The Grinning Cat
会笑的猫
In a kitchen full of pepper, Alice meets a sneezing Duchess and a grinning cat who gives her some very strange directions.

- Narrator 爱丽丝推开门，走了进去。原来这是一个大厨房，里面到处都是胡椒。
Àilìsī tuīkāi mén, zǒu le jìnqù. Yuánlái zhè shì yí gè dà chúfáng, lǐmiàn dàochù dōu shì hújiāo.
Alice pushed the door open and went in. It was a big kitchen, and there was pepper everywhere.
- Alice 阿嚏！阿嚏！这里的胡椒也太多了吧！
Ātì! Ātì! Zhèlǐ de hújiāo yě tài duō le ba!
Achoo! Achoo! There's far too much pepper in here!
- Narrator 公爵夫人抱着一个又哭又打喷嚏的宝宝。火边坐着一只大猫，嘴一直笑到耳朵边。
Gōngjué fūrén bàozhe yí gè yòu kū yòu dǎ pēntì de bǎobao. Huǒ biān zuòzhe yì zhī dà māo, zuǐ yìzhí xiào dào ěrduo biān.
The Duchess was holding a baby that howled and sneezed by turns. By the fire sat a big cat, grinning from ear to ear.
- Alice 请问，您的猫为什么这样笑？
Qǐngwèn, nín de māo wèishénme zhèyàng xiào?
Excuse me, why does your cat grin like that?
- Duchess 它是柴郡猫，所以它会笑。猪！
Tā shì Cháijùn Māo, suǒyǐ tā huì xiào. Zhū!
It's a Cheshire Cat, that's why. Pig!
- Alice 猪？您说我是猪？
Zhū? Nín shuō wǒ shì zhū?
Pig? Are you calling me a pig?
- Duchess 我在跟宝宝说话！你知道的事也太少了。
Wǒ zài gēn bǎobao shuōhuà! Nǐ zhīdào de shì yě tài shǎo le.
I was talking to the baby! You don't know much, do you?
- Narrator 这时候，厨师开始往她们身上扔东西：锅、盘子、碗，一个接一个。
Zhè shíhou, chúshī kāishǐ wǎng tāmen shēn shang rēng dōngxi: guō, pánzi, wǎn, yí gè jiē yí gè.
Just then, the cook began throwing things at them: pots, plates and bowls, one after another.
- Alice 小心！哎呀，差点儿打到宝宝的小鼻子！
Xiǎoxīn! Āiyā, chàdiǎnr dǎ dào bǎobao de xiǎo bízi!
Look out! Oh no, that nearly hit the baby's little nose!
- Duchess 要是每个人都管好自己的事，地球就会转得快多了！
Yàoshi měi gè rén dōu guǎn hǎo zìjǐ de shì, dìqiú jiù huì zhuàn de kuài duō le!
If everyone minded their own business, the world would spin a great deal faster!
- Duchess 给你，你抱一会儿吧！我要去准备跟王后打槌球了！
Gěi nǐ, nǐ bào yíhuìr ba! Wǒ yào qù zhǔnbèi gēn wánghòu dǎ chuíqiú le!
Here, you hold it for a while! I must go and get ready to play croquet with the Queen!
- Narrator 爱丽丝抱着宝宝走出了房子。宝宝不哭了，可是它的鼻子越来越往上翻，眼睛越来越小。
Àilìsī bàozhe bǎobao zǒu chū le fángzi. Bǎobao bù kū le, kěshì tā de bízi yuè lái yuè wǎng shàng fān, yǎnjing yuè lái yuè xiǎo.
Alice carried the baby outside. It stopped crying, but its nose turned up more and more, and its eyes grew smaller and smaller.
- Alice 宝宝，你怎么了？你的鼻子怎么这么像……天哪，你真的变成一只小猪了！
Bǎobao, nǐ zěnme le? Nǐ de bízi zěnme zhème xiàng… Tiān na, nǐ zhēn de biànchéng yì zhī xiǎo zhū le!
Baby, what's the matter? Why does your nose look so much like… Good heavens, you've turned into a little pig!
- Alice 它要是长大了，会是一个很丑的孩子。可是做一只小猪，它还挺好看的。
Tā yàoshi zhǎngdà le, huì shì yí gè hěn chǒu de háizi. Kěshì zuò yì zhī xiǎo zhū, tā hái tǐng hǎokàn de.
If it had grown up, it would have been a terribly ugly child. But as a pig, it's actually rather handsome.
- Narrator 小猪跑进了树林。这时候，爱丽丝看见柴郡猫正躺在一棵大树上，对着她笑。
Xiǎo zhū pǎo jìn le shùlín. Zhè shíhou, Àilìsī kànjiàn Cháijùn Māo zhèng tǎng zài yì kē dà shù shang, duìzhe tā xiào.
The little pig trotted off into the wood. Just then Alice saw the Cheshire Cat lying on a branch of a big tree, grinning at her.
- Alice 柴郡猫，请你告诉我，我应该走哪条路？
Cháijùn Māo, qǐng nǐ gàosu wǒ, wǒ yīnggāi zǒu nǎ tiáo lù?
Cheshire Cat, would you please tell me which way I ought to go?
- Cheshire Cat 那要看你想去哪儿。
Nà yào kàn nǐ xiǎng qù nǎr.
That depends on where you'd like to go.
- Alice 去哪儿都行……
Qù nǎr dōu xíng…
Anywhere will do…
- Cheshire Cat 那走哪条路都一样。
Nà zǒu nǎ tiáo lù dōu yíyàng.
Then it doesn't matter which way you go.
- Alice ……只要能走到一个地方就行。
…zhǐyào néng zǒu dào yí gè dìfang jiù xíng.
…as long as I get somewhere.
- Cheshire Cat 放心，你一定能走到。只要你走得够远。
Fàngxīn, nǐ yídìng néng zǒu dào. Zhǐyào nǐ zǒu de gòu yuǎn.
Don't worry, you're sure to get somewhere, if you only walk far enough.
- Alice 那……这附近住着什么人？
Nà… zhè fùjìn zhùzhe shénme rén?
Well… what sort of people live around here?
- Cheshire Cat 那边住着帽匠，那边住着三月兔。你想去看谁都行，他们两个都是疯子。
Nà biān zhùzhe Màojiàng, nà biān zhùzhe Sānyuè Tù. Nǐ xiǎng qù kàn shéi dōu xíng, tāmen liǎng gè dōu shì fēngzi.
That way lives a Hatter, and that way lives a March Hare. Visit whichever you like: they're both mad.
- Alice 可是我不想去疯子那儿。
Kěshì wǒ bù xiǎng qù fēngzi nàr.
But I don't want to go where mad people live.
- Cheshire Cat 那没办法。我们这儿都是疯子。我是疯子，你也是疯子。
Nà méi bànfǎ. Wǒmen zhèr dōu shì fēngzi. Wǒ shì fēngzi, nǐ yě shì fēngzi.
Can't be helped. Everyone here is mad. I'm mad, and so are you.
- Alice 你怎么知道我是疯子？
Nǐ zěnme zhīdào wǒ shì fēngzi?
How do you know I'm mad?
- Cheshire Cat 你一定是。不是疯子，谁会到这儿来呢？
Nǐ yídìng shì. Bú shì fēngzi, shéi huì dào zhèr lái ne?
You must be. Who but a mad person would ever come here?
- Cheshire Cat 对了，今天王后那儿有槌球比赛。我们在那儿见吧。
Duì le, jīntiān wánghòu nàr yǒu chuíqiú bǐsài. Wǒmen zài nàr jiàn ba.
Oh, by the way, the Queen is holding a croquet game today. I'll see you there.
- Narrator 说完，猫慢慢地消失了：先是尾巴，最后是它的笑。那个笑在树上又留了好一会儿。
Shuō wán, māo mànmàn de xiāoshī le: xiān shì wěiba, zuìhòu shì tā de xiào. Nàge xiào zài shù shang yòu liú le hǎo yíhuìr.
With that, the Cat slowly vanished: first his tail, and last of all his grin. The grin stayed up in the tree for quite a while after the rest of him had gone.
- Alice 我见过不笑的猫，可是从来没见过没有猫的笑！
Wǒ jiàn guo bú xiào de māo, kěshì cónglái méi jiàn guo méiyǒu māo de xiào!
I've seen plenty of cats that don't grin, but I've never seen a grin with no cat!
- Alice 好吧，我去三月兔家。听说三月兔在三月最疯，现在是五月，他也许好一点儿吧？……啊，到了！
Hǎo ba, wǒ qù Sānyuè Tù jiā. Tīngshuō Sānyuè Tù zài sānyuè zuì fēng, xiànzài shì wǔyuè, tā yěxǔ hǎo yìdiǎnr ba?… À, dào le!
All right, I'll visit the March Hare. They say March Hares are maddest in March, and it's May now, so maybe he'll be a little better?… Ah, here it is!
- March Hare 没位子了！没位子了！
Méi wèizi le! Méi wèizi le!
No room! No room!
- Hatter 走开，走开！这里一个位子也没有了！
Zǒukāi, zǒukāi! Zhèlǐ yí gè wèizi yě méiyǒu le!
Go away, go away! There's not a single seat left here!
