Alone in the House

The Queen stands before her magic mirror, sure that Snow White is dead. Far away, Snow White is home alone, and the dwarfs have told her to open the door to no one.

That night, everyone in the palace was asleep. The Queen was alone before the magic mirror.
- The Queen 白雪公主死了。魔镜会说我最漂亮的。
Báixuě gōngzhǔ sǐ le. Mójìng huì shuō wǒ zuì piàoliang de.
Snow White is dead. The mirror will say I'm the most beautiful.
- The Queen 魔镜，魔镜，你说，谁最漂亮？
Mójìng, mójìng, nǐ shuō, shéi zuì piàoliang?

My Queen, you are very beautiful. Beyond the mountains, in the house of the seven dwarfs, Snow White is the most beautiful.
- The Queen 什么？白雪公主？她没有死？
Shénme? Báixuě gōngzhǔ? Tā méiyǒu sǐ?
What? Snow White? She isn't dead?
- The Queen 魔镜说的都是真话……猎人没有说真话！
Mójìng shuō de dōu shì zhēnhuà… lièrén méiyǒu shuō zhēnhuà!
Everything the mirror says is true... The huntsman didn't tell the truth!
- Narrator 王后非常生气。她白天想，晚上也想。
Wánghòu fēicháng shēngqì. Tā báitiān xiǎng, wǎnshang yě xiǎng.
The Queen was furious. She thought about it by day, and she thought about it by night.
- The Queen 有她在，我不是最漂亮的。我要她死！
Yǒu tā zài, wǒ bú shì zuì piàoliang de. Wǒ yào tā sǐ!
As long as she's around, I'm not the most beautiful. I want her dead!
- Narrator 几天后，王后穿上了老奶奶的衣服。她的脸也像老奶奶的了。
Jǐ tiān hòu, wánghòu chuān shàng le lǎonǎinai de yīfu. Tā de liǎn yě xiàng lǎonǎinai de le.
A few days later, the Queen put on an old woman's clothes. Even her face looked like an old woman's now.
- The Queen 天哪，这是我吗？没关系，现在谁也不认识我了！
Tiān na, zhè shì wǒ ma? Méi guānxi, xiànzài shéi yě bú rènshi wǒ le!
Good heavens, is this me? Never mind. Now nobody will know who I am!
- The Queen 我是一个卖东西的老奶奶。白雪公主，我来了！
Wǒ shì yí gè mài dōngxi de lǎonǎinai. Báixuě gōngzhǔ, wǒ lái le!
I'm an old peddler woman. Snow White, here I come!
- The Queen 一座山，两座山……七座山！
Yí zuò shān, liǎng zuò shān… qī zuò shān!
One mountain, two mountains... seven mountains!
- The Queen 小门，小窗户……这是小矮人的家！
Xiǎo mén, xiǎo chuānghu… zhè shì xiǎo'ǎirén de jiā!
A little door, a little window... This is the dwarfs' house!
- Narrator 那天中午，小矮人都在山里。白雪公主一个人在家。
Nà tiān zhōngwǔ, xiǎo'ǎirén dōu zài shān li. Báixuě gōngzhǔ yí gè rén zài jiā.
That day at noon, the dwarfs were all in the mountains. Snow White was home alone.
- Snow White 小椅子，小桌子，你们好！我在做饭，你们和我说话吧！
Xiǎo yǐzi, xiǎo zhuōzi, nǐmen hǎo! Wǒ zài zuò fàn, nǐmen hé wǒ shuōhuà ba!
Hello, little chairs! Hello, little table! I'm cooking, so come and talk to me!
- Snow White 你们不说话？没关系，小矮人晚上回来！
Nǐmen bù shuōhuà? Méi guānxi, xiǎo'ǎirén wǎnshang huílái!
You won't talk? That's all right. The dwarfs come home tonight!
- Snow White 这个小家，我很喜欢。
Zhège xiǎo jiā, wǒ hěn xǐhuan.
I love this little home.
- The Queen 好东西，便宜卖！
Hǎo dōngxi, piányi mài!
Good wares, going cheap!
- Snow White 有人来了？
Yǒu rén lái le?
Is someone there?
- Snow White 我去窗户那儿看一看。
Wǒ qù chuānghu nàr kàn yi kàn.
I'll go and look out of the window.
- Snow White 是一个老奶奶。您好，您卖什么？
Shì yí gè lǎonǎinai. Nín hǎo, nín mài shénme?
It's an old woman. Hello, what are you selling?
- The Queen 孩子，你看！好看的带子，红的、黑的，都有！
Háizi, nǐ kàn! Hǎokàn de dàizi, hóng de, hēi de, dōu yǒu!
Look, child! Pretty laces, red ones and black ones, I have them all!
- Snow White 红红的带子……真好看！
Hónghóng de dàizi… zhēn hǎokàn!
Bright red laces... they're so pretty!
- The Queen 你开门，老奶奶卖给你。很便宜！
Nǐ kāi mén, lǎonǎinai mài gěi nǐ. Hěn piányi!
Open the door, and I'll sell you some. Very cheap!
- Snow White 对不起，老奶奶。小矮人说，不要给人开门。
Duìbuqǐ, lǎonǎinai. Xiǎo'ǎirén shuō, bú yào gěi rén kāi mén.
I'm sorry, ma'am. The dwarfs said not to open the door to anyone.
- The Queen 孩子，开门吧。老奶奶是好人。
Háizi, kāi mén ba. Lǎonǎinai shì hǎorén.
Open the door, child. This old woman is a good person.
- Snow White 她是好人吗？我开，还是不开？
Tā shì hǎorén ma? Wǒ kāi, háishi bù kāi?
Is she a good person? Do I open it, or not?
