On her first day on the mountain Heidi meets an eagle, a sunset like fire and her first friend. But Aunt Dete returns with news that may take her away.

That's an eagle. It's looking for food.

Hello, eagle! Do you want my bread?
- Peter 别给老鹰！给我吧！
Bié gěi lǎoyīng! Gěi wǒ ba!
Don't give it to the eagle! Give it to me!
- Heidi 哈哈，好！我们一起吃。
Hāhā, hǎo! Wǒmen yìqǐ chī.
Ha ha, all right! Let's eat together.
- Heidi 彼得！你看，山是红的！像火一样！
Bǐdé! Nǐ kàn, shān shì hóng de! Xiàng huǒ yíyàng!
Peter! Look, the mountains are red! Like fire!
- Peter 不是火。太阳下山了，山就变红了。
Bú shì huǒ. Tàiyáng xiàshān le, shān jiù biàn hóng le.
It's not fire. The sun is going down, so the mountains turn red.
- Heidi 太漂亮了……我每天都想来。
Tài piàoliang le… Wǒ měi tiān dōu xiǎng lái.
It's so beautiful... I want to come every day.
- Peter 好啊。明天我们再来。
Hǎo a. Míngtiān wǒmen zàilái.
Sure. We'll come again tomorrow.
- Heidi 彼得，你是我的好朋友，对不对？
Bǐdé, nǐ shì wǒ de hǎo péngyou, duì bú duì?
Peter, you're my good friend, right?
- Peter 我？朋友？……对，对！

Grandfather! I'm back! The mountains are red, the flowers are blue!
- Grandfather 慢点说。你今天高兴吗？

Slow down. Are you happy today?
- Heidi 太高兴了！爷爷，我明天还要去！
