Nick can't work in New York, and Gatsby's line is always busy. Back in the valley of ashes, Wilson has found something in a drawer, and he has not slept.

The night before, in the valley of ashes, Michaelis didn't go home. He sat up all night with Wilson.

George, it's too cold in here. Sit down and have some coffee.

Look at this dog leash. I found it in her drawer.

A dog leash? It's very nice. It even has silver on it.
- George Wilson 可是我们没有狗。没有狗，她为什么要买这根狗绳？

But we don't have a dog. With no dog, why would she buy this leash?

That man murdered her. I know it.
- Michaelis 乔治，别这么想。那辆车没停，谁也不知道是谁。

George, don't think like that. The car didn't stop. Nobody knows who it was.
- George Wilson 我跟她说过：你可以骗我，可是你骗不了上帝。

I told her: you may fool me, but you can't fool God.

George, those are the eyes of Doctor T. J. Eckleburg. That's an advertisement.

Poor man... he hasn't slept all night.

After dawn, Wilson walked off alone. By half past two he was in West Egg, asking the way to Gatsby's house.
- Jay Gatsby 我去游泳池躺一会儿。有人打电话来，就来叫我。

I'm going to lie in the pool for a while. If anyone phones, come and get me.

You're going to use the pool today, Mr. Gatsby?
- Jay Gatsby 对。夏天快过去了，我想用一次。

Yes. Summer is almost over. I'd like to use it once.
- Narrator 电话没有来。

No call came.

I'm back! Where's Gatsby?
- The Gardener 先生，刚才我们听见了枪的声音，在游泳池那边！

Sir, a moment ago we heard a gun go off, over by the pool!
- Nick Carraway 盖茨比！你在哪儿？

Gatsby! Where are you?
- Narrator 水上有一张小床。盖茨比躺在上边，不动了。
Shuǐ shang yǒu yì zhāng xiǎo chuáng. Gàicíbǐ tǎng zài shàngbian, bú dòng le.
There was a mattress on the water. Gatsby lay on it, not moving.
- Nick Carraway 水里有一点儿红红的……是血。

There's a little red in the water... it's blood.
- Nick Carraway 盖茨比，你等了一天。可是她没有打电话来。

Gatsby, you waited all day. But she never called.
- The Gardener 先生！那边……草里还有一个人！
