Tā pángbiān shì shéi? Qízhe hēi mǎ, hǎo piàoliang a!
Who's that beside him? On a black horse, and so beautiful!
- Jane Eyre
Yòu gāo yòu piàoliang… tā yídìng shì Yīnggélāmǔ xiǎojie.
Tall and beautiful... She must be Miss Ingram.
- Adele
Xiǎojie, xiānsheng huì gēn tā jiéhūn ma?
Miss, is Mr. Rochester going to marry her?
- Jane Eyre
Zhè shì xiānsheng de shì, Ādài'ěr. Kuài qù chuān nǐ de xīn yīfu ba.
That's Mr. Rochester's business, Adele. Hurry and put on your new dress.
Nà tiān wǎnshang, kètīng li zuò mǎn le kèrén. Jiǎn jìngjìng de zuò zài chuānghu pángbiān.
That evening the drawing room was full of guests. Jane sat quietly by the window.
Dàjiā kàn wǒ de xīn yīfu! Jīntiān wǎnshang yǒu wǔhuì ma? Wǒ yào tiàowǔ!
Everyone, look at my new dress! Is there a ball tonight? I want to dance!
- Blanche Ingram
Luóqièsītè xiānsheng, nǐ wèishénme bú sòng tā qù xuéxiào?
Mr. Rochester, why don't you send her to school?
Xuéxiào tài guì le, wǒ sòng bu qǐ. Tā yǒu jiātíng jiàoshī.
School costs too much. I can't afford it. She has a governess.
- Blanche Ingram
Jiātíng jiàoshī? Shì chuānghu pángbiān nàge rén ma?
A governess? Is that the person by the window?
- Blanche Ingram
Wǒ zuì bù xǐhuan jiātíng jiàoshī le! Wǒ xiǎo shíhou yǒuguo hǎo jǐ gè, yòu chǒu yòu bèn.
I can't stand governesses! I had several when I was little, and they were all ugly and stupid.
- Blanche Ingram
Māma, nǐ hái jìde ma? Wǒmen tiāntiān ràng tāmen kū!
Mother, do you remember? We made them cry every day!
Yīnggélāmǔ fūrén, nǐ de nǚ'ér zhēn huì shuōhuà.
Lady Ingram, your daughter certainly has a way with words.
- Adele
Nín kàn Yīnggélāmǔ fūrén de yīfu, zhēn hǎokàn!
Look at Lady Ingram's dress. It's so lovely!
- Jane Eyre
Tāmen shuō de nàme dàshēng, shì xiǎng ràng wǒ tīngjiàn ba.
They talk so loudly. They must want me to hear.
- Blanche Ingram
Bù shuō tāmen le. Luóqièsītè xiānsheng, lái, chàng gē! Wǒ yào tīng nǐ chàng.
Enough about them. Mr. Rochester, come and sing! I want to hear you.
- Jane Eyre
Tā chàng de zhēn hǎotīng. Kěshì tā shì chàng gěi tā tīng de.
He sings beautifully. But he's singing for her.
- Jane Eyre
Wǒ háishi zǒu ba. Méiyǒu rén huì kànjiàn wǒ.
I'd better go. No one will see me.
- Narrator
Jiǎn zǒu chū kètīng. Zài lóutī kǒu, yǒu rén jiàozhù le tā.
Jane slipped out of the drawing room. At the foot of the stairs, someone stopped her.
- Mr. Rochester
Jiǎn! Nǐ wèishénme bú guòlai gēn wǒ shuōhuà?
Jane! Why didn't you come over and talk to me?
- Jane Eyre
Nín zài gēn kèrén shuōhuà, xiānsheng.
You were talking with your guests, sir.
Nǐ de liǎn zěnme zhème bái? Shì bu shì nà tiān yèli shuǐ tài lěng, nǐ shēngbìng le?
Why are you so pale? Was the water too cold that night? Did it make you ill?
- Jane Eyre
Méiyǒu, xiānsheng. Wǒ hěn hǎo.
No, sir. I'm fine.
- Mr. Rochester
Nǐ bù hǎo. Nǐ de yǎnjing li yǒu yǎnlèi.
You're not fine. There are tears in your eyes.
- Jane Eyre
Nà bú shì yǎnlèi, xiānsheng. Kètīng li tài rè le.
Those aren't tears, sir. The drawing room is too warm.
Hǎo ba. Kěshì kèrén zài de zhèxiē tiān, nǐ wǎnshang dōu yào lái kètīng.
All right. But while the guests are here, you're to come to the drawing room every evening.
