Pinocchio Runs Away
匹诺曹跑了
The puppet isn't even finished before he laughs at Geppetto, steals his wig and dashes out into the street. Somebody will have to pay for it.

Jiépèituō de jiā hěn xiǎo, jiù yí gè fángjiān, hēihēi de.
Geppetto's home was tiny: just one dark room.
- Geppetto 墙上的火是画的，锅也是画的。可是看着，就不冷了。
Qiáng shàng de huǒ shì huà de, guō yě shì huà de. Kěshì kànzhe, jiù bù lěng le.
The fire on the wall is only painted, and so is the pot. But when I look at them, I don't feel so cold.
- Geppetto 眼睛，别看我了！好，拿刀，做鼻子。
Yǎnjing, bié kàn wǒ le! Hǎo, ná dāo, zuò bízi.
Eyes, stop staring at me! Right. The knife. Now the nose.
- Geppetto 鼻子长了！还在长！别长了，别长了！
Bízi zhǎng le! Hái zài zhǎng! Bié zhǎng le, bié zhǎng le!
The nose is growing! It's still growing! Stop, stop!
- Pinocchio 我的鼻子长长的！好玩！
Wǒ de bízi chángcháng de! Hǎowán!
My nose is long, long, long! Fun!
- Geppetto 别笑！不可以笑爸爸！
Bié xiào! Bù kěyǐ xiào bàba!
Stop laughing! You mustn't laugh at your papa!
- Pinocchio 你的假发！我拿到了！
Nǐ de jiǎfà! Wǒ nádào le!
Your wig! Got it!
- Geppetto 我的假发！快拿来！
Wǒ de jiǎfà! Kuài ná lái!
My wig! Give it here!
- Geppetto 我的腿！你的脚也不听话！
Wǒ de tuǐ! Nǐ de jiǎo yě bù tīnghuà!
My leg! Your feet won't behave either!
- Geppetto 你还没做好，就不听爸爸的话了……
Nǐ hái méi zuò hǎo, jiù bù tīng bàba de huà le…
You're not even finished, and already you won't listen to your papa...
- Geppetto 好了。来，爸爸教你走路。
Hǎo le. Lái, bàba jiāo nǐ zǒulù.
There now. Come, Papa will teach you to walk.
- Pinocchio 我会走了！我会跳，还会跳舞！你看，我还会跑！
Wǒ huì zǒu le! Wǒ huì tiào, hái huì tiàowǔ! Nǐ kàn, wǒ hái huì pǎo!
I can walk! I can jump, and dance! Look, I can run too!
- Geppetto 匹诺曹！我的孩子，别跑！
Pǐnuòcáo! Wǒ de háizi, bié pǎo!
Pinocchio! My boy, don't run!
- Pinocchio 再见，玉米糊！你抓不到我！
Zàijiàn, Yùmǐhú! Nǐ zhuā bu dào wǒ!
Bye-bye, Polendina! You can't catch me!
- The Policeman 站住！别跑！
Zhànzhù! Bié pǎo!
Halt! Stop running!
- Pinocchio 我的鼻子！好疼！放开我！放开！
Wǒ de bízi! Hǎo téng! Fàngkāi wǒ! Fàngkāi!
My nose! Ow! Let me go! Let go!
- Narrator 警察抓着匹诺曹的长鼻子。街上很多人都来看。
Jǐngchá zhuāzhe Pǐnuòcáo de cháng bízi. Jiē shàng hěn duō rén dōu lái kàn.
Now the Policeman had Pinocchio by his long nose. A crowd gathered in the street to watch.
- Geppetto 谢谢你！匹诺曹，跟爸爸回家吧！
Xièxie nǐ! Pǐnuòcáo, gēn bàba huíjiā ba!
Thank you! Pinocchio, come home with Papa!
- The Policeman 大家都说，你回家会打这个木偶。
Dàjiā dōu shuō, nǐ huíjiā huì dǎ zhège mù'ǒu.
Everyone says you'll beat this puppet once you're home.
- Geppetto 我？我不会打他！他是我的孩子！
Wǒ? Wǒ bú huì dǎ tā! Tā shì wǒ de háizi!
Me? I'd never hit him! He's my boy!
- The Policeman 别说了。跟我走！关你一个晚上！
Bié shuō le. Gēn wǒ zǒu! Guān nǐ yí gè wǎnshang!
That's enough. Come with me! A night in the cells for you!
- Geppetto 匹诺曹……我的木头孩子……你为什么要跑？
Pǐnuòcáo… wǒ de mùtou háizi… nǐ wèishénme yào pǎo?
Pinocchio... my wooden boy... why did you have to run?
- Narrator 警察放了匹诺曹，带走了杰佩托。
Jǐngchá fàng le Pǐnuòcáo, dàizǒu le Jiépèituō.
In the end, the Policeman let Pinocchio go, and took Geppetto away.
- Pinocchio 到家了！没有玉米糊，真好！
Dào jiā le! Méiyǒu Yùmǐhú, zhēn hǎo!
I'm home! No more Polendina. Hooray!
- Pinocchio 想吃就吃，想睡就睡！明天，我要睡一天！
Xiǎng chī jiù chī, xiǎng shuì jiù shuì! Míngtiān, wǒ yào shuì yì tiān!
Eat when I like, sleep when I like! Tomorrow I'll sleep all day!
- Narrator 天黑了。房间里很黑，也很冷。
Tiān hēi le. Fángjiān lǐ hěn hēi, yě hěn lěng.
Night fell. The room was dark, and cold.
- Pinocchio 爸爸……还不回来吗？
Bàba… hái bù huílai ma?
Isn't Papa... coming back?
- Pinocchio 谁？谁在那儿？谁在说话？
Shéi? Shéi zài nàr? Shéi zài shuōhuà?
Who's that? Who's there? Who's talking?
