美儿的房间
Alone in the palace, Beauty counts her hours. A door with her name on it, a book with gold letters and a big mirror show her more than she ever expected.

That morning, Beauty sat alone in a big room, crying.
- Beauty 爸爸回家了……我再也看不见他了。
Bàba huí jiā le… wǒ zài yě kàn bu jiàn tā le.
Father has gone home... I'll never see him again.
- Beauty 不要哭了，美儿。晚上，野兽会来吃你。
Bú yào kū le, Měi'ér. Wǎnshang, Yěshòu huì lái chī nǐ.
Stop crying, Beauty. Tonight the Beast will come to eat you.

There are words on this door: “Beauty's room.”
- Beauty 是我的名字！这是我的房间？
Shì wǒ de míngzi! Zhè shì wǒ de fángjiān?
That's my name! This is my room?
- Beauty 好多书！还有音乐书！都是我喜欢的！
Hǎo duō shū! Hái yǒu yīnyuè shū! Dōu shì wǒ xǐhuan de!
So many books! And music books! Everything I love!
- Beauty 我只有一天了，谁还会给我做这么好的房间？
Wǒ zhǐyǒu yì tiān le, shéi hái huì gěi wǒ zuò zhème hǎo de fángjiān?
If I had only one day left, who would make me a room this lovely?
- Beauty 野兽今天不会吃我吧？我还有很多天！
Yěshòu jīntiān bú huì chī wǒ ba? Wǒ hái yǒu hěn duō tiān!
The Beast won't eat me today, will he? I still have lots of days!
- Beauty 这本书真漂亮，书上的字都是金子的！
Zhè běn shū zhēn piàoliang, shū shang de zì dōu shì jīnzi de!
This book is so beautiful, and its letters are all gold!
- Beauty “你想要什么，就说。你是这里的主人。”
“Nǐ xiǎng yào shénme, jiù shuō. Nǐ shì zhèlǐ de zhǔrén.”
“Whatever you want, just say it. You are the mistress here.”
- Beauty 我是主人？那我只想看见爸爸。
Wǒ shì zhǔrén? Nà wǒ zhǐ xiǎng kànjiàn bàba.
I'm the mistress? Then all I want is to see Father.
- Beauty 爸爸现在在做什么？他好吗？
Bàba xiànzài zài zuò shénme? Tā hǎo ma?
What is Father doing now? Is he all right?
- Narrator 房间里还有大镜子。镜子里，有她的家。
Fángjiān li hái yǒu dà jìngzi. Jìngzi li, yǒu tā de jiā.
The room also had a big mirror. In the mirror was her home.
- Beauty 是爸爸！他到家了。他很不高兴……
Shì bàba! Tā dào jiā le. Tā hěn bù gāoxìng…
It's Father! He's home. He's so unhappy...
- Beauty 大姐和二姐在哭……不，她们心里很高兴。
Dàjiě hé èrjiě zài kū… bù, tāmen xīn li hěn gāoxìng.
Eldest Sister and Second Sister are crying... no, inside they're glad.
- Beauty 今天她们也有洋葱吧！
Jīntiān tāmen yě yǒu yángcōng ba!
I bet they have an onion today too!
- Beauty 爸爸，我很好……你能听见吗？
Bàba, wǒ hěn hǎo… nǐ néng tīngjiàn ma?
Father, I'm all right... can you hear me?
- Beauty 中午了，桌子上有了午饭！还有音乐……
Zhōngwǔ le, zhuōzi shang yǒu le wǔfàn! Hái yǒu yīnyuè…

The food is delicious, and the music is lovely. Thank you! Where are you?
- Narrator 晚上九点，宫殿里有很大的声音。
Wǎnshang jiǔ diǎn, gōngdiàn li yǒu hěn dà de shēngyīn.
At nine that evening, a great noise rang through the palace.
- Beauty 九点了……是野兽！他来吃我了吗？
Jiǔ diǎn le… shì Yěshòu! Tā lái chī wǒ le ma?
Nine o'clock... it's the Beast! Has he come to eat me?
- Beauty 我不哭。我也不害怕。
Wǒ bù kū. Wǒ yě bú hàipà.
I won't cry. And I'm not afraid.
- The Beast 美儿，我可以看你吃晚饭吗？
Měi'ér, wǒ kěyǐ kàn nǐ chī wǎnfàn ma?
