Alone in the moonlit garden, Cinderella is crying when a kind old woman appears and asks her for a pumpkin.

That night the moon was bright, and Cinderella was alone in the garden, crying.
- Cinderella 我也想……我也想……
Wǒ yě xiǎng… wǒ yě xiǎng…
I wish… I wish I could…
- The Fairy Godmother 孩子，别哭了。你想去舞会，对不对？
Háizi, bié kū le. Nǐ xiǎng qù wǔhuì, duì bu duì?
Don't cry, child. You want to go to the ball, don't you?
- Cinderella 您……您是谁？您怎么知道？
Nín… nín shì shéi? Nín zěnme zhīdào?
Who… who are you? How did you know?
- The Fairy Godmother 我是仙女。我一直在看着你，你是一个好孩子。
Wǒ shì xiānnǚ. Wǒ yìzhí zài kànzhe nǐ, nǐ shì yí gè hǎo háizi.
I'm a fairy. I've been watching over you all along, and you're a good girl.
- The Fairy Godmother 你会去舞会的！快去那边，给我拿一个南瓜来。
Nǐ huì qù wǔhuì de! Kuài qù nàbiān, gěi wǒ ná yí gè nánguā lái.
You will go to the ball! Now quick, go over there and bring me a pumpkin.
- Cinderella 南瓜？一个南瓜，能做什么呢？
Nánguā? Yí gè nánguā, néng zuò shénme ne?
A pumpkin? What good is a pumpkin?
- The Fairy Godmother 好，这个很大。你看着……变！
Hǎo, zhège hěn dà. Nǐ kànzhe… biàn!
Good, a nice big one. Now watch… Change!
- Narrator 南瓜变大了，变亮了，变成了一辆金色的马车！
Nánguā biàn dà le, biàn liàng le, biànchéng le yí liàng jīnsè de mǎchē!
The pumpkin grew bigger and brighter, and turned into a golden carriage!
- Cinderella 啊！金色的马车！是给我的吗？
À! Jīnsè de mǎchē! Shì gěi wǒ de ma?
Oh! A golden carriage! Is it for me?
- The Fairy Godmother 是给你的。现在，你可以去舞会了！
Shì gěi nǐ de. Xiànzài, nǐ kěyǐ qù wǔhuì le!
It's all yours. Now you can go to the ball!
- Cinderella 可是……我穿这件灰衣服去吗？
Kěshì… wǒ chuān zhè jiàn huī yīfu qù ma?
But… do I have to go in this grey dress?
- The Fairy Godmother 不是，不是！你看……变！
Bú shì, bú shì! Nǐ kàn… biàn!
Of course not! Look… Change!
- Cinderella 我的衣服……变成金色的了！真漂亮！
Wǒ de yīfu… biànchéng jīnsè de le! Zhēn piàoliang!
My dress… it's turned to gold! It's so beautiful!
- The Fairy Godmother 还有这个。一双玻璃鞋，给你。
Hái yǒu zhège. Yì shuāng bōlixié, gěi nǐ.
And one more thing. A pair of glass slippers, for you.
- Cinderella 玻璃鞋！我没见过这么漂亮的鞋！
Bōlixié! Wǒ méi jiàn guo zhème piàoliang de xié!
Glass slippers! I've never seen such beautiful shoes!
- The Fairy Godmother 可是你要记住：十二点以前，一定要回家。
Kěshì nǐ yào jìzhù: shí'èr diǎn yǐqián, yídìng yào huí jiā.
But remember this: you must be home before twelve o'clock.
- The Fairy Godmother 十二点一到，马车会变回南瓜。你的衣服，也会变回灰衣服。
Shí'èr diǎn yí dào, mǎchē huì biàn huí nánguā. Nǐ de yīfu, yě huì biàn huí huī yīfu.
The moment it strikes twelve, the carriage will turn back into a pumpkin, and your dress back into the grey one.
- Cinderella 我记住了！十二点以前，一定回来！谢谢您，仙女！
Wǒ jìzhù le! Shí'èr diǎn yǐqián, yídìng huílái! Xièxie nín, xiānnǚ!
I'll remember! I'll be back before twelve! Thank you, Fairy Godmother!
- Cinderella 舞会……我真的要去舞会了！
Wǔhuì… wǒ zhēn de yào qù wǔhuì le!
The ball… I'm really going to the ball!
- Narrator 金色的马车，向王宫跑去了。
Jīnsè de mǎchē, xiàng wánggōng pǎo qù le.
The golden carriage raced away toward the palace.
- The Fairy Godmother 记住，十二点！
Jìzhù, shí'èr diǎn!
