The Doors Are Shut

With the beggar in the doorway and the swords gone from the walls, a hall full of suitors learns who has really come home.

Āntínuò'àosī ná qǐ jīn bēizi, zhèng yào hē jiǔ, jiàn jiù dǎzhòng le tā.
Antinous lifted a gold cup, and just as he was about to drink, the arrow hit him.
- The Suitors 安提诺奥斯倒下了！老乞丐，你射错人了！
Āntínuò'àosī dǎoxià le! Lǎo qǐgài, nǐ shè cuò rén le!
Antinous is down! Old beggar, you shot the wrong man!
- The Suitors 墙上的剑呢？都没有了！门也关上了！
Qiáng shang de jiàn ne? Dōu méiyǒu le! Mén yě guānshàng le!
Where are the swords on the wall? They're all gone! And the doors are shut!

Dōu shì Āntínuò'àosī de cuò! Bié shā wǒmen, wǒmen gěi nǐ jīnzi!
It was all Antinous's fault! Don't kill us, we'll give you gold!
- Odysseus 你们所有的金子，我都不要！
Nǐmen suǒyǒu de jīnzi, wǒ dōu bú yào!
All your gold, I don't want any of it!
- Telemachus 爸爸，剑在另一个房间里！我去拿！
Bàba, jiàn zài lìng yí gè fángjiān li! Wǒ qù ná!
Father, the swords are in the other room! I'll get them!
- Eumaeus 主人，放羊的在给他们拿剑！我去抓他！
Zhǔrén, fàngyáng de zài gěi tāmen ná jiàn! Wǒ qù zhuā tā!
Master, the goatherd is bringing them swords! I'll catch him!
- Odysseus 门托尔！老朋友，快来帮我！
Méntuō'ěr! Lǎo péngyou, kuài lái bāng wǒ!
Mentor! Old friend, quick, come and help me!
- Mentor 奥德修斯，你在特洛伊打了十年，今天怕了吗？
Àodéxiūsī, nǐ zài Tèluòyī dǎ le shí nián, jīntiān pà le ma?
Odysseus, you fought ten years at Troy. Are you scared today?
- Odysseus 不怕！你看着吧！
Bú pà! Nǐ kànzhe ba!
Not scared! Just watch!
- Narrator 门托尔是雅典娜。她变成一只小鸟，飞到了上边，看着下边的人。
Méntuō'ěr shì Yǎdiǎnnà. Tā biànchéng yì zhī xiǎoniǎo, fēi dào le shàngbian, kànzhe xiàbian de rén.
Mentor was Athena. She turned into a little bird, flew up high and watched the men below.
- The Suitors 怎么打不到他？有神在帮他们！
Zěnme dǎ bu dào tā? Yǒu shén zài bāng tāmen!
Why can't we hit him? A god is helping them!
- Eumaeus 主人，放羊的，我绑好了！
Zhǔrén, fàngyáng de, wǒ bǎng hǎo le!
Master, the goatherd! I've got him tied up!
- Narrator 求婚的人一个一个倒下了。
Qiúhūn de rén yí gè yí gè dǎoxià le.
One by one, the suitors fell.
- The Old Nurse 孩子！他们都死了！太好了！
Háizi! Tāmen dōu sǐ le! Tài hǎo le!
Child! They're all dead! Wonderful!
- Odysseus 奶妈，别笑了。人死了，我们不能笑他们。
Nǎimā, bié xiào le. Rén sǐ le, wǒmen bù néng xiào tāmen.
Nurse, stop laughing. They're dead; we mustn't laugh at them.
- The Old Nurse 好，孩子，你说得对。
Hǎo, háizi, nǐ shuō de duì.
All right, child. You're right.
- Odysseus 奶妈，家里的女人，谁帮了他们？
Nǎimā, jiā li de nǚrén, shéi bāng le tāmen?
Nurse, the women of the house: who helped them?
- The Old Nurse 有十二个。她们天天帮那些坏人。
Yǒu shí'èr gè. Tāmen tiāntiān bāng nàxiē huàirén.
Twelve of them. Every day they helped those bad men.
- Odysseus 叫她们来，把这里洗干净。
Jiào tāmen lái, bǎ zhèlǐ xǐ gānjìng.
Call them here to wash this place clean.
- Narrator 她们洗好了。后来，她们和放羊的，也都死了。
Tāmen xǐ hǎo le. Hòulái, tāmen hé fàngyáng de, yě dōu sǐ le.
They washed it all clean. Later, they and the goatherd died too.
- Telemachus 爸爸，妈妈还在楼上，什么都不知道。
Bàba, māma hái zài lóushàng, shénme dōu bù zhīdào.
Father, Mother's still upstairs, and she doesn't know a thing.
- Odysseus 奶妈，去楼上，叫佩涅洛佩起来吧。
Nǎimā, qù lóushàng, jiào Pèinièluòpèi qǐlai ba.
Nurse, go upstairs and wake Penelope.
- The Old Nurse 我老了，可是今天，我跑着去！
Wǒ lǎo le, kěshì jīntiān, wǒ pǎozhe qù!
I'm old, but today I'll run!
