The Curse
诅咒
A country doctor brings Holmes an old family curse and a giant paw print. Now the last Baskerville is on his way to London, and the moor is waiting.

Baker Street, London. On a rainy morning, a walking stick sat in Holmes's rooms, left behind last night by a visitor.
- Dr. Watson 福尔摩斯，你看这根手杖！你能猜出它的主人是谁吗？
Fú'ěrmósī, nǐ kàn zhè gēn shǒuzhàng! Nǐ néng cāi chū tā de zhǔrén shì shuí ma?
Holmes, look at this walking stick! Can you guess who it belongs to?
- Sherlock Holmes 华生，你先猜。你当了这么多年医生，眼睛应该不错。
Huáshēng, nǐ xiān cāi. Nǐ dāng le zhème duōnián yīshēng, yǎnjing yīnggāi búcuò.
You go first, Watson. You've been a doctor for years, so your eyes should be good.

Fine. It says “A gift for Dr. Mortimer.” He must be an old doctor who has worked for many years, and his patients love him.

- Sherlock Holmes 手杖下面有很多泥，是乡下的泥。上面还有小小的牙印，他养了一条狗。
Shǒuzhàng xiàmiàn yǒu hěnduō ní, shì xiāngxià de ní. Shàngmiàn háiyǒu xiǎoxiǎo de yáyìn, tā yǎng le yì tiáo gǒu.
There's a lot of mud on the tip, country mud. And there are little tooth marks on top. He keeps a dog.
- Sherlock Holmes 那句话是朋友们送的，所以他要离开医院，回乡下去了。

The words were a gift from friends, so he must be leaving the hospital to go back to the countryside.

- Sherlock Holmes 莫蒂默医生，请进！您的狗还在楼下等您吧？

Dr. Mortimer, come in! Your dog is still waiting for you downstairs, I suppose?
- Dr. Mortimer 天哪！您怎么知道我养了狗？

Good heavens! How did you know I have a dog?
- Dr. Watson 别问了。跟他在一起，你很快就会习惯的。
Bié wèn le. Gēn tā zài yìqǐ, nǐ hěnkuài jiù huì xíguàn de.
Don't ask. Stay around him long enough and you get used to it.
- Dr. Mortimer 福尔摩斯先生，我遇到了大麻烦。我的朋友查尔斯爵士，上个月死了。

Mr. Holmes, I'm in terrible trouble. My friend Sir Charles died last month.
- Sherlock Holmes 请慢慢说。他是怎么死的？

Take your time. How did he die?
- Dr. Mortimer 他死在自己花园的小路上。他的脸上全是害怕的表情，可是身上一点伤也没有。

He died on the path in his own garden. His face was full of fear, but there wasn't a mark on his body.
- Sherlock Holmes 半夜里，他为什么一个人在小路上走？

Why was he out walking alone on that path in the middle of the night?

A curse? Tell us about it.
- Dr. Mortimer 三百年前，雨果爵士是个很坏的人。有一天夜里，他追一个女孩，一直追到荒野上，谁也不敢去救她。
Sānbǎi nián qián, Yǔguǒ juéshì shì gè hěn huài de rén. Yǒu yì tiān yèlǐ, tā zhuī yí gè nǚhái, yìzhí zhuī dào huāngyě shàng, shuí yě bù gǎn qù jiù tā.
Three hundred years ago, Sir Hugo was a wicked man. One night he chased a girl all the way onto the moor, and nobody dared to save her.

The next day, people found him on the moor. He was dead, and beside him stood a huge black dog with eyes as red as fire.

Since then, people say, any Baskerville who walks out onto the moor will meet that hound.
- Sherlock Holmes 很有意思的故事。可是，医生，你今天不是来讲故事的吧？

A fine story. But you didn't come here just to tell us stories, did you, doctor?

- Sherlock Holmes 还有别人看见吗？
