A goddess wants the shining pearl, and the dragon and phoenix say no. That night, while the village sleeps in its glow, something happens.

I am Queen Mother Wangmu. I live in the great house in the sky.

Sān nián? Nǐmen lèi le ba. Zhè ge zhēnzhū, gěi wǒ ba.
Three years? You must be tired. Give this pearl to me.
- Jinfeng, the Golden Phoenix 不行！我们不给！
Bù xíng! Wǒmen bù gěi!
No way! We won't give it!
- Queen Mother of the West 为什么？我是天上的娘娘！我要什么，就有什么！
Wèishénme? Wǒ shì tiān shàng de niángniang! Wǒ yào shénme, jiù yǒu shénme!
Why not? I am the queen of the sky! Whatever I want, I get!
- Yulong, the Jade Dragon 可是，我们想让山下的人有光。
Kěshì, wǒmen xiǎng ràng shān xià de rén yǒu guāng.
But we want the people down below to have light.
- Queen Mother of the West 啊？好吧。你们去吧。我明天再来看。
Á? Hǎo ba. Nǐmen qù ba. Wǒ míngtiān zài lái kàn.
Oh? Fine. Go ahead. I'll come back tomorrow to see it.
- Jinfeng, the Golden Phoenix 她为什么笑？我不喜欢她的笑。
Tā wèishénme xiào? Wǒ bù xǐhuan tā de xiào.
Why is she smiling? I don't like her smile.
- Yulong, the Jade Dragon 别怕。我们快去山下吧！
Bié pà. Wǒmen kuài qù shān xià ba!
Don't worry. Let's hurry down the mountain!
- Old Farmer 太黑了！我什么也看不见！
Tài hēi le! Wǒ shénme yě kàn bú jiàn!
It's too dark! I can't see a thing!
- Little Girl 爷爷，你看！天上有光！
Yéye, nǐ kàn! Tiān shàng yǒu guāng!
Grandpa, look! There's a light in the sky!
- Old Farmer 是月亮吗？不对，月亮没有这么大。
Shì yuèliang ma? Bú duì, yuèliang méiyǒu zhème dà.
Is it the moon? No, the moon isn't this big.
- Yulong, the Jade Dragon 不是月亮。是我们的珍珠！
Bú shì yuèliang. Shì wǒmen de zhēnzhū!
It's not the moon. It's our pearl!
- Jinfeng, the Golden Phoenix 您好！我们给你们带来了光。
Nín hǎo! Wǒmen gěi nǐmen dài lái le guāng.
Hello! We've brought you light.
- Little Girl 啊！龙！凤凰！是真的吗？
Ā! Lóng! Fènghuáng! Shì zhēn de ma?
Wow! A dragon! A phoenix! Is it real?
- Old Farmer 太好了！现在我可以看见我的家了！
Tài hǎo le! Xiànzài wǒ kěyǐ kàn jiàn wǒ de jiā le!
Wonderful! Now I can see my house!
- Little Girl 我晚上也可以玩了！谢谢你们！
Wǒ wǎnshang yě kěyǐ wán le! Xièxie nǐmen!
Now I can play at night too! Thank you!
- Yulong, the Jade Dragon 不用谢。人们高兴，我们也高兴。
Bù yòng xiè. Rénmen gāoxìng, wǒmen yě gāoxìng.
You're welcome. When people are happy, we're happy too.
- Jinfeng, the Golden Phoenix 玉龙，我好累……我们睡一会儿吧。
Yùlóng, wǒ hǎo lèi... Wǒmen shuì yíhuìr ba.
Yulong, I'm so tired... Let's sleep for a little while.
- Queen Mother of the West 睡吧，睡吧。这个珍珠是我的了！
Shuì ba, shuì ba. Zhè ge zhēnzhū shì wǒ de le!
Sleep, sleep. This pearl is mine now!
- Yulong, the Jade Dragon 什么声音？金凤，起来！
Shénme shēngyīn? Jīnfèng, qǐlái!
What's that noise? Jinfeng, wake up!
- Jinfeng, the Golden Phoenix 珍珠没有了！玉龙，你看天上！
Zhēnzhū méiyǒu le! Yùlóng, nǐ kàn tiān shàng!
The pearl is gone! Yulong, look at the sky!
- Queen Mother of the West 哈哈！再见了，龙和凤凰！
Hāhā! Zàijiàn le, lóng hé fènghuáng!
Ha ha! Goodbye, little dragon, little phoenix!
- Yulong, the Jade Dragon 娘娘拿了我们的珍珠！
Niángniang ná le wǒmen de zhēnzhū!
The queen took our pearl!
- Jinfeng, the Golden Phoenix 快追！不能让她走！
Kuài zhuī! Bù néng ràng tā zǒu!
Chase her! We can't let her get away!
- Yulong, the Jade Dragon 金凤，快！我们快追她！我们要把珍珠拿回来！
Jīnfèng, kuài! Wǒmen kuài zhuī tā! Wǒmen yào bǎ zhēnzhū ná huílái!
Jinfeng, hurry! We're going to get our pearl back!
