没有。
Hànsài'ěr, shēn shǒuzhǐ gěi wǒ! Wǒ mō yi mō, kàn nǐ pàng le méiyǒu.
Hansel, stick your finger out to me! I'll feel it and see if you're fat yet.
- Hansel 格莱特，你看这个。
Géláitè, nǐ kàn zhège.
Gretel, look at this.
- Gretel 一块小骨头？哥哥，你要做什么？
Yí kuài xiǎo gǔtou? Gēge, nǐ yào zuò shénme?
A little bone? Brother, what are you going to do?
- Hansel 她的眼睛不好。她看不见。你不要说话。
Tā de yǎnjing bù hǎo. Tā kàn bu jiàn. Nǐ bú yào shuōhuà.
Her eyes are bad. She can't see it. Don't say a word.
- Gretel 哥哥，你真会想！
Gēge, nǐ zhēn huì xiǎng!
Brother, you think of everything!
- the witch 手指呢？快一点儿！我没有时间！
Shǒuzhǐ ne? Kuài yìdiǎnr! Wǒ méiyǒu shíjiān!
Where's that finger? Hurry up! I haven't got all day!
- Narrator 汉赛尔给她的，是那块小骨头。
Hànsài'ěr gěi tā de, shì nà kuài xiǎo gǔtou.
What Hansel held out to her was the little bone.
- the witch 这是你的手指？还是这么小！还不胖！
Zhè shì nǐ de shǒuzhǐ? Háishi zhème xiǎo! Hái bú pàng!
This is your finger? Still so small! Not fat yet!
- Hansel 我昨天吃了很多！我也不知道！
Wǒ zuótiān chī le hěn duō! Wǒ yě bù zhīdào!
I ate lots yesterday! I don't know why either!
- the witch 吃了那么多好吃的，都去哪儿了？
Chī le nàme duō hǎochī de, dōu qù nǎr le?
All that good food, and where did it go?
- Hansel 我还很饿！明天多给我一点儿！
Wǒ hái hěn è! Míngtiān duō gěi wǒ yìdiǎnr!
I'm still very hungry! Give me more tomorrow!
- Gretel 她真看不见！
Tā zhēn kàn bu jiàn!
She really can't see!
- Narrator 天天早上，巫婆都来。天天早上，汉赛尔都给她骨头。
Tiāntiān zǎoshang, wūpó dōu lái. Tiāntiān zǎoshang, Hànsài'ěr dōu gěi tā gǔtou.
Every morning the witch came. Every morning Hansel gave her the bone.
- the witch 还是不胖！你的饭呢？都给谁了？
Háishi bú pàng! Nǐ de fàn ne? Dōu gěi shéi le?
Still not fat! What about your food? Who did you give it all to?
- Hansel 我也想胖！真的！
Wǒ yě xiǎng pàng! Zhēn de!
I want to get fat too! Really!
- the witch 一天，两天，三天……我不高兴了！
Yì tiān, liǎng tiān, sān tiān… wǒ bù gāoxìng le!
One day, two days, three days... I'm losing my patience!
- Hansel 她还不知道骨头的事，格莱特。
Tā hái bù zhīdào gǔtou de shì, Géláitè.
She still doesn't know about the bone, Gretel.
- Gretel 哥哥，她还会等多少天呢？
Gēge, tā hái huì děng duōshao tiān ne?
Brother, how many more days will she wait?
