King Wen wakes from a dream of a flying bear. His minister says it means a great helper is near, and they set out for the river.

- King Wen 熊在天上飞！它飞到我这儿来了！
Xióng zài tiān shang fēi! Tā fēi dào wǒ zhèr lái le!
The bear is flying in the sky! It's flying toward me!
- King Wen 是梦……只是一个梦。可是，为什么这么真？
Shì mèng… Zhǐshì yí gè mèng. Kěshì, wèishénme zhème zhēn?
A dream… only a dream. But why did it feel so real?
- King Wen 那只熊的眼睛，好大，好亮……
Nà zhī xióng de yǎnjing, hǎo dà, hǎo liàng…
That bear's eyes… so big, so bright…
- King Wen 我睡不着了。天快亮了。我要叫散宜生来。
Wǒ shuì bù zháo le. Tiān kuài liàng le. Wǒ yào jiào Sǎn Yíshēng lái.
I can't sleep now. It's almost dawn. I'll call San Yisheng.
- San Yisheng 大王，早上好。您没睡好吗？
Dàwáng, zǎoshang hǎo. Nín méi shuì hǎo ma?
Good morning, Your Majesty. Did you not sleep well?
- King Wen 我做了一个梦。梦里有一只熊，它会飞！
Wǒ zuò le yí gè mèng. Mèng lǐ yǒu yì zhī xióng, tā huì fēi!
I had a dream. In it there was a bear, and it could fly!
- San Yisheng 会飞的熊？
Huì fēi de xióng?
A flying bear?
- King Wen 对。它看着我，好像想说话。你说，这是什么意思？
Duì. Tā kànzhe wǒ, hǎoxiàng xiǎng shuōhuà. Nǐ shuō, zhè shì shénme yìsi?
Yes. It looked at me as if it wanted to speak. What do you think it means?
- San Yisheng 飞熊……飞熊……啊！大王，这是好梦！
Fēi xióng… fēi xióng… À! Dàwáng, zhè shì hǎo mèng!
Flying bear… flying bear… Ah! Your Majesty, this is a good dream!
- King Wen 好梦？真的吗？
Hǎo mèng? Zhēn de ma?
A good dream? Really?
- San Yisheng 熊很大，很有力。会飞的熊，是一个很有本事的人。
Xióng hěn dà, hěn yǒulì. Huì fēi de xióng, shì yí gè hěn yǒu běnshi de rén.
Bears are big and strong. A flying bear is a person of great ability.
- San Yisheng 他会来帮您，也会帮周国。
Tā huì lái bāng nín, yě huì bāng Zhōu Guó.
He will come to help you, and help our country of Zhou.
- King Wen 那个人在哪儿？
Nàge rén zài nǎr?
Where is this person?
- San Yisheng 我不知道，大王。可是我们可以去找。
Wǒ bù zhīdào, dàwáng. Kěshì wǒmen kěyǐ qù zhǎo.
I don't know, Your Majesty. But we can go and look.
- King Wen 好！我们现在就去！
Hǎo! Wǒmen xiànzài jiù qù!
Good! Let's go right now!
- King Wen 我们走了很久了。散宜生，这条路对吗？
Wǒmen zǒu le hěn jiǔ le. Sǎn Yíshēng, zhè tiáo lù duì ma?
We've walked for a long time. San Yisheng, is this the right road?
- San Yisheng 大王，别急。前面就是渭河。
Dàwáng, bié jí. Qiánmiàn jiù shì Wèi Hé.
Don't worry, Your Majesty. The Wei River is just ahead.
- King Wen 渭河边有什么？
Wèi Hé biān yǒu shénme?
What is there by the Wei River?
- San Yisheng 我听人说，那儿有一个老人，天天在河边钓鱼。
Wǒ tīng rén shuō, nàr yǒu yí gè lǎorén, tiāntiān zài hé biān diào yú.
I heard that an old man sits by the river and fishes every day.
- King Wen 钓鱼的老人，很多啊。这一个有什么不同？
Diào yú de lǎorén, hěn duō a. Zhè yí gè yǒu shénme bù tóng?
There are many old men who fish. What's different about this one?
- San Yisheng 可是这个老人不一样。他的钩是直的。
Kěshì zhège lǎorén bù yíyàng. Tā de gōu shì zhí de.
But this old man is different. His hook is straight.
- King Wen 直的？那他怎么钓鱼？
Zhí de? Nà tā zěnme diào yú?
Straight? Then how does he catch fish?
- San Yisheng 没有人知道。有人说，他钓的不是鱼。
Méiyǒu rén zhīdào. Yǒu rén shuō, tā diào de bú shì yú.
No one knows. Some say he isn't fishing for fish.
- King Wen 不是鱼？那他钓什么？
Bú shì yú? Nà tā diào shénme?
Not fish? Then what is he fishing for?
- San Yisheng 我也想问。大王，我们快走吧。
Wǒ yě xiǎng wèn. Dàwáng, wǒmen kuài zǒu ba.
I'd like to know too. Let's hurry, Your Majesty.
- King Wen 走！我一定要见他！
Zǒu! Wǒ yídìng yào jiàn tā!
Let's go! I must meet him!
