The Log Bridge
桥上的大个子
Robin meets a giant with a staff on a narrow bridge, and the loser is whoever falls into the river. Then a young man in red comes running with soldiers behind him.

Robin looked at the giant on the bridge. The man was twice as wide as Robin.
- Robin Hood 好啊，木棍！等一下，我也去找一根。
Hǎo a, mùgùn! Děng yíxià, wǒ yě qù zhǎo yì gēn.
Fine, a staff it is! Wait a moment, I'll go find one too.
- Little John 快点儿。我不想在这座桥上，等一整天。
Kuài diǎnr. Wǒ bù xiǎng zài zhè zuò qiáo shang, děng yì zhěng tiān.
Hurry up. I don't want to wait on this bridge all day.

Ready! I've got a staff. You first, or me?
- Little John 谁先掉进河里，谁就输了。来吧，小个子！
Shéi xiān diào jìn hé lǐ, shéi jiù shū le. Lái ba, xiǎo gèzi!
Whoever falls in the river first loses. Come on, little man!
- Robin Hood 小个子？我叫罗宾！你会记住这个名字的！
Xiǎo gèzi? Wǒ jiào Luóbīn! Nǐ huì jìzhù zhège míngzi de!
Little man? My name is Robin! You'll remember it!
- Narrator 两根木棍打在一起，整座桥都在响。
Liǎng gēn mùgùn dǎ zài yìqǐ, zhěng zuò qiáo dōu zài xiǎng.
The two staffs clashed, and the whole bridge rang.
- Little John 不错！比我想的强多了！
Búcuò! Bǐ wǒ xiǎng de qiáng duō le!
Not bad! Much better than I thought!
- Robin Hood 你的手……怎么这么大？我的手好疼！
Nǐ de shǒu… zěnme zhème dà? Wǒ de shǒu hǎo téng!
Your hands... why are they so big? My hands hurt!
- Little John 小心你的脚，朋友。这座桥下雨以后，特别滑。
Xiǎoxīn nǐ de jiǎo, péngyou. Zhè zuò qiáo xià yǔ yǐhòu, tèbié huá.
Watch your feet, friend. This bridge is especially slippery after rain.
- Robin Hood 哪里滑了？我站得很……啊！
Nǎlǐ huá le? Wǒ zhàn de hěn… a!
Slippery where? I'm standing very... ahh!
- Narrator 木棍飞上了天。罗宾也飞了出去，掉进了河里。
Mùgùn fēi shàng le tiān. Luóbīn yě fēi le chūqù, diào jìn le hé lǐ.
The staff flew into the sky. Robin flew off the bridge and into the river.
- Little John 哈哈哈！你的帽子在河里游泳呢！
Hāhāhā! Nǐ de màozi zài hé lǐ yóuyǒng ne!
Ha ha ha! Your hat is swimming in the river!
- Robin Hood 好，好！我输了。你比我的弓还强！
Hǎo, hǎo! Wǒ shū le. Nǐ bǐ wǒ de gōng hái qiáng!
All right, all right! I lost. You're stronger than my bow!
- Little John 别难过。上个月，有一个骑士也掉进去了，他的马到现在还在河边等他呢。
Bié nánguò. Shàng ge yuè, yǒu yí gè qíshì yě diào jìn qù le, tā de mǎ dào xiànzài hái zài hé biān děng tā ne.
Don't feel bad. Last month a knight fell in too, and his horse is still waiting for him by the river.
- Little John 来，抓住我的手。你叫罗宾，对吗？
Lái, zhuāzhù wǒ de shǒu. Nǐ jiào Luóbīn, duì ma?
Come, grab my hand. Your name is Robin, right?
- Robin Hood 对。谢谢你。你叫什么名字？
Duì. Xièxie nǐ. Nǐ jiào shénme míngzi?
Yes. Thank you. What's your name?
- Little John 约翰。大家都叫我小约翰。
Yuēhàn. Dàjiā dōu jiào wǒ Xiǎo Yuēhàn.
John. Everybody calls me Little John.
- Robin Hood 小约翰？你这么大，为什么叫“小”？
Xiǎo Yuēhàn? Nǐ zhème dà, wèishénme jiào “xiǎo”?
Little John? You're so big. Why "little"?
- Little John 因为我小时候，是家里最小的孩子。
Yīnwèi wǒ xiǎo shíhou, shì jiā lǐ zuì xiǎo de háizi.
Because when I was a boy, I was the smallest child in my family.
- Robin Hood 小约翰，警长在到处找我。你想跟我一起住在森林里吗？
Xiǎo Yuēhàn, jǐngzhǎng zài dàochù zhǎo wǒ. Nǐ xiǎng gēn wǒ yìqǐ zhù zài sēnlín lǐ ma?
Little John, the Sheriff is looking for me everywhere. Do you want to live in the forest with me?
- Little John 警长找的人？我最喜欢这种人。我跟你走！
Jǐngzhǎng zhǎo de rén? Wǒ zuì xǐhuan zhè zhǒng rén. Wǒ gēn nǐ zǒu!
A man the Sheriff wants? That's my favorite kind of man. I'm coming with you!
- Robin Hood 太好了！我们的森林里，会有很多朋友，很多故事，还有很多很多的麻烦！
Tài hǎo le! Wǒmen de sēnlín lǐ, huì yǒu hěn duō péngyou, hěn duō gùshi, hái yǒu hěn duō hěn duō de máfan!
Wonderful! Our forest will have lots of friends, lots of stories, and lots and lots of trouble!
- Will Scarlet 救命！有人吗？兵来了！
Jiùmìng! Yǒu rén ma? Bīng lái le!
Help! Is anyone there? Soldiers are coming!
- Robin Hood 快看！一个穿红衣服的年轻人！
Kuài kàn! Yí gè chuān hóng yīfu de niánqīng rén!
Look! A young man in red!
- Will Scarlet 两位……请你们帮帮我！后面有两个兵，追了我一路！
Liǎng wèi… qǐng nǐmen bāngbang wǒ! Hòumiàn yǒu liǎng gè bīng, zhuī le wǒ yílù!
You two... please help me! Two soldiers have chased me the whole way!
- Little John 来得好。我正想再打一下。
Lái de hǎo. Wǒ zhèng xiǎng zài dǎ yíxià.
Good timing. I was just wanting another fight.
- The Soldier 站住，红衣小子！警长要见你！
Zhànzhù, hóngyī xiǎozi! Jǐngzhǎng yào jiàn nǐ!
Stop, red boy! The Sheriff wants to see you!
- Robin Hood 别怕。我的箭，比他们的腿快。
Bié pà. Wǒ de jiàn, bǐ tāmen de tuǐ kuài.
Don't be afraid. My arrows are faster than their legs.
- The Soldier 啊！我的帽子！快跑，快跑！
A! Wǒ de màozi! Kuài pǎo, kuài pǎo!
Ah! My hat! Run, run!
- Little John 哈哈！你只射了一支箭，他们就跑了。他们的腿，真的比你的箭还快！
Hāhā! Nǐ zhǐ shè le yì zhī jiàn, tāmen jiù pǎo le. Tāmen de tuǐ, zhēn de bǐ nǐ de jiàn hái kuài!
Ha! You only shot one arrow and they ran. Their legs really are faster than your arrows!
- Will Scarlet 谢谢你们！我叫威尔。他们追我，因为我不肯给他们钱。
Xièxie nǐmen! Wǒ jiào Wēi'ěr. Tāmen zhuī wǒ, yīnwèi wǒ bù kěn gěi tāmen qián.
Thank you! My name is Will. They chased me because I wouldn't give them my money.
- Will Scarlet 你们知道吗？河那边，有一个修士，谁也过不了他的河。
Nǐmen zhīdào ma? Hé nàbiān, yǒu yí gè xiūshì, shéi yě guò bù liǎo tā de hé.
Do you know? On the other side of the river there's a friar, and nobody can cross his river.
- Robin Hood 是吗？我今天已经掉过一次河了。再来一次，也不怕！
Shì ma? Wǒ jīntiān yǐjīng diào guo yí cì hé le. Zài lái yí cì, yě bú pà!
Is that so? I've already fallen in a river once today. I'm not afraid of a second time!
