Past two in the morning, Hannah wakes and goes to Beth's bed, and Jo is almost too afraid to ask what she finds.

Just after two, Hannah woke. She went to the bed and took Beth's hand.
- Jo 汉娜，贝丝是不是……走了？
Hànnà, Bèisī shì bu shì… zǒu le?
Hannah, is Beth... gone?
- Narrator 汉娜听了听，又哭又笑。贝丝不发烧了，睡得很安静。
Hànnà tīng le tīng, yòu kū yòu xiào. Bèisī bù fāshāo le, shuì de hěn ānjìng.
Hannah listened, then cried and laughed at once. Beth's fever was gone; she was sleeping quietly.

Meg! Jo! It's daybreak, and Mrs. March is here!
- Marmee 女儿们！贝丝呢？贝丝怎么样了？
Nǚ'érmen! Bèisī ne? Bèisī zěnmeyàng le?
My girls! Where's Beth? How is Beth?
- Meg 妈妈，她不发烧了！她在睡觉。
Māma, tā bù fāshāo le! Tā zài shuìjiào.
Marmee, her fever's gone! She's sleeping.
- Jo 妈妈，你看，贝丝醒了！
Māma, nǐ kàn, Bèisī xǐng le!
Marmee, look, Beth's awake!
- Marmee 我的贝丝……妈妈回来了，再也不走了。
Wǒ de Bèisī… māma huílai le, zài yě bù zǒu le.
My Beth... Marmee's home, and she won't go away again.
- Laurie 艾米！你妈妈回来了，贝丝也好多了！
Àimǐ! Nǐ māma huílai le, Bèisī yě hǎo duō le!
Amy! Your mother's home, and Beth is much better!
- Amy 太好了！劳里，我在马奇姑妈家，天天都学着不自私。
Tài hǎo le! Láolǐ, wǒ zài Mǎqí gūmā jiā, tiāntiān dōu xuézhe bú zìsī.
Wonderful! Laurie, here at Aunt March's I've been learning not to be selfish, every single day.
- Laurie 你？不自私？马奇姑妈怎么说？
Nǐ? Bú zìsī? Mǎqí gūmā zěnme shuō?
You? Not selfish? And what does Aunt March say?
- Amy 她说，我比乔好多了！
Tā shuō, wǒ bǐ Qiáo hǎo duō le!
She says I'm much better than Jo!
- Laurie 这个，我一定要告诉乔！
Zhège, wǒ yídìng yào gàosu Qiáo!
I'm definitely telling Jo that!

One evening a few days later, Jo and Marmee sat by the fire.

Marmee, I have a secret to tell you.
- Marmee 什么秘密，乔？
Shénme mìmì, Qiáo?
What secret, Jo?
- Jo 布鲁克先生拿了梅格的一只手套！他一直放在身上！
Bùlǔkè xiānsheng ná le Méigé de yì zhī shǒutào! Tā yìzhí fàng zài shēn shang!
Mr. Brooke took one of Meg's gloves! He keeps it on him all the time!
- Marmee 乔，约翰在华盛顿对爸爸那么好。爸爸和我都很喜欢他。
Qiáo, Yuēhàn zài Huáshèngdùn duì bàba nàme hǎo. Bàba hé wǒ dōu hěn xǐhuan tā.
Jo, John was so good to Father in Washington. Father and I have both grown very fond of him.
- Jo 约翰？还有呢？
Yuēhàn? Háiyǒu ne?
John, is it? And what else?
- Marmee 他告诉我们，他爱梅格。可是他想先准备好一个家，再结婚。
Tā gàosu wǒmen, tā ài Méigé. Kěshì tā xiǎng xiān zhǔnbèi hǎo yí gè jiā, zài jiéhūn.
He told us he loves Meg. But he wants to get a home ready first, and then marry.
- Jo 结婚？梅格才十七岁！
Jiéhūn? Méigé cái shíqī suì!
Marry? Meg's only seventeen!
- Marmee 对。我们也说了，梅格二十岁以前，不能结婚。
Duì. Wǒmen yě shuō le, Méigé èrshí suì yǐqián, bù néng jiéhūn.
Yes. And we told him Meg can't marry before she's twenty.
- Jo 天哪！我真想自己和梅格结婚！
Tiān na! Wǒ zhēn xiǎng zìjǐ hé Méigé jiéhūn!
Good heavens! I wish I could marry Meg myself!
- Marmee 乔，别这样说。
Qiáo, bié zhèyàng shuō.
Jo, don't say that.
- Jo 布鲁克先生会把她带走的，我就知道！
Bùlǔkè xiānsheng huì bǎ tā dàizǒu de, wǒ jiù zhīdào!
Mr. Brooke is going to take her away. I just know it!
