That night, in the great hall, the two sisters came up to the woman.
- Eldest Sister 这个女人是谁？她要做什么？
Zhège nǚrén shì shéi? Tā yào zuò shénme?
Who is this woman? What is she going to do?
- The Good Fairy 我是仙女。
Wǒ shì xiānnǚ.
I am a fairy.

- The Good Fairy 美儿，好看的、聪明的，你都没有要。你要的，是心好的那一个。
Měi'ér, hǎokàn de, cōngming de, nǐ dōu méiyǒu yào. Nǐ yào de, shì xīn hǎo de nà yí gè.
Beauty, the handsome ones, the clever ones: you didn't want any of them. What you wanted was the one with a good heart.
- The Good Fairy 现在，好看、聪明、心好，他都有。他是王子，你会是一个很好的王后。
Xiànzài, hǎokàn, cōngming, xīn hǎo, tā dōu yǒu. Tā shì wángzǐ, nǐ huì shì yí gè hěn hǎo de wánghòu.
Now he has it all: good looks, wit and a good heart. He is a prince, and you will be a fine queen.
- Beauty 仙女，我只想做他的妻子。
Xiānnǚ, wǒ zhǐ xiǎng zuò tā de qīzi.
Fairy, I only want to be his wife.
- Second Sister 美儿做王后？那我呢？
Měi'ér zuò wánghòu? Nà wǒ ne?
Beauty, a queen? And what about me?
- The Good Fairy 你们？我知道你们的心。
Nǐmen? Wǒ zhīdào nǐmen de xīn.
You two? I know your hearts.
- Eldest Sister 仙女，我们很爱美儿！她是我们的好妹妹！
Xiānnǚ, wǒmen hěn ài Měi'ér! Tā shì wǒmen de hǎo mèimei!
Fairy, we love Beauty so much! She's our dear little sister!
- The Good Fairy 不要说了。你们要在美儿的宫殿门口，做两个石头人。
Bú yào shuō le. Nǐmen yào zài Měi'ér de gōngdiàn ménkǒu, zuò liǎng gè shítou rén.
Say no more. At the door of Beauty's palace, you will be two stone statues.
- Second Sister 石头？我不要做石头！大姐！
Shítou? Wǒ bú yào zuò shítou! Dàjiě!
Stone? I don't want to be stone! Eldest Sister!
- The Good Fairy 石头人不能说话。你们还能想，还能看见。
Shítou rén bù néng shuōhuà. Nǐmen hái néng xiǎng, hái néng kànjiàn.
Statues of stone cannot speak. But you will still think, and still see.
- The Good Fairy 你们会看见，美儿有多高兴。
Nǐmen huì kànjiàn, Měi'ér yǒu duō gāoxìng.
You will see how happy Beauty is.
- Eldest Sister 我们有什么不对？
Wǒmen yǒu shénme bú duì?
What have we done wrong?
- The Good Fairy 你们知道你们不对的那一天，可以变回来。我想……那一天不会来了。
Nǐmen zhīdào nǐmen bú duì de nà yì tiān, kěyǐ biàn huílái. Wǒ xiǎng… nà yì tiān bú huì lái le.
On the day you know you were wrong, you can change back. But I think... that day will never come.
- Father 我的两个孩子……
Wǒ de liǎng gè háizi…
My two children...
- The Good Fairy 现在，我们都去王子的国家。
Xiànzài, wǒmen dōu qù wángzǐ de guójiā.
Now we will all go to the prince's kingdom.
- Narrator 大家都到了。这里有一个大宫殿，有花园，外边都是人。
Dàjiā dōu dào le. Zhèlǐ yǒu yí gè dà gōngdiàn, yǒu huāyuán, wàibian dōu shì rén.
And everyone was there. There was a great palace and a garden, and outside, people everywhere.
- The Young Man 我回来了！这是我的国家！
Wǒ huílái le! Zhè shì wǒ de guójiā!
I'm back! This is my kingdom!
- Father 王子，这里的人都在等您！
Wángzǐ, zhèlǐ de rén dōu zài děng nín!
Prince, everyone here has been waiting for you!
- The Young Man 是。我很多年没有回家了。
Shì. Wǒ hěn duō nián méiyǒu huí jiā le.
Yes. I haven't been home in many years.
- Narrator 宫殿的门口，有两个石头人。
Gōngdiàn de ménkǒu, yǒu liǎng gè shítou rén.
At the palace door, there were two stone statues.
- Beauty 大姐，二姐，我会等你们的。
Dàjiě, èrjiě, wǒ huì děng nǐmen de.
Eldest Sister, Second Sister, I will wait for you.
- Narrator 美儿和王子结婚了。
Měi'ér hé wángzǐ jiéhūn le.
Beauty and the prince were married.
- The Good Fairy 美儿，你看：好人会有好报。
Měi'ér, nǐ kàn: hǎorén huì yǒu hǎobào.
Beauty, you see: good people are rewarded.
- Narrator 他们的心都很好。很多很多年，他们天天都很高兴。
Tāmen de xīn dōu hěn hǎo. Hěn duō hěn duō nián, tāmen tiāntiān dōu hěn gāoxìng.
Both their hearts were good. For many, many years, they were happy every day.
- The Young Man 美儿，九点了。今天晚上，我还要问那个问题吗？
Měi'ér, jiǔ diǎn le. Jīntiān wǎnshang, wǒ hái yào wèn nàge wèntí ma?
Beauty, it's nine o'clock. Tonight, shall I still ask that question?
- Beauty 问吧！我天天都会说“好”。
Wèn ba! Wǒ tiāntiān dōu huì shuō “hǎo”.
