The House Above the Clouds
云上的大房子
At the top of the beanstalk, Jack finds a road across the clouds, a door taller than his whole house, and a big woman with a warning about her husband.

Jack climbed up and up for a long, long time.
- Jack 好高啊！我家的房子，现在像一个小鸡蛋！
Hǎo gāo a! Wǒ jiā de fángzi, xiànzài xiàng yí gè xiǎo jīdàn!
So high! From up here, our house looks like a little egg!
- Jack 这是……云！我到云上边了！
Zhè shì… yún! Wǒ dào yún shàngbian le!
These are… clouds! I'm up above the clouds!

A long, long road ran across the clouds, and at the end of it stood a huge, huge house.
- Jack 好大的门！比我家的房子还高！
Hǎo dà de mén! Bǐ wǒ jiā de fángzi hái gāo!
What a huge door! It's taller than our whole house!
- The Giant's Wife 喂！小孩！你是谁？
Wèi! Xiǎohái! Nǐ shì shéi?
Hey! Little boy! Who are you?
- Jack 您好……您好高啊！我叫杰克。您有早饭吗？我好饿！
Nín hǎo… nín hǎo gāo a! Wǒ jiào Jiékè. Nín yǒu zǎofàn ma? Wǒ hǎo è!
Hello… wow, you're so tall! I'm Jack. Do you have any breakfast? I'm starving!
- The Giant's Wife 早饭？快走吧！这是巨人的家。巨人最喜欢吃小孩！
Zǎofàn? Kuài zǒu ba! Zhè shì jùrén de jiā. Jùrén zuì xǐhuan chī xiǎohái!
Breakfast? You'd better run! This is the giant's house, and what the giant likes best is eating children!
- Jack 可是我很小，没有肉，一点儿也不好吃！
Kěshì wǒ hěn xiǎo, méiyǒu ròu, yìdiǎnr yě bù hǎochī!
But I'm tiny, there's no meat on me, and I wouldn't taste good at all!
- The Giant's Wife 你这个孩子！好吧，快进来，吃点儿东西。
Nǐ zhège háizi! Hǎo ba, kuài jìnlái, chī diǎnr dōngxi.
Oh, you rascal! All right, come in quickly and have a bite to eat.
- Narrator 巨人太太给了杰克面包和牛奶。
Jùrén tàitai gěi le Jiékè miànbāo hé niúnǎi.
The giant's wife gave Jack some bread and milk.
- Jack 这个面包比我的头还大！真好吃！
Zhège miànbāo bǐ wǒ de tóu hái dà! Zhēn hǎochī!
This bread is bigger than my head! It's delicious!
- The Giant's Wife 慢点儿吃……不，快点儿吃！他马上就回来了！
Màn diǎnr chī… bù, kuài diǎnr chī! Tā mǎshàng jiù huílái le!
Slow down… no, eat faster! He'll be home any minute!
- The Giant's Wife 你听！路都在动……他回来了！快，进炉子里去！
Nǐ tīng! Lù dōu zài dòng… tā huílái le! Kuài, jìn lúzi lǐ qù!
Listen! The road is shaking… he's back! Quick, get into the oven!
- The Giant 闻一闻！找一找！小孩的味道我知道！小孩小孩你别跑！
Wén yi wén! Zhǎo yi zhǎo! Xiǎohái de wèidao wǒ zhīdào! Xiǎohái xiǎohái nǐ bié pǎo!
Sniff, sniff! Seek, seek! A child I smell, I know it well! Little child, little child, don't you run!
- The Giant's Wife 你又来了！哪儿有小孩？你闻到的是早饭！
Nǐ yòu lái le! Nǎr yǒu xiǎohái? Nǐ wén dào de shì zǎofàn!
There you go again! What child? All you can smell is your breakfast!
- The Giant 早饭？好！老婆，快拿来！我要三只鸡，五个面包！
Zǎofàn? Hǎo! Lǎopo, kuài ná lái! Wǒ yào sān zhī jī, wǔ gè miànbāo!
Breakfast? Good! Wife, bring it, quick! I want three chickens and five loaves of bread!
- Narrator 巨人吃完早饭，拿出了三包金子。
Jùrén chī wán zǎofàn, ná chū le sān bāo jīnzi.
When the giant had finished his breakfast, he took out three bags of gold.
- The Giant 一包，两包，三包……我的金子，都是我的！
Yì bāo, liǎng bāo, sān bāo… wǒ de jīnzi, dōu shì wǒ de!
One bag, two bags, three bags… My gold, and every bit of it mine!
- Jack 这么多金子……我们家一点儿钱也没有……
Zhème duō jīnzi… wǒmen jiā yìdiǎnr qián yě méiyǒu…
So much gold… and at home we don't have a single penny…
- The Giant 一包，两包……好累啊……
Yì bāo, liǎng bāo… hǎo lèi a…
One bag, two bags… I'm so tired…
- Jack 他睡了！我拿一包……只拿一包！
Tā shuì le! Wǒ ná yì bāo… zhǐ ná yì bāo!
He's asleep! I'll take one bag… just one!
- Narrator 杰克拿起一包金子，跑到魔豆那儿，快快地往下爬。
Jiékè ná qǐ yì bāo jīnzi, pǎo dào módòu nàr, kuàikuài de wǎng xià pá.
Jack picked up a bag of gold, ran to the beanstalk and climbed down as fast as he could.
- Jack 妈妈！妈妈！你看，我拿回来什么了！
Māma! Māma! Nǐ kàn, wǒ ná huílái shénme le!
Mother! Mother! Look what I've brought home!
- Jack's Mother 我的天啊！金子！杰克，这是哪儿来的？
Wǒ de tiān a! Jīnzi! Jiékè, zhè shì nǎr lái de?
Oh my heavens! Gold! Jack, where did this come from?
- Jack 天上有一个巨人！他有很多很多金子！
Tiānshàng yǒu yí gè jùrén! Tā yǒu hěn duō hěn duō jīnzi!
There's a giant up in the sky! He has lots and lots of gold!
- Jack's Mother 巨人？！杰克，你不能再去了！
Jùrén?! Jiékè, nǐ bù néng zài qù le!
A giant?! Jack, you must never go up there again!
- Narrator 这时候，在云上边，巨人起来了。
Zhè shíhou, zài yún shàngbian, jùrén qǐlái le.
Just then, up above the clouds, the giant woke up.
- The Giant 老婆！我的金子少了一包！闻一闻……有小孩来过！
Lǎopo! Wǒ de jīnzi shǎo le yì bāo! Wén yi wén… yǒu xiǎohái lái guo!
Wife! One of my bags of gold is gone! Sniff, sniff… a child has been here!
