- Jack 谢谢你，玛丽。洋葱放进去了。好香！
Xièxie nǐ, Mǎlì. Yángcōng fàng jìnqù le. Hǎo xiāng!
Thank you, Mary. In goes the onion. Mmm, what a smell!

Peter, it's stone soup! These two are making stone soup.
- Peter 石头汤？哈哈！我不信。
Shítou tāng? Hāhā! Wǒ bú xìn.
Stone soup? Ha! I don't believe it.
- Jack 老先生，看着吧。这汤会很好喝。
Lǎo xiānsheng, kànzhe ba. Zhè tāng huì hěn hǎohē.
Old sir, just watch. This soup will be delicious.
- Jack 要是有胡萝卜，就更好了。
Yàoshi yǒu húluóbo, jiù gèng hǎo le.
If we had carrots, it would be even better.
- Peter 胡萝卜？我家……我家好像有几个。
Húluóbo? Wǒ jiā… wǒ jiā hǎoxiàng yǒu jǐ gè.
Carrots? My house... I think there might be a few.
- Mary 彼得！你不是说不信吗？
Bǐdé! Nǐ bú shì shuō bú xìn ma?
Peter! Didn't you say you didn't believe it?
- Peter 我不信！可是我想看看。
Wǒ bú xìn! Kěshì wǒ xiǎng kànkan.
I don't! But I want to see.
- Jack 胡萝卜来了！好，现在汤要一点儿盐。
Húluóbo lái le! Hǎo, xiànzài tāng yào yìdiǎnr yán.
Here come the carrots! Good. Now the soup needs a little salt.
- Mary 盐？我有盐！我去拿。
Yán? Wǒ yǒu yán! Wǒ qù ná.
Salt? I have salt! I'll get it.
- Peter 我也去拿土豆！我家有几个。
Wǒ yě qù ná tǔdòu! Wǒ jiā yǒu jǐ gè.
I'll get potatoes too! I have a few at home.
- Anna 妈妈！好香啊！你们在做什么？
Māma! Hǎo xiāng a! Nǐmen zài zuò shénme?
Mama! It smells so good! What are you all doing?
- Mary 安娜，这是石头汤。旅行的人做的。
Ānnà, zhè shì shítou tāng. Lǚxíng de rén zuò de.
Anna, this is stone soup. The travelers are making it.
- Anna 石头汤？我要喝！我有白菜，给你！
Shítou tāng? Wǒ yào hē! Wǒ yǒu báicài, gěi nǐ!
Stone soup? I want some! I have a cabbage, here you go!
- Jack 白菜！你真是个好孩子。
Báicài! Nǐ zhēn shì gè hǎo háizi.
A cabbage! You are a wonderful child.
- Anna 叔叔，石头是什么味道？
Shūshu, shítou shì shénme wèidao?
Uncle, what does a stone taste like?
- Jack 石头让汤有力气！你看，汤在笑呢！
Shítou ràng tāng yǒu lìqi! Nǐ kàn, tāng zài xiào ne!
The stone gives the soup strength! Look, the soup is laughing!
- Ben 洋葱，胡萝卜，土豆，盐，白菜……还有石头！
Yángcōng, húluóbo, tǔdòu, yán, báicài… Hái yǒu shítou!
Onion, carrots, potatoes, salt, cabbage... and a stone!
- Mary 哎呀，我家还有一点儿肉。我去拿！
Āiyā, wǒ jiā hái yǒu yìdiǎnr ròu. Wǒ qù ná!
Oh my, I still have a little meat at home. I'll get it!
- Peter 一个人放一样东西。这个主意真好！
Yí gè rén fàng yí yàng dōngxi. Zhège zhǔyi zhēn hǎo!
Everyone adds one thing. What a good idea!
- Jack 肉也来了！这会是最好的汤！
Ròu yě lái le! Zhè huì shì zuì hǎo de tāng!
And now the meat! This will be the best soup ever!
- Peter 等一下！我有话要说。
Děng yíxià! Wǒ yǒu huà yào shuō.
Wait a minute! I have something to say.
- Peter 杰克，我看这块石头，就是路上的石头！
Jiékè, wǒ kàn zhè kuài shítou, jiù shì lù shàng de shítou!
Jack, I think this stone is just a stone from the road!
- Mary 什么？杰克，是真的吗？
Shénme? Jiékè, shì zhēn de ma?
What? Jack, is that true?
- Peter 你说吧！这块石头有什么不一样？
Nǐ shuō ba! Zhè kuài shítou yǒu shénme bù yíyàng?
