GCSE Chinese (Mandarin) Practice Workbooks
By Mei Lin
These free PDFs are for GCSE Chinese (Spoken Mandarin) students on Pearson Edexcel 1CN0 or AQA 8673, at Foundation or Higher tier, and for their teachers. They suit about two years of GCSE Mandarin, roughly HSK 2 to 3.
Each book covers all five GCSE themes, with model answers at both tiers and free audio. Start with speaking, because you can rehearse it out loud anywhere, then move to the paper you find hardest. They are practice tasks to use alongside your board's past papers.

Do they work for both Pearson Edexcel and AQA?
Yes. They're written for Pearson Edexcel 1CN0 and AQA 8673, at Foundation and Higher tier. Timings and marks differ between the boards, so check them in your own board's specification.
Which book covers which paper?
The speaking book has role plays, picture tasks and conversation questions. The writing book has tasks with plans, model answers and English-to-Chinese translation. The reading and listening book has texts, recordings, Chinese-to-English translation and exam skills.
What level of Chinese do I need?
