The last Thursday at the teahouse. It's raining again, Lu Wei has one thing to tell her, and Jiang Ning is afraid it will be goodbye.

Thursday, seven p.m. It's raining again.
- Jiang Ning 我拿着伞，站在茶馆门口。我不想听“再见”。
Wǒ názhe sǎn, zhàn zài cháguǎn ménkǒu. Wǒ bù xiǎng tīng “zàijiàn”.
I stand outside the teahouse with my umbrella. I don't want to hear “goodbye.”
- Jiang Ning 我开了门。茶馆里，都是人！
Wǒ kāi le mén. Cháguǎn lǐ, dōu shì rén!
I open the door. The teahouse is packed!
- Auntie Wang 江宁，你来了！你看，这么多人！
Jiāng Níng, nǐ lái le! Nǐ kàn, zhème duō rén!
Jiang Ning, you're here! Look at all these people!
- Jiang Ning 王阿姨，他们是谁？
Wáng āyí, tāmen shì shéi?
Auntie Wang, who are they?
- Auntie Wang 我也不认识！他们说，是陆伟请来的。
Wǒ yě bú rènshi! Tāmen shuō, shì Lù Wěi qǐng lái de.
I don't know them either! They say Lu Wei invited them.
- Jiang Ning 窗边的桌子上，有两个杯子。陆伟在倒茶。
Chuāngbiān de zhuōzi shang, yǒu liǎng gè bēizi. Lù Wěi zài dào chá.
On the table by the window sit two cups, and Lu Wei is pouring the tea.
- Lu Wei 江宁，你来了。坐吧。
Jiāng Níng, nǐ lái le. Zuò ba.
Jiang Ning, you came. Sit down.
- Jiang Ning 陆伟，这是怎么回事？
Lù Wěi, zhè shì zěnme huí shì?
Lu Wei, what's going on?
- Lu Wei 我们不想让茶馆关门。我和姐姐给一百个人打了电话。
Wǒmen bù xiǎng ràng cháguǎn guānmén. Wǒ hé jiějie gěi yìbǎi gè rén dǎ le diànhuà.
We didn't want the teahouse to close. So my sister and I called a hundred people.
- Jiang Ning 一百个电话？那天晚上的“下一个”……
Yìbǎi gè diànhuà? Nà tiān wǎnshang de “xià yí gè”…
A hundred calls? So that night, “next one”…
- Lu Fang 是我说的！江宁，你又想错了吧？
Shì wǒ shuō de! Jiāng Níng, nǐ yòu xiǎng cuò le ba?
That was me! You got it wrong again, didn't you, Jiang Ning?
- Jiang Ning 陆芳！又是你！
Lù Fāng! Yòu shì nǐ!
Lu Fang! It was you again!
- Lu Wei 对不起。我怕做不到，你会难过。所以，我不敢告诉你。
Duìbuqǐ. Wǒ pà zuò bú dào, nǐ huì nánguò. Suǒyǐ, wǒ bù gǎn gàosu nǐ.
I'm sorry. I was afraid it wouldn't work, and you'd be sad. So I didn't dare tell you.
- Jiang Ning 又是“不敢”！
Yòu shì “bù gǎn”!
“Didn't dare,” again!
- Lu Wei 今天，大家都买了一年的茶。钱今天给，茶慢慢喝。
Jīntiān, dàjiā dōu mǎi le yì nián de chá. Qián jīntiān gěi, chá mànmàn hē.
Tonight, everyone here bought a whole year of tea. They pay now and drink it slowly.
- Auntie Wang 一年的茶？那……茶馆不用关门了！谢谢大家！
Yì nián de chá? Nà… cháguǎn búyòng guānmén le! Xièxie dàjiā!
A year of tea? Then… the teahouse doesn't have to close! Thank you, everyone!
- Jiang Ning 大家都笑了。王阿姨一边拍手，一边哭。
Dàjiā dōu xiào le. Wáng āyí yìbiān pāi shǒu, yìbiān kū.
Everyone laughs. Auntie Wang is clapping and crying at the same time.
- Lu Wei 江宁，第二杯茶，给你。
Jiāng Níng, dì èr bēi chá, gěi nǐ.
Jiang Ning, the second cup. It's for you.
- Lu Wei 我要说的那句话是：我喜欢你。
Wǒ yào shuō de nà jù huà shì: wǒ xǐhuan nǐ.
And the one thing I wanted to tell you is this: I like you.
- Jiang Ning 我也喜欢你。
Wǒ yě xǐhuan nǐ.
I like you too.
- Jiang Ning 以前，我们只说“你好”和“再见”。现在，我们有说不完的话。
Yǐqián, wǒmen zhǐ shuō “nǐ hǎo” hé “zàijiàn”. Xiànzài, wǒmen yǒu shuō bù wán de huà.
We used to say only “hello” and “goodbye.” Now we'll never run out of things to say.
