On a dark road, a fox slips into Su Daji. At the palace the king falls for her at once, and the honest minister is sent away.

Bàba jiào wǒ qù wánggōng. Kěshì wǒ bú rènshi dàwáng, wǒ yǒudiǎn pà.
Father is sending me to the king's palace. But I don't know the king, and I'm a little afraid.
- Daji 天这么黑，路这么长。我好累，想睡一会儿。
Tiān zhème hēi, lù zhème cháng. Wǒ hǎo lèi, xiǎng shuì yíhuìr.
It's so dark and the road is so long. I'm so tired. I want to sleep for a little while.
- The Fox Spirit 睡吧，睡吧。你的脸，借我用一用。
Shuì ba, shuì ba. Nǐ de liǎn, jiè wǒ yòng yi yòng.
Sleep, sleep. Lend me your face for a while.

A gust of wind blew by. The white fox jumped onto the cart. When morning came, the one who opened her eyes was no longer Su Daji.
- Daji 这张脸真美！我很喜欢。
Zhè zhāng liǎn zhēn měi! Wǒ hěn xǐhuan.
What a beautiful face! I love it.
- Daji 走吧！快一点儿，我想见大王！
Zǒu ba! Kuài yìdiǎnr, wǒ xiǎng jiàn dàwáng!
Let's go! Faster, I want to meet the king!
- King Zhou 你……你是谁？我的宫里，怎么有这么美的人？
Nǐ… nǐ shì shéi? Wǒ de gōng lǐ, zěnme yǒu zhème měi de rén?
Who… who are you? How can there be someone this beautiful in my palace?
- Daji 大王，我是苏妲己。爸爸叫我来看您。
Dàwáng, wǒ shì Sū Dájǐ. Bàba jiào wǒ lái kàn nín.
Your Majesty, I am Su Daji. My father sent me to see you.
- King Zhou 妲己……真好听的名字。你留下来，好不好？
Dájǐ… zhēn hǎotīng de míngzi. Nǐ liú xiàlái, hǎo bu hǎo?
Daji… what a lovely name. Will you stay? Please?
- Daji 大王要我留下，我就留下。可是，我想要一样东西。
Dàwáng yào wǒ liúxià, wǒ jiù liúxià. Kěshì, wǒ xiǎng yào yí yàng dōngxi.
If Your Majesty wants me to stay, I will stay. But I want one thing.
- King Zhou 你要什么？金子？房子？我都给你！
Nǐ yào shénme? Jīnzi? Fángzi? Wǒ dōu gěi nǐ!
What do you want? Gold? A house? I'll give you everything!
- Daji 我想要一座很高很高的楼，可以在上面看月亮。
Wǒ xiǎng yào yí zuò hěn gāo hěn gāo de lóu, kěyǐ zài shàngmiàn kàn yuèliang.
I would like a very, very tall tower, where I can watch the moon from the top.
- King Zhou 好！明天就做！做两座也可以！
Hǎo! Míngtiān jiù zuò! Zuò liǎng zuò yě kěyǐ!
Done! We'll build it tomorrow! Two towers, if you like!
- Daji 一座就够了。我不贪心。
Yí zuò jiù gòu le. Wǒ bù tānxīn.
One is enough. I'm not greedy.
- King Zhou 你真好！商荣，你听见了吗？明天做楼！
Nǐ zhēn hǎo! Shāng Róng, nǐ tīngjiàn le ma? Míngtiān zuò lóu!
You're so good! Shang Rong, did you hear? We build the tower tomorrow!
- Shang Rong 大王，不可以！国家的钱，是给很多人的，不是给一个人的。
Dàwáng, bù kěyǐ! Guójiā de qián, shì gěi hěn duō rén de, bú shì gěi yí gè rén de.
Your Majesty, no! The country's money is for many people, not for one person.
- King Zhou 商荣，你的话太多了。
Shāng Róng, nǐ de huà tài duō le.
Shang Rong, you talk too much.
- Daji 大王，他不喜欢我。他想让我走。
Dàwáng, tā bù xǐhuan wǒ. Tā xiǎng ràng wǒ zǒu.
Your Majesty, he doesn't like me. He wants me to leave.
- King Zhou 谁也不能让你走！商荣，出去！
Shéi yě bù néng ràng nǐ zǒu! Shāng Róng, chūqù!
Nobody can make you leave! Shang Rong, get out!
- Shang Rong 大王……您以前不是这样的。
Dàwáng… nín yǐqián bú shì zhèyàng de.
Your Majesty… you used to be different.
- Narrator 从那天起，大王不听好人的话，只听妲己的话。
Cóng nà tiān qǐ, dàwáng bù tīng hǎorén de huà, zhǐ tīng Dájǐ de huà.
From that day on, the king stopped listening to good people. He listened only to Daji.
- Daji 大王，你爱我吗？
Dàwáng, nǐ ài wǒ ma?
Your Majesty, do you love me?
- King Zhou 爱！我爱你，比爱国家还多！
Ài! Wǒ ài nǐ, bǐ ài guójiā hái duō!
Yes! I love you more than I love my country!
- Daji 那，大王要听我的话，好不好？
Nà, dàwáng yào tīng wǒ de huà, hǎo bu hǎo?
Then will you listen to me, Your Majesty?
- King Zhou 我都听你的！你说什么，我做什么！
Wǒ dōu tīng nǐ de! Nǐ shuō shénme, wǒ zuò shénme!
I'll do whatever you say! Whatever you say, I do!
- King Zhou 妲己，你笑起来真好看。再笑一个！
Dájǐ, nǐ xiào qǐlái zhēn hǎokàn. Zài xiào yí gè!
Daji, your smile is so lovely. Smile again!
- Daji 好呀。大王喜欢，我就天天笑。
Hǎo ya. Dàwáng xǐhuan, wǒ jiù tiāntiān xiào.
Of course. If Your Majesty likes it, I will smile every day.
- Shang Rong 大王错了……妲己的笑很好看，可是不像人的笑。
Dàwáng cuò le… Dájǐ de xiào hěn hǎokàn, kěshì bú xiàng rén de xiào.
The king is wrong… Daji's smile is lovely, but it is not a human smile.
- Daji 一千岁的狐狸，才刚刚开始玩呢。
Yìqiān suì de húli, cái gānggāng kāishǐ wán ne.
A thousand-year-old fox has only just begun to play.
