Smoke pours from Mr. Rochester's room and he won't wake. Jane is alone with the flames, and minutes ago someone in the house was laughing.

It was two in the morning, and Mr. Rochester's room was full of smoke.

Sir, wake up! The bed is all on fire!
- Jane Eyre 他叫不醒……水！桌子上有水！

He won't wake... Water! There's water on the table!

Not a flood, sir. A fire!

Jiǎn Ài? Shì nǐ ma? Wǒ shēn shang zěnme dōu shì shuǐ?
Jane Eyre? Is that you? Why am I soaking wet?
- Jane Eyre 我听见门外有奇怪的笑声，还有人去了三楼。
Wǒ tīngjiàn mén wài yǒu qíguài de xiàoshēng, hái yǒu rén qù le sān lóu.
I heard a strange laugh outside my door, and someone went up to the third floor.
- Jane Eyre 我开门一看，地上有蜡烛，烟是从您房间里出来的！

When I opened my door, there was a candle on the floor, and the smoke was coming from your room!

Wait here, and don't call anyone. Give me the candle. I'm going up to the third floor.

Jane, that laugh. Have you heard it before?
- Jane Eyre 我听过，先生。很像格蕾丝的笑声。

I have, sir. It sounds a lot like Grace's laugh.
- Mr. Rochester 格蕾丝·普尔……对，你说对了。这是我们的秘密，谁也别告诉。
Gélěisī Pǔ'ěr… duì, nǐ shuō duì le. Zhè shì wǒmen de mìmì, shéi yě bié gàosu.
Grace Poole... Yes, you're right. This is our secret. Don't tell anyone.
- Mr. Rochester 简，把两只手都给我。要不是你，我早就死了。
Jiǎn, bǎ liǎng zhī shǒu dōu gěi wǒ. Yàobúshì nǐ, wǒ zǎojiù sǐ le.
Jane, give me both your hands. If it weren't for you, I'd be dead by now.
- Jane Eyre 先生，不是我，是水。
Xiānsheng, bú shì wǒ, shì shuǐ.
Sir, it wasn't me. It was the water.
- Mr. Rochester 又是这句话！上次是冰，这次是水。
Yòu shì zhè jù huà! Shàng cì shì bīng, zhè cì shì shuǐ.
That again! Last time it was the ice, and this time it's the water.
- Narrator 第二天早上，罗切斯特先生的房间里坐着一个女人。

The next morning, a woman was sitting in Mr. Rochester's room.
- Jane Eyre 格蕾丝？你在这儿做什么？

Grace? What are you doing here?
- Grace Poole 主人睡觉的时候，蜡烛还亮着，床就着火了。我在给他做新的床单。
Zhǔrén shuìjiào de shíhou, làzhú hái liàngzhe, chuáng jiù zháohuǒ le. Wǒ zài gěi tā zuò xīn de chuángdān.
The master went to sleep with his candle still lit, and the bed caught fire. I'm making new sheets for him.
- Grace Poole 小姐，昨天夜里，您听见什么了吗？
Xiǎojie, zuótiān yèli, nín tīngjiàn shénme le ma?
Miss, did you hear anything last night?
- Jane Eyre 我听见有人在笑。
Wǒ tīngjiàn yǒu rén zài xiào.
I heard someone laughing.
- Grace Poole 是吗？您是做梦了吧。晚上睡觉以前，您最好把门锁上。
Shì ma? Nín shì zuòmèng le ba. Wǎnshang shuìjiào yǐqián, nín zuìhǎo bǎ mén suǒ shàng.
Did you? You must have been dreaming. Before you go to sleep at night, you'd better lock your door.
- Jane Eyre 她一点儿也不怕。罗切斯特先生为什么不让她走？
Tā yìdiǎnr yě bú pà. Luóqièsītè xiānsheng wèishénme bú ràng tā zǒu?
She isn't the least bit afraid. Why doesn't Mr. Rochester send her away?
- Mrs. Fairfax 爱小姐，先生一早就去了一个有钱的朋友家。那儿有舞会！
Ài xiǎojie, xiānsheng yì zǎo jiù qù le yí gè yǒu qián de péngyou jiā. Nàr yǒu wǔhuì!
Miss Eyre, the master went off first thing this morning to a rich friend's house. There's a ball there!
- Jane Eyre 舞会？他什么时候回来？
Wǔhuì? Tā shénme shíhou huílai?
A ball? When will he be back?
- Mrs. Fairfax 谁知道呢？那儿有一位布兰奇·英格拉姆小姐，又高又漂亮。
Shéi zhīdào ne? Nàr yǒu yí wèi Bùlánqí Yīnggélāmǔ xiǎojie, yòu gāo yòu piàoliang.
Who knows? There's a Miss Blanche Ingram there, tall and very beautiful.
- Mrs. Fairfax 大家都说，先生会跟她结婚。
Dàjiā dōu shuō, xiānsheng huì gēn tā jiéhūn.
Everyone says the master will marry her.
- Jane Eyre 简·爱，拿起笔来。先画自己：没有家，没有钱，长得丑。
Jiǎn Ài, ná qǐ bǐ lái. Xiān huà zìjǐ: méiyǒu jiā, méiyǒu qián, zhǎng de chǒu.
Jane Eyre, pick up your pencil. First draw yourself: no home, no money, and ugly.
- Jane Eyre 再画英格拉姆小姐：又高又漂亮，又有钱。简·爱，别做梦了！
Zài huà Yīnggélāmǔ xiǎojie: yòu gāo yòu piàoliang, yòu yǒu qián. Jiǎn Ài, bié zuòmèng le!
Then draw Miss Ingram: tall, beautiful and rich. Jane Eyre, stop dreaming!
- Mrs. Fairfax 两个星期了！爱小姐，先生写信来了，他三天以后回来！
Liǎng gè xīngqī le! Ài xiǎojie, xiānsheng xiě xìn lái le, tā sān tiān yǐhòu huílai!
Two weeks! Miss Eyre, the master has written. He's coming home in three days!
- Mrs. Fairfax 还有很多客人！我这个管家要忙死了。英格拉姆小姐也来！
Hái yǒu hěn duō kèrén! Wǒ zhège guǎnjiā yào máng sǐ le. Yīnggélāmǔ xiǎojie yě lái!
And lots of guests! As housekeeper, I'll be rushed off my feet. Miss Ingram is coming too!
