Lost and starving, Hansel and Gretel follow a snow-white bird through the forest to a little house they can hardly believe.

They walked in the forest all night. The next day, they were still walking.
- Gretel 哥哥，我好饿。我们只吃了一点儿小水果。
Gēge, wǒ hǎo è. Wǒmen zhǐ chī le yìdiǎnr xiǎo shuǐguǒ.
Brother, I'm so hungry. All we've eaten is a few little berries.
- Hansel 我也好饿。格莱特，不要哭。我们再去那边看看。
Wǒ yě hǎo è. Géláitè, bú yào kū. Wǒmen zài qù nàbiān kànkan.
I'm hungry too. Gretel, don't cry. Let's go and look over there.

It's evening... Brother, I can't walk anymore.
- Hansel 好，我们在树下睡吧。明天再走。
Hǎo, wǒmen zài shù xià shuì ba. Míngtiān zài zǒu.
All right, let's sleep under this tree. We'll go on tomorrow.
- Narrator 第三天早上，他们还在森林里。
Dì sān tiān zǎoshang, tāmen hái zài sēnlín li.
On the third morning, they were still in the forest.
- Gretel 哥哥，没有人来帮我们。我们会死在这里吗？
Gēge, méiyǒu rén lái bāng wǒmen. Wǒmen huì sǐ zài zhèlǐ ma?
Brother, nobody is coming to help us. Are we going to die here?
- Hansel 不会的。我们再走一下，好吗？
Bú huì de. Wǒmen zài zǒu yíxià, hǎo ma?
No, we won't. Let's walk a little more, all right?
- Gretel 中午了……你听！
Zhōngwǔ le… nǐ tīng!
It's noon... Listen!
- Hansel 树上有一只鸟，雪白雪白的！真好看！
Shù shang yǒu yì zhī niǎo, xuěbái xuěbái de! Zhēn hǎokàn!
There's a bird in the tree, as white as snow! It's so beautiful!
- Gretel 它的歌真好听！
Tā de gē zhēn hǎotīng!
Its song is so lovely!
- Hansel 你看，它去那边了！我们去看看！
Nǐ kàn, tā qù nàbiān le! Wǒmen qù kànkan!
Look, it's going over there! Let's go and see!
- Narrator 白鸟到了一个小房子上边。这个房子是面包做的，房子上边是蛋糕。
Bái niǎo dào le yí gè xiǎo fángzi shàngbian. Zhège fángzi shì miànbāo zuò de, fángzi shàngbian shì dàngāo.
The white bird landed on the roof of a little house. The house was made of bread, and its roof was cake.
- Gretel 哥哥，你看窗户！窗户是糖做的！
Gēge, nǐ kàn chuānghu! Chuānghu shì táng zuò de!
Brother, look at the windows! The windows are made of sugar!
- Hansel 格莱特，我们有吃的了！
Géláitè, wǒmen yǒu chī de le!
Gretel, we've got something to eat!
- Gretel 这是谁的房子？我们可以吃吗？
Zhè shì shéi de fángzi? Wǒmen kěyǐ chī ma?
Whose house is this? Are we allowed to eat it?
- Hansel 我们太饿了。我吃房子上边，你吃窗户！
Wǒmen tài è le. Wǒ chī fángzi shàngbian, nǐ chī chuānghu!
We're starving. I'll eat the roof, and you eat the window!
- Gretel 好吃！真好吃！糖好甜！
Hǎochī! Zhēn hǎochī! Táng hǎo tián!
Delicious! So delicious! The sugar is so sweet!

Who is eating my little house?
- Gretel 哥哥，房子里有人！
Gēge, fángzi li yǒu rén!
Brother, there's someone in the house!
- Hansel 不要怕。是风，是天上的风。
Bú yào pà. Shì fēng, shì tiān shang de fēng.
Don't be afraid. It's the wind, the wind from heaven.
- Gretel 是风？那我再吃一点儿糖！
Shì fēng? Nà wǒ zài chī yìdiǎnr táng!
The wind? Then I'll have a little more sugar!
- Hansel 我也吃！这一大块是我的！
Wǒ yě chī! Zhè yí dà kuài shì wǒ de!
Me too! This big piece is mine!
- Gretel 这个大窗户是我的！我坐在这儿吃。
Zhège dà chuānghu shì wǒ de! Wǒ zuò zài zhèr chī.
This big window is mine! I'll sit right here and eat it.
- Narrator 门开了。一个很老很老的老奶奶出来了。
Mén kāi le. Yí gè hěn lǎo hěn lǎo de lǎo nǎinai chūlai le.
The door opened. A very, very old woman came out.
- Gretel 哥哥，她看见我们了……
Gēge, tā kànjiàn wǒmen le…
Brother, she's seen us...
- Hansel 格莱特，不要说话。
Géláitè, bú yào shuōhuà.
Gretel, don't say a word.
- Gretel 哥哥，我好怕。
Gēge, wǒ hǎo pà.
Brother, I'm so scared.
