On a June evening Jane walks home to Thornfield and finds Mr. Rochester sitting by the road. Two happy weeks pass. Then he asks her to come and see the chestnut tree.

Someone by the road is writing in a little book... it's Mr. Rochester!

Well, look who's back! No carriage, just walking home alone, like a ghost!

- Jane Eyre 她死了，先生。
Tā sǐ le, xiānsheng.
She died, sir.
- Mr. Rochester 是吗……你一定很累了。
Shì ma… nǐ yídìng hěn lèi le.
Is that so... You must be very tired.
- Mr. Rochester 一个月没见，你一点儿也不想我吧？
Yí gè yuè méi jiàn, nǐ yìdiǎnr yě bù xiǎng wǒ ba?
A whole month away, and you didn't miss me one bit, I suppose?
- Jane Eyre 先生，您在写什么？
Xiānsheng, nín zài xiě shénme?
Sir, what are you writing?
- Mr. Rochester 秘密。别问，先回答我的问题。
Mìmì. Bié wèn, xiān huídá wǒ de wèntí.
A secret. Don't ask. Answer my question first.

Sir, it's strange... I never thought I'd be this glad to be back here.

Wherever you are is my home. It's the only home I have.

Heavens, why did I say that out loud!
- Mr. Rochester 过去吧，小简。回家去吧，好好休息。
Guòqù ba, Xiǎo Jiǎn. Huí jiā qù ba, hǎohǎo xiūxi.
Pass, Janet. Go on home and get some rest.

Two weeks went by. Mr. Rochester was kinder to Jane than ever.

He never speaks of the wedding, or of Miss Ingram. Why is that?

One summer evening, as dark came on, Jane was walking alone in the garden.

Jiǎn! Nǐ yě zài zhèr? Lái, wǒmen qù kànkan nà kē dà lìzi shù.
Jane! You're out here too? Come, let's go and look at the big chestnut tree.

This chestnut tree is so old. There's even a bench under it.
- Mr. Rochester 坐吧，简。我有一件事要告诉你。我很快就要结婚了。
Zuò ba, Jiǎn. Wǒ yǒu yí jiàn shì yào gàosu nǐ. Wǒ hěn kuài jiù yào jiéhūn le.
Sit down, Jane. I have something to tell you. I'm going to be married soon.
- Jane Eyre 是吗，先生？那阿黛尔应该去上学，我也应该走了。
Shì ma, xiānsheng? Nà Ādài'ěr yīnggāi qù shàngxué, wǒ yě yīnggāi zǒu le.
Are you, sir? Then Adele should go to school, and I should go too.
- Mr. Rochester 你说得对。别担心，我已经给你找到了新的工作。

You're right. Don't worry, I've already found you a new post.

Zài Ài'ěrlán. Nà jiā de tàitai yǒu wǔ gè xiǎo nǚ'ér, tāmen yídìng huì hěn xǐhuan nǐ.
In Ireland. The lady there has five little daughters. I'm sure they'll love you.
- Jane Eyre 爱尔兰……那么远。
Ài'ěrlán… nàme yuǎn.
Ireland... so far away.
- Mr. Rochester 很远，小简。你去了那儿，我就再也不会见到你了。
Hěn yuǎn, Xiǎo Jiǎn. Nǐ qù le nàr, wǒ jiù zài yě bú huì jiàndào nǐ le.
Very far, Janet. Once you go there, I'll never see you again.
