As the sun went down, Wukong came home to Flower Fruit Mountain.
- Little Monkey 大王回来了！大王，你拿的是什么？
Dàwáng huílái le! Dàwáng, nǐ ná de shì shénme?
The king is back! Your Majesty, what's that you're holding?
- Sun Wukong 这是东海龙王的宝贝，金箍棒！你们看！
Zhè shì Dōng Hǎi Lóngwáng de bǎobèi, jīn gū bàng! Nǐmen kàn!
It's the Dragon King's treasure, the Golden-Hoop Staff! Watch this!
- Sun Wukong 大！大！再大！
Dà! Dà! Zài dà!
Bigger! Bigger! Bigger still!
- Little Monkey 啊！金箍棒跟山一样高了！到天上去了！
A! Jīn gū bàng gēn shān yíyàng gāo le! Dào tiānshàng qù le!
Ahh! The staff's as tall as a mountain! It reaches right up into the sky!
- Old Monkey 大王，太大了！我们都怕！
Dàwáng, tài dà le! Wǒmen dōu pà!
Your Majesty, it's too big! We're all scared!
- Sun Wukong 好，好！小一点儿，再小一点儿！
Hǎo, hǎo! Xiǎo yìdiǎnr, zài xiǎo yìdiǎnr!
All right, all right! A little smaller, a little smaller still!
- Narrator 那天晚上，猴子们一起吃，一起喝，一起唱歌。
Nà tiān wǎnshang, hóuzimen yìqǐ chī, yìqǐ hē, yìqǐ chànggē.
That night, the monkeys ate, drank and sang together.
- Old Monkey 今天我太高兴了！我也要喝一杯！
Jīntiān wǒ tài gāoxìng le! Wǒ yě yào hē yì bēi!
I'm so happy today! I'll have a cup too!
- Old Monkey 这杯酒，给我们的美猴王！
Zhè bēi jiǔ, gěi wǒmen de Měi Hóuwáng!
This cup is for our Handsome Monkey King!
- Sun Wukong 爷爷，谢谢你。没有你，我不会去找师父。
Yéye, xièxie nǐ. Méiyǒu nǐ, wǒ bú huì qù zhǎo shīfu.
Thank you, Grandpa. Without you, I'd never have gone to find my master.
- Little Monkey 美猴王！美猴王！
Měi Hóuwáng! Měi Hóuwáng!
Handsome Monkey King! Handsome Monkey King!
- Little Monkey 大王，金箍棒很大很大，你睡觉的时候，放在哪儿？
Dàwáng, jīn gū bàng hěn dà hěn dà, nǐ shuìjiào de shíhou, fàng zài nǎr?
Your Majesty, your staff is so big. Where do you put it when you go to sleep?
- Sun Wukong 你看！小，小，再小……
Nǐ kàn! Xiǎo, xiǎo, zài xiǎo…
Watch! Small, smaller, smaller still…
- Sun Wukong 现在，像针一样小了！我放在耳朵里！
Xiànzài, xiàng zhēn yíyàng xiǎo le! Wǒ fàng zài ěrduo lǐ!
Now it's as small as a needle! I keep it in my ear!
- Little Monkey 耳朵里？大王真好玩儿！
Ěrduo lǐ? Dàwáng zhēn hǎowánr!
In your ear? You're so funny, Your Majesty!
- Old Monkey 大王，你拿了龙王的宝贝……龙王会不会生气？
Dàwáng, nǐ ná le Lóngwáng de bǎobèi… Lóngwáng huì bú huì shēngqì?
Your Majesty, you took the Dragon King's treasure… won't he be angry?
- Sun Wukong 生气？让他生气吧！我是美猴王，我什么都不怕！
Shēngqì? Ràng tā shēngqì ba! Wǒ shì Měi Hóuwáng, wǒ shénme dōu bú pà!
Angry? Let him be angry! I'm the Handsome Monkey King. I'm not afraid of anything!
- Narrator 这时候，在很高很高的天上，东海龙王正在说话。
Zhè shíhou, zài hěn gāo hěn gāo de tiānshàng, Dōng Hǎi Lóngwáng zhèngzài shuōhuà.
At that very moment, high, high up in heaven, the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea was speaking.
- Dragon King of the Eastern Sea 玉皇大帝！花果山有一只猴子，拿了我的宝贝！
Yùhuáng Dàdì! Huāguǒ Shān yǒu yì zhī hóuzi, ná le wǒ de bǎobèi!
Jade Emperor! A monkey from Flower Fruit Mountain has taken my treasure!
- Narrator 玉皇大帝看着下边的花果山，想了很久很久……
Yùhuáng Dàdì kànzhe xiàbian de Huāguǒ Shān, xiǎng le hěn jiǔ hěn jiǔ…
The Jade Emperor looked down at Flower Fruit Mountain and thought for a long, long time…
