Nezha Stirs the Sea
哪吒闹海
A seven-year-old boy washes his red sash in the sea and shakes a dragon palace. A fight with a dragon prince ends badly, and a whole town is in danger.

Summer, by the Eastern Sea. Seven-year-old Nezha came to the shore to wash his red sash, the Heaven-Mixing Silk.
- Nezha 大海！我来了！混天绫，我来给你洗个澡！
Dàhǎi! Wǒ lái le! Hùntiānlíng, wǒ lái gěi nǐ xǐ ge zǎo!
Ocean, I'm here! Silk, I'm going to give you a bath!
- Nezha 哈哈，水红了！你看，海也变成红色的了！
Hā hā, shuǐ hóng le! Nǐ kàn, hǎi yě biànchéng hóngsè de le!
Ha ha, the water's turning red! Look, even the sea is red!

Shéi zài wǒ fùwáng de hǎi lǐ húnào? Nǐ shì shéi jiā de háizi?
Who is making trouble in my father's sea? Whose child are you?
- Nezha 我是哪吒，李靖的儿子。你是谁？你的头上怎么有角？
Wǒ shì Nézha, Lǐ Jìng de érzi. Nǐ shì shéi? Nǐ de tóu shàng zěnme yǒu jiǎo?
I'm Nezha, Li Jing's son. Who are you? Why do you have horns on your head?
- Ao Bing 我是东海龙王的三太子敖丙！你打伤了我的夜叉，快跟我去认错！
Wǒ shì Dōnghǎi Lóngwáng de sān tàizǐ Áo Bǐng! Nǐ dǎshāng le wǒ de yèchā, kuài gēn wǒ qù rèncuò!
I'm Ao Bing, the third prince of the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea! You hurt my sea guard. Come apologize right now!
- Nezha 是他先要用斧头打我的！我没有错，我不认错！
Shì tā xiān yào yòng fǔtou dǎ wǒ de! Wǒ méiyǒu cuò, wǒ bú rèncuò!
He was the one who tried to hit me with an axe first! I did nothing wrong, and I won't apologize!
- Ao Bing 那我们就来比一比，看谁更厉害！
Nà wǒmen jiù lái bǐ yi bǐ, kàn shéi gèng lìhai!
Then let's have a contest and see who is stronger!
- Nezha 我有乾坤圈，还有混天绫。三太子，你可要小心，我打起来很快！
Wǒ yǒu qiánkūnquān, hái yǒu hùntiānlíng. Sān tàizǐ, nǐ kě yào xiǎoxīn, wǒ dǎ qǐlái hěn kuài!
I have the Universe Ring and the Heaven-Mixing Silk. Prince, you'd better be careful, I fight fast!
- Narrator 海上起了大风。两个孩子打在了一起，红光和白浪飞上了天。
Hǎi shàng qǐ le dàfēng. Liǎng gè háizi dǎ zài le yìqǐ, hóng guāng hé bái làng fēi shàng le tiān.
A great wind rose over the sea. The two boys fought, and red light and white waves flew into the sky.
- Ao Bing 啊！好疼……父王，父王，救我！
Ā! Hǎo téng… Fùwáng, fùwáng, jiù wǒ!
Ah! It hurts... Father, Father, save me!
- Nezha 你……你变成了一条龙？我没想到会这样。你别动，我看看你。
Nǐ… nǐ biànchéng le yì tiáo lóng? Wǒ méi xiǎngdào huì zhèyàng. Nǐ bié dòng, wǒ kànkan nǐ.
You... you turned into a dragon? I didn't think it would go like this. Don't move, let me look at you.
- Narrator 敖丙没有再回答。哪吒站在海边，很久很久没有说话。
Áo Bǐng méiyǒu zài huídá. Nézha zhàn zài hǎibiān, hěn jiǔ hěn jiǔ méiyǒu shuōhuà.
Ao Bing did not answer again. Nezha stood on the shore and did not speak for a long, long time.
- Nezha 他真的不动了吗？我只是想玩，我不是想……
Tā zhēn de bú dòng le ma? Wǒ zhǐshì xiǎng wán, wǒ bú shì xiǎng…
He really isn't moving? I only wanted to play. I didn't want to...
- The Dragon King 李靖！你给我出来！你的儿子害了我的三太子！
Lǐ Jìng! Nǐ gěi wǒ chūlái! Nǐ de érzi hài le wǒ de sān tàizǐ!
Li Jing! Come out here! Your son has killed my third prince!
- Li Jing 龙王大人，请您别生气。我的孩子才七岁，他不懂事……
Lóngwáng dàrén, qǐng nín bié shēngqì. Wǒ de háizi cái qī suì, tā bù dǒngshì…
Lord Dragon King, please don't be angry. My child is only seven. He doesn't know better...
- The Dragon King 七岁？他打伤了我的夜叉，又害了我的儿子！
Qī suì? Tā dǎshāng le wǒ de yèchā, yòu hài le wǒ de érzi!
Seven? He hurt my sea guard and took my son from me!
- The Dragon King 我要让海水淹了陈塘关！我要让海一直涨到山那么高！
Wǒ yào ràng hǎishuǐ yān le Chéntángguān! Wǒ yào ràng hǎi yìzhí zhǎng dào shān nàme gāo!
I will flood Chentang Pass! I will make the sea rise as high as the mountains!
- Li Jing 哪吒！你都做了什么？全城的人，都要因为你受苦了！
Nézha! Nǐ dōu zuò le shénme? Quán chéng de rén, dōu yào yīnwèi nǐ shòukǔ le!
Nezha! What have you done? The whole town will suffer because of you!
- Nezha 爸爸，我只是想洗我的混天绫……我真的不是故意的。
Bàba, wǒ zhǐshì xiǎng xǐ wǒ de hùntiānlíng… wǒ zhēn de bú shì gùyì de.
Father, I only wanted to wash my silk... I really didn't mean it.
- The Dragon King 不用说了！大海，涨起来！
Bú yòng shuō le! Dàhǎi, zhǎng qǐlái!
Enough talk! Sea, rise!
- Li Jing 龙王大人，求您了！孩子做错了事，请不要伤害全城的人！
Lóngwáng dàrén, qiú nín le! Háizi zuò cuò le shì, qǐng bú yào shānghài quán chéng de rén!
Lord Dragon King, I beg you! The child did wrong, but please don't hurt the whole town!
- The Dragon King 我的儿子再也回不来了！你们要拿什么还我？
Wǒ de érzi zài yě huí bu lái le! Nǐmen yào ná shénme huán wǒ?
My son can never come back! What will you give me in return?
- Nezha 全城的人都在哭……妈妈也在哭。都是因为我。
Quán chéng de rén dōu zài kū… māma yě zài kū. Dōu shì yīnwèi wǒ.
The whole town is crying... Mother is crying too. It's all because of me.
- Nezha 我的命，是爸爸妈妈给我的。那我就还给他们。
Wǒ de mìng, shì bàba māma gěi wǒ de. Nà wǒ jiù huán gěi tāmen.
My life was given to me by Father and Mother. Then I will give it back to them.
- Nezha 龙王！请你听我说！
Lóngwáng! Qǐng nǐ tīng wǒ shuō!
Dragon King! Listen to me!
- Nezha 是我打了你的儿子，不是别人。请你不要伤害陈塘关的人！
Shì wǒ dǎ le nǐ de érzi, bú shì biérén. Qǐng nǐ bú yào shānghài Chéntángguān de rén!
It was I who fought your son, no one else. Please don't hurt the people of Chentang Pass!
- Nezha 我一个人做的事，我一个人来还！
Wǒ yí gè rén zuò de shì, wǒ yí gè rén lái huán!
