Yì nián guòqù le. Rénmen shuō, Zhōng Kuí chéng le shén. Tā zhuā guǐ, bǎohù dàjiā.
A year went by. People said Zhong Kui had become a spirit. He caught ghosts and protected everyone.
- The Emperor 我病了一个月……药喝了很多，都没有用。
Wǒ bìng le yí gè yuè… yào hē le hěn duō, dōu méiyǒu yòng.
I've been sick for a month… I've drunk so much medicine, and none of it helps.
- The Consort 陛下，别想了。这是我的香包，放在您身边。
Bìxià, bié xiǎng le. Zhè shì wǒ de xiāngbāo, fàng zài nín shēnbiān.
Don't dwell on it, Your Majesty. This is my perfume pouch. I'll put it right beside you.
- The Emperor 好香啊！比药好！我的玉笛呢？
Hǎo xiāng a! Bǐ yào hǎo! Wǒ de yùdí ne?
Mmm, it smells lovely! Better than medicine! Where is my jade flute?
- The Consort 药也要喝，陛下！玉笛在这儿。晚安。
Yào yě yào hē, bìxià! Yùdí zài zhèr. Wǎn'ān.
You still have to drink your medicine, Your Majesty! Your jade flute is right here. Good night.
- The Emperor 晚安……好累啊……我睡了……
Wǎn'ān… hǎo lèi a… wǒ shuì le…
Good night… I'm so tired… I'm falling asleep…
- Little Ghost 嘻嘻，皇帝睡了！好多好东西！
Xīxī, huángdì shuì le! Hǎo duō hǎo dōngxi!
Hee hee, the emperor's asleep! So many nice things!
- Little Ghost 这是什么？好香！是我的了！
Zhè shì shénme? Hǎo xiāng! Shì wǒ de le!
What's this? It smells so good! It's mine now!
- The Emperor 谁？谁在那儿？
Shéi? Shéi zài nàr?
Who? Who's there?
- Little Ghost 是我！我从门下边进来的！
Shì wǒ! Wǒ cóng mén xiàbian jìnlái de!
It's me! I came in under the door!
- The Emperor 你是什么？蓝色的脸，只穿一只鞋？
Nǐ shì shénme? Lánsè de liǎn, zhǐ chuān yì zhī xié?
What are you? A blue face, and only one shoe?
- Little Ghost 一只穿，一只挂着，这样跑得快！
Yì zhī chuān, yì zhī guà zhe, zhèyàng pǎo de kuài!
One on, one hanging on my belt. That way I run faster!
- The Emperor 那是贵妃的香包！放下！
Nà shì guìfēi de xiāngbāo! Fàngxià!
That's my consort's perfume pouch! Put it down!
- Little Ghost 不放！还有玉笛！也是我的了！
Bú fàng! Hái yǒu yùdí! Yě shì wǒ de le!
Nope! And there's a jade flute! That's mine too!
- The Emperor 那是我的玉笛！还给我！
Nà shì wǒ de yùdí! Huán gěi wǒ!
That's my jade flute! Give it back!
- Little Ghost 皇帝，你听！我吹得好听吗？
Huángdì, nǐ tīng! Wǒ chuī de hǎotīng ma?
Listen, Emperor! Don't I play beautifully?
- The Emperor 太难听了！别吹了，别吹了！
Tài nántīng le! Bié chuī le, bié chuī le!
That's dreadful! Stop it, stop it!
- The Emperor 小鬼！你叫什么名字？
Xiǎoguǐ! Nǐ jiào shénme míngzi?
You little ghost! What's your name?
- Little Ghost 我叫虚耗！我最喜欢拿别人的东西。你不高兴，我就高兴！
Wǒ jiào Xūhào! Wǒ zuì xǐhuan ná biéren de dōngxi. Nǐ bù gāoxìng, wǒ jiù gāoxìng!
My name is Xuhao! I love taking other people's things. When you're unhappy, I'm happy!
- The Emperor 虚耗？这个名字也不好听！来人！快来人！
Xūhào? Zhège míngzi yě bù hǎotīng! Lái rén! Kuài lái rén!
Xuhao? Even your name sounds bad! Guards! Somebody come quickly!
- Little Ghost 叫吧，叫吧！谁也听不到！
Jiào ba, jiào ba! Shéi yě tīng bú dào!
Shout all you like! Nobody can hear you!
- The Emperor 我想起床……可是我没有力气！
Wǒ xiǎng qǐchuáng… kěshì wǒ méiyǒu lìqi!
I want to get up… but I have no strength!
- Little Ghost 你起不来！我跑得快！嘻嘻！
Nǐ qǐ bù lái! Wǒ pǎo de kuài! Xīxī!
You can't get up! And I run fast! Hee hee!
- The Emperor 我是皇帝……可是，我抓不到一个小鬼！
Wǒ shì huángdì… kěshì, wǒ zhuā bú dào yí gè xiǎoguǐ!
I'm the emperor… and I can't catch one little ghost!
- Little Ghost 再见了，皇帝！玉笛和香包，都是我的了！
Zàijiàn le, huángdì! Yùdí hé xiāngbāo, dōu shì wǒ de le!
Bye-bye, Emperor! The flute and the pouch are all mine!
- Zhong Kui 小鬼！站住！
Xiǎoguǐ! Zhànzhù!
Little ghost! Stop right there!
- Little Ghost 红衣服……大胡子……是钟馗！钟馗来了！
Hóng yīfu… dà húzi… shì Zhōng Kuí! Zhōng Kuí lái le!
A red robe… a big beard… it's Zhong Kui! Zhong Kui's here!
