Amy's letters come from far away. At home, Jo sees that Beth's eyes are red and makes a plan of her own.

- Jo “我现在在巴黎！这儿的画，比我的梦还漂亮！”

"I'm in Paris now! The paintings here are lovelier than my dreams!"

- Narrator 乔看见，贝丝的眼睛红了。

Jo saw that Beth's eyes were red.
- Jo 贝丝，你怎么了？
Bèisī, nǐ zěnme le?
Beth, what's wrong?
- Beth 没什么。我有点儿累。
Méi shénme. Wǒ yǒudiǎnr lèi.
Nothing. I'm a little tired.
- Jo 劳里走过去，贝丝就哭了……天哪！贝丝爱劳里！
Láolǐ zǒu guòqù, Bèisī jiù kū le… Tiān na! Bèisī ài Láolǐ!
Laurie walks past, and Beth cries... Good heavens! Beth loves Laurie!
- Jo 还有一个秘密：劳里爱我。他还没说，可是我知道。
Hái yǒu yí gè mìmì: Láolǐ ài wǒ. Tā hái méi shuō, kěshì wǒ zhīdào.
And there's another secret: Laurie loves me. He hasn't said it, but I know.
- Narrator 那天晚上，乔去找妈妈。
Nà tiān wǎnshang, Qiáo qù zhǎo māma.
That evening, Jo went to find Marmee.
- Jo 妈妈，你说过，纽约的柯克太太要找人教书。我想去那儿过一个冬天。
Māma, nǐ shuōguo, Niǔyuē de Kēkè tàitai yào zhǎo rén jiāoshū. Wǒ xiǎng qù nàr guò yí gè dōngtiān.
Marmee, you said Mrs. Kirke in New York is looking for someone to teach. I want to go and spend a winter there.
- Marmee 去纽约？为什么，乔？
Qù Niǔyuē? Wèishénme, Qiáo?
To New York? Why, Jo?
- Jo 因为泰迪。妈妈，我觉得他爱我。可是我不能那样爱他。
Yīnwèi Tàidí. Māma, wǒ juéde tā ài wǒ. Kěshì wǒ bù néng nàyàng ài tā.
Because of Teddy. Marmee, I think he loves me. But I can't love him that way.
- Marmee 你想得对，乔。去吧，在纽约，你还可以写东西。
Nǐ xiǎng de duì, Qiáo. Qù ba, zài Niǔyuē, nǐ hái kěyǐ xiě dōngxi.
You're right, Jo. Go. In New York you can write, too.
- Jo 对！我白天教书，晚上写故事！
Duì! Wǒ báitiān jiāoshū, wǎnshang xiě gùshi!
Yes! I'll teach by day and write stories at night!
- Jo 贝丝，我不在的时候，帮我照顾我的大孩子。
Bèisī, wǒ bú zài de shíhou, bāng wǒ zhàogù wǒ de dà háizi.
Beth, while I'm away, look after my big boy for me.
- Beth 你的大孩子？
Nǐ de dà háizi?
Your big boy?
- Jo 泰迪啊！要对他好，好吗？
Tàidí a! Yào duì tā hǎo, hǎo ma?
Teddy, of course! Be good to him, all right?
- Beth 好，乔。我会的。
Hǎo, Qiáo. Wǒ huì de.
All right, Jo. I will.
- Narrator 十一月的一天，乔要坐火车走了。劳里也来了。
Shíyīyuè de yì tiān, Qiáo yào zuò huǒchē zǒu le. Láolǐ yě lái le.
One day in November, Jo was leaving by train. Laurie came too.
- Jo 泰迪，别这样看着我。我去纽约，就一个冬天！
Tàidí, bié zhèyàng kànzhe wǒ. Wǒ qù Niǔyuē, jiù yí gè dōngtiān!
Teddy, don't look at me like that. I'm going to New York for just one winter!
- Laurie 乔，你走也没有用。
Qiáo, nǐ zǒu yě méiyǒu yòng.
Jo, going away won't do any good.
- Jo 泰迪？
Tàidí?
Teddy?
- Laurie 我会一直看着你。如果你不听话，我就去纽约，带你回家！
Wǒ huì yìzhí kànzhe nǐ. Rúguǒ nǐ bù tīnghuà, wǒ jiù qù Niǔyuē, dài nǐ huí jiā!
I'll be watching you. If you don't behave, I'll come to New York and bring you home!
