On St. John's last evening at home he reads from God's book with his eyes on Jane, and for once his voice is gentle. Near midnight, Jane is closer to yes than ever.

That evening the family sat together. St. John took up God's book and read its last pages.

God will give us a new heaven and a new earth.

But the fearful, and those who do not believe in God, will go down to hell.

St. John, you pray far longer for Jane than you ever do for us.

Jane, I've been too cold to you these last days. I don't want to hurt you anymore.

St. John... you're different tonight.

I am your cousin, and your friend. I only want you to be all right.
- Jane Eyre 月光这么亮，他的脸也不冷了。他冷的时候，我能说不。现在，我说不出来了。
Yuèguāng zhème liàng, tā de liǎn yě bù lěng le. Tā lěng de shíhou, wǒ néng shuō bù. Xiànzài, wǒ shuō bu chūlai le.
The moonlight is so bright, and his face isn't cold anymore. When he was cold, I could say no. Now I can't say it.
- St. John 简，跟我去印度吧。传教士的路很难，可是上帝会帮我们。
Jiǎn, gēn wǒ qù Yìndù ba. Chuánjiàoshì de lù hěn nán, kěshì Shàngdì huì bāng wǒmen.
Jane, come to India with me. A missionary's road is hard, but God will help us.

Shèng Yuēhàn, rúguǒ wǒ zhīdào zhè shì Shàngdì yào wǒ zuò de, wǒ xiànzài jiù jià gěi nǐ.
St. John, if I knew this was what God wants of me, I would marry you right now.
- St. John 好，简。我们一起求上帝。
Hǎo, Jiǎn. Wǒmen yìqǐ qiú Shàngdì.
Good, Jane. Let us pray to God together.

St. John laid his hand on Jane's head.

God, please show me: which road should I take?

It was Monday night, nearly midnight. The room was very still, and the floor was full of moonlight.
- Mr. Rochester 简！简！简！
Jiǎn! Jiǎn! Jiǎn!
Jane! Jane! Jane!
- Jane Eyre 这是……罗切斯特先生的声音！是他！
Zhè shì… Luóqièsītè xiānsheng de shēngyīn! Shì tā!
That's... Mr. Rochester's voice! It's him!
- St. John 简，你怎么了？你听见什么了？
Jiǎn, nǐ zěnme le? Nǐ tīngjiàn shénme le?
Jane, what is it? What did you hear?
- Jane Eyre 你没有听见吗？有人在叫我！
Nǐ méiyǒu tīngjiàn ma? Yǒu rén zài jiào wǒ!
Didn't you hear it? Someone is calling me!
- St. John 我什么也没有听见。这个房间里只有我们两个人。
Wǒ shénme yě méiyǒu tīngjiàn. Zhège fángjiān li zhǐyǒu wǒmen liǎng gè rén.
I heard nothing. There is no one in this room but the two of us.
- Jane Eyre 那个声音不在房间里，也不在花园里……可是我听见了！
Nàge shēngyīn bú zài fángjiān li, yě bú zài huāyuán li… kěshì wǒ tīngjiàn le!
That voice wasn't in the room, or in the garden... but I heard it!
- Narrator 简跑到门口，打开门。花园里都是月光，一个人也没有。
Jiǎn pǎo dào ménkǒu, dǎkāi mén. Huāyuán li dōu shì yuèguāng, yí gè rén yě méiyǒu.
Jane ran to the door and opened it. The garden was full of moonlight, and there was no one there.
- Jane Eyre 我来了，等着我！你在哪儿？
Wǒ lái le, děngzhe wǒ! Nǐ zài nǎr?
I'm coming! Wait for me! Where are you?
