Baloo's Lessons
巴鲁的课
Mowgli learns the Master Words from Baloo the bear and hears Bagheera's warning about the monkeys. Then he is left alone, and a giggling voice calls from the trees.

Shí nián guòqù le. Máokèlì gēnzhe dà xióng Bālǔ, měitiān xuéxí sēnlín de fǎlǜ.
Ten years passed. Every day Mowgli followed Baloo the big bear and learned the Law of the Jungle.
- Baloo 毛克利，再说一遍。跟蛇说话，怎么说？
Máokèlì, zài shuō yí biàn. Gēn shé shuōhuà, zěnme shuō?
Mowgli, say it once more. How do you speak to a snake?
- Mowgli 又说？我说了十遍了！我想去玩水！
Yòu shuō? Wǒ shuō le shí biàn le! Wǒ xiǎng qù wán shuǐ!
Again? I've said it ten times! I want to go play in the water!

Bú huì shuōhuà de rén, zài sēnlín lǐ yǒu dà máfan. Zài shuō!
A boy who can't say the words is in big trouble in the jungle. Again!
- Mowgli 我们是一家人，你和我。
Wǒmen shì yì jiā rén, nǐ hé wǒ.
We are one family, you and I.
- Baloo 对了！这是最好的话。鸟、蛇、狼，都喜欢听！
Duì le! Zhè shì zuì hǎo de huà. Niǎo, shé, láng, dōu xǐhuan tīng!
Right! These are the best words. Birds, snakes and wolves all love to hear them!
- Baloo 还有一条法律：只有肚子饿的时候，才可以去抓吃的。
Hái yǒu yì tiáo fǎlǜ: zhǐyǒu dùzi è de shíhou, cái kěyǐ qù zhuā chī de.
There is one more law: you may only hunt when your belly is empty.
- Mowgli 那我现在肚子饿了！蜂蜜在哪儿？
Nà wǒ xiànzài dùzi è le! Fēngmì zài nǎr?
Then my belly is empty right now! Where is the honey?
- Baloo 先说法律，后吃蜂蜜！
Xiān shuō fǎlǜ, hòu chī fēngmì!
Law first, honey after!
- Mowgli 那老虎呢？老虎也喜欢听吗？
Nà lǎohǔ ne? Lǎohǔ yě xǐhuan tīng ma?
And tigers? Do tigers like to hear them too?
- Baloo 老虎？他只喜欢吃，不喜欢听。所以你要跑得快！
Lǎohǔ? Tā zhǐ xǐhuan chī, bù xǐhuan tīng. Suǒyǐ nǐ yào pǎo de kuài!
Tigers? They only like to eat, not to listen. So you must run fast!
- Mowgli 我跑得很快！我还会爬树！
Wǒ pǎo de hěn kuài! Wǒ hái huì pá shù!
I run very fast! And I can climb trees!
- Baloo 爬树可以。可是别和树上的猴子说话！
Pá shù kěyǐ. Kěshì bié hé shù shàng de hóuzi shuōhuà!
Climbing is fine. But never talk to the monkeys in the trees!
- Bagheera 巴鲁说得对。猴子没有法律。他们今天这样说，明天那样说。
Bālǔ shuō de duì. Hóuzi méiyǒu fǎlǜ. Tāmen jīntiān zhèyàng shuō, míngtiān nàyàng shuō.
Baloo is right. Monkeys have no law. Today they say one thing, tomorrow another.
- Mowgli 可是猴子很好玩！他们每天都在笑。
Kěshì hóuzi hěn hǎowán! Tāmen měitiān dōu zài xiào.
But monkeys are fun! They laugh every day.
- Bagheera 他们不是朋友，毛克利。你别忘了。
Tāmen bú shì péngyou, Máokèlì. Nǐ bié wàng le.
They are not your friends, Mowgli. Don't forget it.
- Baloo 好了好了。今天你学得不错。去，睡一会儿吧。
Hǎo le hǎo le. Jīntiān nǐ xué de búcuò. Qù, shuì yíhuìr ba.
All right, all right. You did well today. Go and sleep a while.
- Mowgli 好！我就在这棵大树下睡。
Hǎo! Wǒ jiù zài zhè kē dà shù xià shuì.
Good! I'll sleep right here under this big tree.
- Baloo 我去找蜂蜜。蜂蜜比法律好吃多了！
Wǒ qù zhǎo fēngmì. Fēngmì bǐ fǎlǜ hǎochī duō le!
I'm going to find honey. Honey tastes much better than law!
- Bagheera 你吃太多，会走不动的。我去看狼群。
Nǐ chī tài duō, huì zǒu bú dòng de. Wǒ qù kàn lángqún.
You'll eat so much you won't be able to walk. I'm going to check on the pack.
- Mowgli 大家都走了。一个人真没意思。
Dàjiā dōu zǒu le. Yí gè rén zhēn méi yìsi.
Everyone's gone. It's so boring alone.
- Monkey 嘻嘻！小朋友，你一个人吗？
Xīxī! Xiǎo péngyou, nǐ yí gè rén ma?
Hee hee! Little friend, are you all alone?
- Mowgli 谁？谁在说话？
Shéi? Shéi zài shuōhuà?
Who? Who is talking?
- Monkey 我们是猴子！我们喜欢你！来玩吧！
Wǒmen shì hóuzi! Wǒmen xǐhuan nǐ! Lái wán ba!
We're monkeys! We like you! Come and play!
- Mowgli 巴鲁说，不可以和你们说话……
Bālǔ shuō, bù kěyǐ hé nǐmen shuōhuà…
Baloo says I must not talk to you...
- Monkey 巴鲁老了，什么都不知道！我们有好多水果！
Bālǔ lǎo le, shénme dōu bù zhīdào! Wǒmen yǒu hǎo duō shuǐguǒ!
Baloo is old, he knows nothing! We have so much fruit!
- Monkey 我们住在树上，有吃不完的水果，玩不完的游戏！
Wǒmen zhù zài shù shàng, yǒu chī bù wán de shuǐguǒ, wán bù wán de yóuxì!
We live in the trees, with fruit you can never finish and games you can never stop playing!
- Mowgli 水果？就看一下……啊！你们要做什么？
Shuǐguǒ? Jiù kàn yíxià… À! Nǐmen yào zuò shénme?
Fruit? Just one look... Ah! What are you doing?
- Monkey 抓住他！走啦，走啦！
Zhuā zhù tā! Zǒu la, zǒu la!
Grab him! Let's go, let's go!
- Mowgli 放开我！
Fàngkāi wǒ!
Let go of me!
- Mowgli 巴鲁！巴吉拉！快来救我！
Bālǔ! Bājílā! Kuài lái jiù wǒ!
Baloo! Bagheera! Come save me!
