In the middle of the river, Amy was in the black water. Jo stood there and could not move.

Amy was out. She was very cold, but she was all right.

Laurie, you saved Amy!
- Laurie 是我们一起救的。快，送她回家！
Shì wǒmen yìqǐ jiù de. Kuài, sòng tā huí jiā!
We saved her together. Quick, let's get her home!
- Amy 我的蓝帽子呢？
Wǒ de lán màozi ne?
Where's my blue hood?
- Jo 天哪，艾米！你还想着帽子！
Tiān na, Àimǐ! Nǐ hái xiǎngzhe màozi!
Good heavens, Amy! You're still thinking about your hood!
- Narrator 那天晚上，艾米睡了。妈妈和乔坐在她床边。
Nà tiān wǎnshang, Àimǐ shuì le. Māma hé Qiáo zuò zài tā chuángbiān.
That night Amy slept. Marmee and Jo sat by her bed.
- Jo 妈妈，劳里说过冰不安全。我听见了，可是没告诉艾米！
Māma, Láolǐ shuōguo bīng bù ānquán. Wǒ tīngjiàn le, kěshì méi gàosu Àimǐ!
Marmee, Laurie said the ice wasn't safe. I heard him, but I didn't tell Amy!
- Marmee 乔，别哭。艾米没事了。
Qiáo, bié kū. Àimǐ méishì le.
Don't cry, Jo. Amy is all right now.
- Jo 你叫我别生气到太阳下山。我没有听！都是我脾气不好！
Nǐ jiào wǒ bié shēngqì dào tàiyáng xià shān. Wǒ méiyǒu tīng! Dōu shì wǒ píqi bù hǎo!
You told me not to stay angry till the sun went down. I didn't listen! It's all my bad temper!
- Marmee 乔，我告诉你一个秘密。我的脾气，以前跟你一样。
Qiáo, wǒ gàosu nǐ yí gè mìmì. Wǒ de píqi, yǐqián gēn nǐ yíyàng.
Jo, I'll tell you a secret. My temper used to be just like yours.
- Jo 你？可是我没见过你生气！
Nǐ? Kěshì wǒ méi jiànguo nǐ shēngqì!
You? But I've never seen you angry!
- Marmee 我差不多天天都生气。可是我学着不让人看出来。
Wǒ chàbuduō tiāntiān dōu shēngqì. Kěshì wǒ xuézhe bú ràng rén kàn chūlai.
I'm angry nearly every day. But I've been learning not to let it show.
- Jo 那你怎么学的？
Nà nǐ zěnme xué de?
Then how did you learn?
- Marmee 学了很多年。你爸爸也帮了我。
Xué le hěn duō nián. Nǐ bàba yě bāng le wǒ.
It took many years. Your father helped me too.
- Jo 我也要学！我一定要改！
Wǒ yě yào xué! Wǒ yídìng yào gǎi!
I'll learn too! I'm going to change!
- Amy 乔？你还生我的气吗？
Qiáo? Nǐ hái shēng wǒ de qì ma?
Jo? Are you still angry with me?
- Jo 不生了。艾米，我原谅你。你也原谅我，好吗？
Bù shēng le. Àimǐ, wǒ yuánliàng nǐ. Nǐ yě yuánliàng wǒ, hǎo ma?
Not anymore. Amy, I forgive you. Will you forgive me too?
- Amy 好。乔，你过来。
Hǎo. Qiáo, nǐ guòlai.
Yes. Jo, come here.
- Narrator 两个月以后，四月到了。

Two months later, April came.
- Amy 梅格要去莫法特家住两个星期！天天都有晚会！
