Beth's room is full of babies, cats and little mittens. Then she finds a page Jo wrote about her, and asks Jo for a promise.

Beth, the babies have come to see you again! Daisy, Demi, slow down!

Tāmen cóng chuānghu xiàbian zǒu guò, wǒ jiù gěi tāmen. Tāmen yí xiào, wǒ jiù hěn gāoxìng.
When they walk under my window, I give them some. When they smile, I'm so happy.
- Marmee 贝丝，你最会让人高兴了。
Bèisī, nǐ zuì huì ràng rén gāoxìng le.
Beth, nobody makes people happy the way you do.
- Beth 乔，你写的……是我吗？
Qiáo, nǐ xiě de… shì wǒ ma?
Jo, what you wrote... is it about me?
- Jo 是你。我写得不好……
Shì nǐ. Wǒ xiě de bù hǎo…
It's you. I didn't write it very well...
- Beth “是你教我不要生气。是你让我们的家这么好。”
“Shì nǐ jiāo wǒ bú yào shēngqì. Shì nǐ ràng wǒmen de jiā zhème hǎo.”
“You taught me not to be angry. You made our home so good.”
- Beth 乔，我对你真的这么好吗？
Qiáo, wǒ duì nǐ zhēn de zhème hǎo ma?
Jo, have I really been all that to you?
- Jo 贝丝，你对我比谁都好！
Bèisī, nǐ duì wǒ bǐ shéi dōu hǎo!
Beth, you've been better to me than anyone!
- Beth 那我走了以后，你就做爸爸妈妈的贝丝，好吗？
Nà wǒ zǒu le yǐhòu, nǐ jiù zuò bàba māma de Bèisī, hǎo ma?
Then after I'm gone, will you be Father and Marmee's Beth?
- Beth 我们走的时候，能带走的，就是爱。
Wǒmen zǒu de shíhou, néng dàizǒu de, jiù shì ài.
When we go, love is what we can take with us.

I promise, Beth.
- Narrator 春天来了。一天早上，天还没有亮。
Chūntiān lái le. Yì tiān zǎoshang, tiān hái méiyǒu liàng.
Spring came. One morning, it was still dark.
- Marmee 贝丝，妈妈在这儿。爸爸也在。
Bèisī, māma zài zhèr. Bàba yě zài.
Beth, Marmee's here. Father's here too.
- Beth 妈妈……我不怕。
Māma… wǒ bú pà.
Marmee... I'm not afraid.
- Father 我们都在你身边，孩子。
Wǒmen dōu zài nǐ shēnbiān, háizi.
We're all right here beside you, child.
- Beth 你们都在……真好。
Nǐmen dōu zài… zhēn hǎo.
You're all here... that's good.
- Narrator 妈妈抱着贝丝。天快亮的时候，贝丝静静地走了。
Māma bàozhe Bèisī. Tiān kuài liàng de shíhou, Bèisī jìngjìng de zǒu le.
Marmee held Beth in her arms. Just before dawn, Beth slipped quietly away.
- Jo 她走得真轻……像潮水一样。
Tā zǒu de zhēn qīng… xiàng cháoshuǐ yíyàng.
She went so gently... like the tide going out.
- Marmee 她不累了，乔。她现在很好。
Tā bú lèi le, Qiáo. Tā xiànzài hěn hǎo.
She isn't tired anymore, Jo. She's all right now.
- Meg 艾米呢？我们要告诉艾米。
Àimǐ ne? Wǒmen yào gàosu Àimǐ.
What about Amy? We have to tell Amy.
- Father 我来写信。艾米在瑞士，信要走很久。
Wǒ lái xiě xìn. Àimǐ zài Ruìshì, xìn yào zǒu hěn jiǔ.
I'll write the letter. Amy is in Switzerland; it will take a long time to reach her.
- Jo 艾米一个人在那么远的地方……谁会在她身边呢？
Àimǐ yí gè rén zài nàme yuǎn de dìfang… shéi huì zài tā shēnbiān ne?
Amy's all alone, so far away... Who will be by her side?
