Quiet, please. I'm listening to the ground.
- Jabez Wilson 听地？地会说话吗？
Tīng dì? Dì huì shuōhuà ma?
Listening to the ground? Can the ground talk?
- Sherlock Holmes 会。有时候，地说很多话。
Huì. Yǒu shíhou, dì shuō hěn duō huà.
It can. Sometimes the ground says a lot.
- Dr. Watson 那它现在说什么？
Nà tā xiànzài shuō shénme?
So what is it saying now?
- Sherlock Holmes 它说：这里没有东西。威尔逊先生，你的店后面是什么？
Tā shuō: zhèlǐ méiyǒu dōngxi. Wēi'ěrxùn xiānsheng, nǐ de diàn hòumiàn shì shénme?
It says: nothing here. Mr. Wilson, what is behind your shop?
- Jabez Wilson 是一家银行。很大很大的银行。
Shì yì jiā yínháng. Hěn dà hěn dà de yínháng.
A bank. A very, very big bank.
- Sherlock Holmes 银行！华生，你听到了吗？
Yínháng! Huáshēng, nǐ tīng dào le ma?
A bank! Watson, did you hear that?
- Dr. Watson 听到了。可是我不明白。
Tīng dào le. Kěshì wǒ bù míngbai.
I heard. But I don't understand.
- Sherlock Holmes 别急。我们先去你的店里。
Bié jí. Wǒmen xiān qù nǐ de diàn lǐ.
Patience. First, let's go into your shop.
- Vincent 欢迎回来，先生！
Huānyíng huílái, xiānsheng!
Welcome back, sir!
- Jabez Wilson 文森，红发会没有了。
Wénsēn, Hóngfà Huì méiyǒu le.
Vincent, the Red-Headed League is gone.
- Vincent 真的吗？太可惜了，先生。
Zhēn de ma? Tài kěxī le, xiānsheng.
Really? What a shame, sir.
- Sherlock Holmes 请问，去大街怎么走？
Qǐngwèn, qù dàjiē zěnme zǒu?
Excuse me, how do I get to the main street?
- Vincent 往左走，再往前走。就到了。
Wǎng zuǒ zǒu, zài wǎng qián zǒu. Jiù dào le.
Go left, then straight ahead. You'll be there.
- Sherlock Holmes 谢谢。你在这个店几个月了？
Xièxie. Nǐ zài zhège diàn jǐ gè yuè le?
Thank you. How many months have you worked in this shop?
- Vincent 三个月了。我的钱很少，可是我爱这个工作。
Sān gè yuè le. Wǒ de qián hěn shǎo, kěshì wǒ ài zhège gōngzuò.
Three months. My pay is small, but I love this job.
- Sherlock Holmes 是吗？真好。再见！
Shì ma? Zhēn hǎo. Zàijiàn!
Is that so? How nice. Goodbye!
- Dr. Watson 福尔摩斯，你为什么看他的裤子？
Fú'ěrmósī, nǐ wèishénme kàn tā de kùzi?
Holmes, why were you staring at his trousers?
- Sherlock Holmes 不是裤子，是膝盖。你看到了吗？
Bú shì kùzi, shì xīgài. Nǐ kàn dào le ma?
Not the trousers, the knees. Did you see them?
- Dr. Watson 膝盖？他的膝盖怎么了？
Xīgài? Tā de xīgài zěnme le?
Knees? What's wrong with his knees?
- Sherlock Holmes 很脏。天天在地下的人，膝盖才这么脏。
Hěn zāng. Tiāntiān zài dìxià de rén, xīgài cái zhème zāng.
Filthy. Only a man who spends every day underground has knees that dirty.
- Jabez Wilson 地下？我的店下面，有一个地下室！
Dìxià? Wǒ de diàn xiàmiàn, yǒu yí gè dìxiàshì!
Underground? Under my shop there is a cellar!
- Sherlock Holmes 今晚十点，我们去银行。华生，带上你的枪！
Jīn wǎn shí diǎn, wǒmen qù yínháng. Huáshēng, dài shàng nǐ de qiāng!
Tonight at ten, we go to the bank. Watson, bring your gun!
