Wukong learns who Red Boy is and tries the old-friends trick. Then Red Boy's terrible red fire shows him that water is no help at all.

It was nearly dark. Wukong searched everywhere in the mountain for the road.
- Sun Wukong 山神！出来！我有话问你！
Shānshén! Chūlái! Wǒ yǒu huà wèn nǐ!
Mountain god! Come out! I have questions for you!
- Mountain God 大圣，别打我！我在这儿！
Dàshèng, bié dǎ wǒ! Wǒ zài zhèr!
Great Sage, don't hit me! I'm right here!

I won't hit you. A red boy took my master. Who is he?
- Mountain God 他叫红孩儿，是牛魔王的儿子。他在这里住了三百年。
Tā jiào Hóng Hái'ér, shì Niú Mówáng de érzi. Tā zài zhèlǐ zhù le sānbǎi nián.
He is Red Boy, the Bull Demon King's son. He has lived here for three hundred years.
- Sun Wukong 牛魔王？他是我的老朋友！这样说来，红孩儿要叫我叔叔！
Niú Mówáng? Tā shì wǒ de lǎo péngyǒu! Zhèyàng shuō lái, Hóng Hái'ér yào jiào wǒ shūshū!
The Bull Demon King? He's my old friend! Then Red Boy has to call me uncle!
- Mountain God 大圣，他可不会叫你叔叔。他有三昧真火，很厉害！
Dàshèng, tā kě búhuì jiào nǐ shūshū. Tā yǒu sānmèi zhēnhuǒ, hěn lìhài!
Great Sage, he won't call you uncle. He has the Samadhi fire, and it's terrible!
- Sun Wukong 火？我什么火没见过？我不怕！
Huǒ? Wǒ shénme huǒ méi jiàn guò? Wǒ bùpà!
Fire? What fire haven't I seen? I'm not afraid!
- Mountain God 这火不一样。水也没有用。
Zhè huǒ bù yíyàng. Shuǐ yě méiyǒu yòng.
This fire is different. Even water won't help.
- Sun Wukong 山神，带我去火云洞。今天晚上，我就去看看！
Shānshén, dài wǒ qù Huǒyún Dòng. Jīntiān wǎnshàng, wǒ jiù qù kànkàn!
Mountain god, take me to the Fire Cloud Cave. Tonight I'm going to have a look!
- Sun Wukong 红孩儿！出来！我是你叔叔，孙悟空！
Hóng Hái'ér! Chūlái! Wǒ shì nǐ shūshū, Sūn Wùkōng!
Red Boy! Come out! I'm your uncle, Sun Wukong!
- Red Boy 哈哈！你这只坏猴子，也想做我的叔叔？
Hāhā! Nǐ zhè zhī huài hóuzi, yě xiǎng zuò wǒ de shūshū?
Ha ha! You bad monkey, you want to be my uncle?
- Sun Wukong 好侄子，把我的师父还给我，我们就是一家人。
Hǎo zhízi, bǎ wǒ de shīfu huán gěi wǒ, wǒmen jiùshì yì jiā rén.
Dear nephew, give my master back, and we're all one family.
- Red Boy 我的爸爸没有你这样的朋友！看枪！
Wǒ de bàbà méiyǒu nǐ zhèyàng de péngyǒu! Kàn qiāng!
My father has no friend like you! Watch my spear!
- Tang Seng 悟空！我在洞里！小心他的火！
Wùkōng! Wǒ zài dòng lǐ! Xiǎoxīn tā de huǒ!
Wukong! I'm in the cave! Watch out for his fire!
- Zhu Bajie 大师兄，我来了！
Dàshīxiōng, wǒ lái le!
Big Brother, I'm here!
- Sun Wukong 八戒，小心他的枪！
Bājiè, xiǎoxīn tā de qiāng!
Bajie, watch out for his spear!
- Red Boy 你们两个都打不过我！看我的三昧真火！
Nǐmen liǎnggè dōu dǎ bùguò wǒ! Kàn wǒ de sānmèi zhēnhuǒ!
You two can't beat me! Look at my Samadhi fire!
- Zhu Bajie 好烫！好烫！我的耳朵着火了！
Hǎo tàng! Hǎo tàng! Wǒ de ěrduǒ zháohuǒ le!
Hot! Hot! My ears are on fire!
- Sun Wukong 别怕！火怕水！我跳进河里，看他怎么办！
Bié pà! Huǒ pà shuǐ! Wǒ tiào jìn hé lǐ, kàn tā zěnme bàn!
Don't worry! Fire fears water! I'll jump in the river and see what he does!
- Red Boy 哈哈哈！水？水只会让我的火更大！
Hā hā hā! Shuǐ? Shuǐ zhǐ huì ràng wǒ de huǒ gèng dà!
Ha ha ha! Water? Water only makes my fire bigger!
- Sun Wukong 啊！河水也着火了！我……动不了……
A! Hé shuǐ yě zháohuǒ le! Wǒ… Dòng bùliǎo…
Ah! The river is on fire too! I... can't move...
- Red Boy 哈哈！这就是大圣？他只是一只怕火的猴子！
Hāhā! Zhè jiùshì dàshèng? Tā zhǐshì yì zhī pà huǒ de hóuzi!
Ha ha! This is the Great Sage? He's just a monkey who's afraid of fire!
- Sha Wujing 大师兄！大师兄！你醒醒！
Dàshīxiōng! Dàshīxiōng! Nǐ xǐng xǐng!
Big Brother! Big Brother! Wake up!
- Zhu Bajie 他的脸黑黑的，身体好烫！
Tā de liǎn hēi hēi de, shēntǐ hǎo tàng!
His face is black and his body is so hot!
- Sha Wujing 那是三昧真火。河水没有用，火在水里更大了。
Nà shì sānmèi zhēnhuǒ. Hé shuǐ méiyǒu yòng, huǒ zài shuǐ lǐ gèng dà le.
That was the Samadhi fire. The river didn't help. The fire got bigger in it.
- Zhu Bajie 师父还在洞里，大师兄又不动了……我们怎么办？
Shīfu hái zài dòng lǐ, dàshīxiōng yòu bù dòng le… Wǒmen zěnme bàn?
The Master is still in the cave, and Big Brother isn't moving... What do we do?
- Sha Wujing 二师兄，先别哭。大师兄一直很聪明。
Èrshīxiōng, xiān bié kū. Dàshīxiōng yìzhí hěn cōngmíng.
Second Brother, don't cry yet. Big Brother is always clever.
- Zhu Bajie 我没有哭！是烟进了我的眼睛！
Wǒ méiyǒu kū! Shì yān jìn le wǒ de yǎnjīng!
I'm not crying! Smoke got in my eyes!
- Sha Wujing 你看！大师兄的手动了！
Nǐ kàn! Dàshīxiōng de shǒu dòng le!
Look! Big Brother's hand moved!
- Sun Wukong 八戒……水不行……我们得想别的办法。
Bājiè… Shuǐ bùxíng… Wǒmen dé xiǎng biéde bànfǎ.
Bajie... water won't work... We have to think of another way.
