Hànsī hé Ānnà zhù zài yí gè xiǎo fángzi lǐ. Fángzi pángbiān yǒu yí gè dà huāyuán.
Hans and Anna lived in a little house. Next to the house was a big garden.
- Anna 汉斯，我好想吃那个菜！
Hànsī, wǒ hǎo xiǎng chī nàge cài!
Hans, I want to eat that lettuce so much!
- Hans 哪个菜？你想吃什么，我去买。
Nǎge cài? Nǐ xiǎng chī shénme, wǒ qù mǎi.
Which lettuce? Tell me what you want, and I'll go buy it.
- Anna 不是买的。是花园里的绿菜！它看着很好吃。
Bú shì mǎi de. Shì huāyuán lǐ de lǜ cài! Tā kànzhe hěn hǎochī.
Not from a shop. The green lettuce in that garden! It looks so good.
- Hans 那是女巫的花园！那里太可怕了。
Nà shì nǚwū de huāyuán! Nàlǐ tài kěpà le.
That is the witch's garden! It's too scary there.
- Anna 我吃不到，就会生病。我们的孩子也会生病。
Wǒ chī bú dào, jiù huì shēngbìng. Wǒmen de háizi yě huì shēngbìng.
If I can't eat it, I'll get sick. Our baby will get sick too.
- Hans 可是女巫会生气的！她很不好。
Kěshì nǚwū huì shēngqì de! Tā hěn bù hǎo.
But the witch will be angry! She is not nice.
- Anna 汉斯，请你去。我真的很想吃。
Hànsī, qǐng nǐ qù. Wǒ zhēn de hěn xiǎng chī.
Hans, please go. I really want it.
- Hans 好，好，别哭，安娜。我去拿。
Hǎo, hǎo, bié kū, Ānnà. Wǒ qù ná.
All right, all right, don't cry, Anna. I'll go and get it.
- Narrator 天黑了。汉斯爬进了女巫的花园。
Tiān hēi le. Hànsī pá jìn le nǚwū de huāyuán.
It grew dark. Hans climbed into the witch's garden.
- Hans 哦，好多菜！我拿一点，快走。
Ó, hǎo duō cài! Wǒ ná yìdiǎn, kuài zǒu.
Oh, so much lettuce! I'll take a little and go quickly.
- The Witch 站住！你在我的花园做什么？
Zhànzhù! Nǐ zài wǒ de huāyuán zuò shénme?
Stop! What are you doing in my garden?
- Hans 啊！女巫！对不起！我不是坏人！
Ā! Nǚwū! Duìbuqǐ! Wǒ bú shì huài rén!
Ah! The witch! I'm sorry! I'm not a bad man!
- The Witch 你拿了我的菜！你想做什么？
Nǐ ná le wǒ de cài! Nǐ xiǎng zuò shénme?
You took my lettuce! What did you want?
- Hans 我太太要有孩子了。她很想吃这个菜。
Wǒ tàitai yào yǒu háizi le. Tā hěn xiǎng chī zhège cài.
My wife is going to have a baby. She badly wants this lettuce.
- The Witch 好，你可以拿。可是我有一个问题。
Hǎo, nǐ kěyǐ ná. Kěshì wǒ yǒu yí gè wèntí.
Fine, you may take it. But I have one problem.
- Hans 什么问题？
Shénme wèntí?
What problem?
- The Witch 孩子生了，你要把她给我。
Háizi shēng le, nǐ yào bǎ tā gěi wǒ.
When the baby is born, you must give her to me.
- Hans 给你？……我……好吧。我给你。
Gěi nǐ?… Wǒ… hǎo ba. Wǒ gěi nǐ.
Give her to you?... I... all right. I will.
- Narrator 后来，孩子生了，是个女孩。女巫来了。
Hòulái, háizi shēng le, shì gè nǚhái. Nǚwū lái le.
Later the baby was born, a little girl. The witch came.
- The Witch 孩子在哪儿？她是我的了！
Háizi zài nǎr? Tā shì wǒ de le!
Where is the baby? She is mine now!
- Anna 不要！她是我的孩子！你走！
Bú yào! Tā shì wǒ de háizi! Nǐ zǒu!
No! She is my child! Go away!
- The Witch 我叫她长发。这是那个菜的名字。
Wǒ jiào tā Chángfà. Zhè shì nàge cài de míngzi.
I will call her Rapunzel. That is the name of the lettuce.
- Hans 安娜，对不起……我很怕女巫。
Ānnà, duìbuqǐ… wǒ hěn pà nǚwū.
Anna, I'm sorry... I am so afraid of the witch.
- Anna 长发！我的长发！你别带她走！
Chángfà! Wǒ de Chángfà! Nǐ bié dài tā zǒu!
Rapunzel! My Rapunzel! Don't take her away!
- Anna 你要带她去哪儿？
Nǐ yào dài tā qù nǎr?
Where are you taking her?
- The Witch 去一个没有门的地方。你们不会再看到她了。
Qù yí gè méiyǒu mén de dìfang. Nǐmen bú huì zài kàn dào tā le.
To a place with no door. You will never see her again.
