A friendly monkey shares his sweet red fruit with a hungry crocodile. But the crocodile's wife hears about the monkey and wants something far worse than fruit.

The fruit is so sweet today! Yum, yum!
- Monkey 我的树，我的果子，我的河！我真高兴！
Wǒ de shù, wǒ de guǒzi, wǒ de hé! Wǒ zhēn gāoxìng!
My tree, my fruit, my river! I'm so happy!
- Crocodile 树上的朋友，你好……我好饿。
Shù shàng de péngyou, nǐ hǎo... wǒ hǎo è.
Hello, friend up in the tree... I'm so hungry.
- Monkey 你是谁？你在水里做什么？
Nǐ shì shéi? Nǐ zài shuǐ lǐ zuò shénme?
Who are you? What are you doing in the water?
- Crocodile 我是鳄鱼。我一天没吃东西了。
Wǒ shì èyú. Wǒ yì tiān méi chī dōngxi le.
I'm a crocodile. I haven't eaten all day.
- Monkey 一天？太饿了！给你，吃果子！
Yì tiān? Tài è le! Gěi nǐ, chī guǒzi!
A whole day? That's too hungry! Here, have some fruit!
- Crocodile 啊！好甜！这是什么果子？
Ā! Hǎo tián! Zhè shì shénme guǒzi?
Ah! So sweet! What fruit is this?
- Monkey 红果子。我天天吃！再吃一个吧！
Hóng guǒzi. Wǒ tiāntiān chī! Zài chī yí gè ba!
Red fruit. I eat it every day! Have another one!
- Crocodile 谢谢你！你真好。我们做朋友，好吗？
Xièxie nǐ! Nǐ zhēn hǎo. Wǒmen zuò péngyou, hǎo ma?
Thank you! You're so kind. Let's be friends, okay?
- Monkey 好啊！河里有一个朋友，真好玩！
Hǎo a! Hé lǐ yǒu yí gè péngyou, zhēn hǎowán!
Yes! A friend in the river, how fun!
- Narrator 从那天起，鳄鱼天天来河边。猴子天天给他果子。
Cóng nà tiān qǐ, èyú tiāntiān lái hébiān. Hóuzi tiāntiān gěi tā guǒzi.
From that day on, the crocodile came to the riverbank every day, and the monkey gave him fruit every day.
- Monkey 鳄鱼，你的嘴真大！吃得好快！
Èyú, nǐ de zuǐ zhēn dà! Chī de hǎo kuài!
Crocodile, your mouth is huge! You eat so fast!
- Crocodile 哈哈！大嘴吃大果子！猴子，我想带几个回家。
Hāhā! Dà zuǐ chī dà guǒzi! Hóuzi, wǒ xiǎng dài jǐ gè huí jiā.
Ha ha! Big mouth, big fruit! Monkey, I'd like to take a few home.
- Monkey 带十个吧！给你太太吃！
Dài shí gè ba! Gěi nǐ tàitai chī!
Take ten! They're for your wife!
- Crocodile's Wife 你去哪儿了？我等了一天！
Nǐ qù nǎr le? Wǒ děng le yì tiān!
Where have you been? I waited all day!
- Crocodile 对不起！你看，我带了果子。
Duìbuqǐ! Nǐ kàn, wǒ dài le guǒzi.
Sorry! Look, I brought fruit.
- Crocodile's Wife 啊！好甜！谁给你的？
Ā! Hǎo tián! Shéi gěi nǐ de?
Ah! So sweet! Who gave you these?
- Crocodile 我的新朋友，一只猴子。他住在河边的树上。
Wǒ de xīn péngyou, yì zhī hóuzi. Tā zhù zài hébiān de shù shàng.
My new friend, a monkey. He lives in a tree by the river.
- Crocodile's Wife 猴子天天吃这个？他的心一定很甜！
Hóuzi tiāntiān chī zhège? Tā de xīn yídìng hěn tián!
The monkey eats this every day? His heart must be so sweet!
- Crocodile 心？你说什么？
Xīn? Nǐ shuō shénme?

- Crocodile's Wife 我要吃猴子的心！我要吃！
Wǒ yào chī hóuzi de xīn! Wǒ yào chī!
I want to eat the monkey's heart! I want it!
- Crocodile 不行！他是我的朋友！
Bù xíng! Tā shì wǒ de péngyou!
No! He's my friend!
- Crocodile's Wife 哎呀……我生病了……我好难受……
Āiyā... wǒ shēngbìng le... wǒ hǎo nánshòu...
Oh dear... I'm sick... I feel awful...
- Crocodile's Wife 医生说，我要吃猴子的心，才会好。
Yīshēng shuō, wǒ yào chī hóuzi de xīn, cái huì hǎo.
The doctor said I must eat a monkey's heart to get better.
- Crocodile 猴子的心……我的好朋友……

- Crocodile's Wife 明天你请他来我们家！我等你！
