Thanks, Auntie Zhou. It's pouring outside! I'm a little cold.
- Xu Man 何言，你今天写了什么？
Hé Yán, nǐ jīntiān xiě le shénme?
He Yan, what did you write today?
- He Yan 我写了一句。你看。
Wǒ xiě le yí jù. Nǐ kàn.
I wrote one line. Look.
- Xu Man “今天下雨，我想喝热茶。”你真可爱！
“Jīntiān xià yǔ, wǒ xiǎng hē rè chá.” Nǐ zhēn kě'ài!
“Today it's raining, and I want hot tea.” You're so cute!
- He Yan 我不可爱。我只是喜欢下雨，还喜欢猫。
Wǒ bù kě'ài. Wǒ zhǐshì xǐhuan xià yǔ, hái xǐhuan māo.
I'm not cute. I just like the rain, and cats.
- Xu Man 好，我来写下一页。
Hǎo, wǒ lái xiě xià yí yè.
Okay, I'll write on the next page.
- Xu Man 咦？这一页有字！
Yí? Zhè yí yè yǒu zì!
Huh? This page already has writing!
- He Yan 不是我写的。
Bú shì wǒ xiě de.
I didn't write it.
- Xu Man 也不是我写的。你看，是绿色的笔！
Yě bú shì wǒ xiě de. Nǐ kàn, shì lǜsè de bǐ!
I didn't either. Look, it's a green pen!
- Xu Man “你们好。我很喜欢这本书。”
“Nǐmen hǎo. Wǒ hěn xǐhuan zhè běn shū.”
“Hello, you two. I really like this book.”
- He Yan 是谁？谁在看我们的书？
Shì shéi? Shéi zài kàn wǒmen de shū?
Who is it? Who's reading our book?
- Xu Man 周阿姨！是您写的吗？
Zhōu āyí! Shì nín xiě de ma?
Auntie Zhou! Did you write this?
- Auntie Zhou 我？我不写字，我只喝茶。我去看花了！
Wǒ? Wǒ bù xiě zì, wǒ zhǐ hē chá. Wǒ qù kàn huā le!
Me? I don't write. I only drink tea. I'm off to look at my flowers!
- Xu Man 周阿姨怎么走了？她今天很奇怪。
Zhōu āyí zěnme zǒu le? Tā jīntiān hěn qíguài.
Why did Auntie Zhou leave? She's acting strange today.
- He Yan 她的花，昨天已经喝过水了。
Tā de huā, zuótiān yǐjīng hē guo shuǐ le.
Her flowers already had their water yesterday.
- He Yan 你看，下面还有字。很小，很小。
Nǐ kàn, xiàmiàn hái yǒu zì. Hěn xiǎo, hěn xiǎo.
Look, there's more writing below. Tiny, tiny letters.
- Xu Man “你们写的字很好看。后来呢？”
“Nǐmen xiě de zì hěn hǎokàn. Hòulái ne?”
“Your writing is lovely. And then what happened?”
- He Yan 这个人都看了！从第一页到最后一页！
Zhège rén dōu kàn le! Cóng dì yī yè dào zuìhòu yí yè!
This person read all of it! From the first page to the last!
- Xu Man 有人在看我们的故事！我们有朋友了！
Yǒu rén zài kàn wǒmen de gùshi! Wǒmen yǒu péngyou le!
Someone is reading our story! We have a friend!
- He Yan 我们也写一句给他。
Wǒmen yě xiě yí jù gěi tā.
Let's write a line back to them.
- Xu Man 好！写“你是谁？我们想认识你。”
Hǎo! Xiě “Nǐ shì shéi? Wǒmen xiǎng rènshi nǐ.”
Okay! Write, “Who are you? We'd like to meet you.”
- He Yan 太短了。再写：“请出来喝茶。”
Tài duǎn le. Zài xiě: “Qǐng chūlái hē chá.”
Too short. Add: “Please come out for tea.”
- Xu Man 哈哈！好，写好了。我们去拿茶吧，何言。
Hāhā! Hǎo, xiěhǎo le. Wǒmen qù ná chá ba, Hé Yán.

- He Yan 好。我也想喝热茶。
Hǎo. Wǒ yě xiǎng hē rè chá.

- Xu Man 咦？书上又有字了！
Yí? Shū shang yòu yǒu zì le!
