The light's on upstairs. Daisy's home. Nick, I'll call you a car.

No thanks, Jordan. I won't come in.
- Jordan Baker
Hǎo ba. Nà nǐ jiù zài wàibian ba.
Fine. Stay outside, then.
- Nick Carraway
Jīntiān, tāmen wǒ dōu kàn gòu le. Qiáodān yě yíyàng.
I've had enough of all of them today. Jordan too.
Shù hòubian zǒu chūlai yí gè rén, fěnhóngsè de xīzhuāng zài yuèguāng xià hěn liàng.
A man stepped out from behind the trees, his pink suit bright in the moonlight.
- Jay Gatsby
Lǎoxiōng, bié pà, shì wǒ.
Old sport, don't be scared. It's me.
- Nick Carraway
Gàicíbǐ? Nǐ zài Tāngmǔ jiā de shù hòubian zuò shénme?
Gatsby? What are you doing behind Tom's trees?
- Jay Gatsby
Lù shang chū shì le, nǐmen kàn dào le ba? Tā… sǐ le ma?
There was trouble on the road. You saw it, didn't you? Is she... dead?
- Nick Carraway
Sǐ le. Wǒmen dōu kàn dào le.
She's dead. We all saw it.
- Jay Gatsby
Wǒ jiù zhīdào. Wǒ xiǎng ràng Dàixī tíng xiàlai, kěshì…
I knew it. I wanted Daisy to stop, but...
- Nick Carraway
Gàicíbǐ… shì Dàixī kāi de chē ma?
Gatsby... was Daisy driving?
- Jay Gatsby
Shì… kěshì, wǒ huì shuō shì wǒ kāi de. Zàishuō, chē shì wǒ de.
Yes... but I'll say it was me. Besides, it's my car.
- Jay Gatsby
Líkāi Niǔyuē de shíhou, tā hěn jǐnzhāng. Tā shuō, kāichē néng ràng tā hǎo yìdiǎnr.
When we left New York, she was very nervous. She said driving would make her feel a little better.
- Nick Carraway
Ránhòu ne?
And then?
- Jay Gatsby
Nàge nǚrén pǎo le chūlai. Duìmiàn lái le yí liàng chē, Dàixī wǎng nàbiān kāi, yòu wǎng huí kāi…
The woman ran out. A car was coming the other way. Daisy turned toward it, then turned back...
- Jay Gatsby
Chē jiù zhuàng le tā. Dàixī méiyǒu tíng. Zuìhòu, wǒ zìjǐ bǎ chē tíng le xiàlai.
And the car hit her. Daisy didn't stop. In the end, I stopped the car myself.
- Jay Gatsby
Dàixī zài tā de fángjiān li. Nǐ kàn, lóushàng nà shàn chuāng.
Daisy's in her room. Look, that window upstairs.
- Jay Gatsby
Wǒmen shuō hǎo le: rúguǒ chū shì, tā jiù guān dēng, zài kāi dēng.
We agreed: if anything happens, she'll turn her light off, then on again.
- Nick Carraway
Tāngmǔ bú huì dǎ tā de.
Tom won't hit her.
- Jay Gatsby
Wǒ bú fàngxīn tā.
I don't trust him.
- Nick Carraway
Nǐ yào zài zhèr děng yí yè ma?
Are you going to wait here all night?
- Jay Gatsby
Yí yè suàn shénme? Zhème duō nián, wǒ dōu děng le.
What's one night? I've waited all these years.
Níkè qīngqīng zǒu dào fángzi hòubian. Yí shàn xiǎo chuānghu li, liàngzhe dēng.
Nick went quietly around to the back of the house. In a small window, a light was on.
- Nick Carraway
Tāngmǔ hé Dàixī zuò zài yì zhāng zhuōzi pángbiān. Zhuōzi shang zhǐyǒu lěng jīròu hé liǎng píng jiǔ.
Tom and Daisy are sitting at a table. On it, just cold chicken and two bottles of beer.
- Nick Carraway
Tāngmǔ de shǒu, fàng zài Dàixī de shǒu shang. Tāmen hǎoxiàng zài yìqǐ jìhuàzhe shénme.
Tom's hand is resting on Daisy's. They look as if they're planning something together.
- Jay Gatsby
Zěnmeyàng? Tā méi shì ba?
Well? Is she all right?
- Nick Carraway
Méi shì, hěn ānjìng. Gàicíbǐ, nǐ yě huí jiā shuìjiào ba.
She's fine. It's all quiet. Gatsby, you should go home and get some sleep too.
- Jay Gatsby
Wǎn'ān, lǎoxiōng. Wǒ zài zhèr děngzhe.
Good night, old sport. I'll wait here.
- Nick Carraway
Tā yí gè rén zhàn zài yuèguāng xià, shǒuzhe nà shàn chuāng. Kěshì, tā shǒuzhe de, shénme dōu méiyǒu.
He stands alone in the moonlight, guarding that window. But he's guarding nothing at all.
