A few days later, Lianxiang came again.
- Lianxiang 你的手又冷了！她又来过了，对不对？
Nǐ de shǒu yòu lěng le! Tā yòu láiguo le, duì bu duì?
Your hands are cold again! She's been here again, hasn't she?
- Sang Xiao 她只来了一次，就一次。
Tā zhǐ lái le yí cì, jiù yí cì.
She only came once. Just once.

Once? Look at your face. It's as white as paper!
- Sang Xiao 莲香，你这么不喜欢她，是因为你喜欢我吧？
Liánxiāng, nǐ zhème bù xǐhuan tā, shì yīnwèi nǐ xǐhuan wǒ ba?
Lianxiang, you dislike her so much. Is it because you like me?
- Lianxiang 我是想让你活着！你快死了，你知道吗？
Wǒ shì xiǎng ràng nǐ huózhe! Nǐ kuài sǐ le, nǐ zhīdào ma?
I want you to live! You're dying, do you know that?
- Sang Xiao 她说，我以前的病，是狐狸害的。
Tā shuō, wǒ yǐqián de bìng, shì húli hài de.
She says my sickness before was a fox's doing.
- Lianxiang 好，你听她的吧。以后你出了事，大家都会说是狐狸害的。
Hǎo, nǐ tīng tā de ba. Yǐhòu nǐ chū le shì, dàjiā dōu huì shuō shì húli hài de.
Fine, listen to her. When something happens to you, everyone will say a fox did it.
- Sang Xiao 莲香，我是开玩笑的……
Liánxiāng, wǒ shì kāi wánxiào de…
Lianxiang, I was only joking...
- Lianxiang 我走了。一百天以后，我会来你的床边看你。
Wǒ zǒu le. Yìbǎi tiān yǐhòu, wǒ huì lái nǐ de chuáng biān kàn nǐ.
I'm going. In a hundred days, I'll come and see you at your bedside.
- Sang Xiao 莲香，莲香……她真的生气了。
Liánxiāng, Liánxiāng… tā zhēn de shēngqì le.
Lianxiang! Lianxiang... she's really angry.
- Narrator 从那天起，李姑娘白天晚上都在桑晓身边。
Cóng nà tiān qǐ, Lǐ gūniang báitiān wǎnshang dōu zài Sāng Xiǎo shēnbiān.
From that day on, Miss Li was at Sang Xiao's side day and night.
- Li 那只狐狸再也不来了？太好了，那我也不走了。
Nà zhī húli zàiyě bù lái le? Tài hǎo le, nà wǒ yě bù zǒu le.
That fox is never coming again? Wonderful, then I won't leave either.
- Sang Xiao 好啊，白天、晚上，你都别走！
Hǎo a, báitiān, wǎnshang, nǐ dōu bié zǒu!
Good! Day and night, don't you ever leave!
- Narrator 两个多月过去了。桑晓越来越瘦，后来病得不能起床了。
Liǎng gè duō yuè guòqu le. Sāng Xiǎo yuè lái yuè shòu, hòulái bìng de bù néng qǐchuáng le.
More than two months went by. Sang Xiao grew thinner and thinner, until he was too sick to get out of bed.
- Li 桑公子，邻居又让人送饭来了。你吃一点儿吧。
Sāng gōngzǐ, línjū yòu ràng rén sòng fàn lái le. Nǐ chī yìdiǎnr ba.
Mr. Sang, the neighbor has sent food over again. Eat a little.
- Sang Xiao 我不想吃，给我一点儿粥吧。瘦了好，穿衣服好看。
Wǒ bù xiǎng chī, gěi wǒ yìdiǎnr zhōu ba. Shòu le hǎo, chuān yīfu hǎokàn.
I don't want to eat... just give me a little porridge. Being thin is fine. Clothes look better.
- Li 你的手，跟我的一样冷了……
Nǐ de shǒu, gēn wǒ de yíyàng lěng le…
Your hands are as cold as mine now...
- Sang Xiao 李姑娘……你是鬼吧？我真后悔，没有听莲香的话。
Lǐ gūniang… nǐ shì guǐ ba? Wǒ zhēn hòuhuǐ, méiyǒu tīng Liánxiāng de huà.
Miss Li... you're a ghost, aren't you? I really regret not listening to Lianxiang.
- Li 桑公子，桑公子！你怎么了？
Sāng gōngzǐ, Sāng gōngzǐ! Nǐ zěnme le?
Mr. Sang, Mr. Sang! What's wrong?
- Narrator 桑晓什么也不知道了。他醒来的时候，李姑娘已经走了。
Sāng Xiǎo shénme yě bù zhīdào le. Tā xǐnglái de shíhou, Lǐ gūniang yǐjīng zǒu le.
Sang Xiao knew nothing more. When he woke up, Miss Li was already gone.
- Sang Xiao 她走了……莲香说过一百天。今天，是第几天了？
Tā zǒu le… Liánxiāng shuōguo yìbǎi tiān. Jīntiān, shì dì jǐ tiān le?
She's gone... Lianxiang said a hundred days. What day is it today?
- Lianxiang 傻书生，我说错了吗？
Shǎ shūshēng, wǒ shuō cuò le ma?
Silly scholar, was I wrong?
- Sang Xiao 莲香，你真的来了……
Liánxiāng, nǐ zhēn de lái le…
Lianxiang! You really came...
- Lianxiang 我说过，一百天以后来看你。今天，正好是一百天。
Wǒ shuōguo, yìbǎi tiān yǐhòu lái kàn nǐ. Jīntiān, zhènghǎo shì yìbǎi tiān.
I said I'd come and see you in a hundred days. Today is exactly a hundred days.
- Sang Xiao 我错了，我好后悔……救救我，我想活！
Wǒ cuò le, wǒ hǎo hòuhuǐ… jiùjiu wǒ, wǒ xiǎng huó!
I was wrong, and I regret it so much... save me! I want to live!
- Lianxiang 你的病太重了，没有药能救你了。
Nǐ de bìng tài zhòng le, méiyǒu yào néng jiù nǐ le.
Your sickness has gone too far. No medicine can save you now.
- Sang Xiao 你的药呢？上次，你的药救了我啊！
Nǐ de yào ne? Shàng cì, nǐ de yào jiù le wǒ a!
What about your medicine? Last time, your medicine saved me!
- Lianxiang 这次不一样了。我来，只想跟你说再见。
Zhè cì bù yíyàng le. Wǒ lái, zhǐ xiǎng gēn nǐ shuō zàijiàn.
This time is different. I came only to say goodbye.
