On the hot road over Yellow Wind Ridge, Bajie gets his first chance to show what he can do, but the tiger they meet has a clever trick of its own.

Hǎo rè a! Wùkōng, qiánbian shì shénme shān?
It's so hot! Wukong, what mountain is that ahead?
- Sun Wukong 师父，那是黄风岭。山很高，路不好走。
Shīfu, nà shì Huángfēng Lǐng. Shān hěn gāo, lù bù hǎo zǒu.
Master, that's Yellow Wind Ridge. The mountain is high and the road is rough.
- Zhu Bajie 老猪拿着这么多东西，又热又饿……哥哥，你也拿一点儿吧！
Lǎo Zhū ná zhe zhème duō dōngxi, yòu rè yòu è… gēge, nǐ yě ná yìdiǎnr ba!
Old Zhu is carrying all this stuff, and he's hot and hungry. Brother, you carry some too!

Dāizi, Lǎo Sūn yào bǎohù shīfu, méiyǒu shǒu ná dōngxi!
Idiot, Old Sun has to guard our master. He has no hands free for bags!
- Zhu Bajie 胡说！你的两只手，什么都没拿！
Húshuō! Nǐ de liǎng zhī shǒu, shénme dōu méi ná!
Nonsense! Both your hands are empty!
- Tang Seng 好大的风！
Hǎo dà de fēng!
What a wind!
- Sun Wukong 这风，让老孙抓过来闻一闻……这不是老虎的风，是妖怪的风！
Zhè fēng, ràng Lǎo Sūn zhuā guòlai wén yi wén… zhè bú shì lǎohǔ de fēng, shì yāoguài de fēng!
This wind... let Old Sun grab it and sniff it... This isn't a tiger's wind, it's a demon's wind!
- Narrator 一只老虎跳了出来，拿掉自己的虎皮，大叫：“我是黄风大王的虎先锋！”
Yì zhī lǎohǔ tiào le chūlai, ná diào zìjǐ de hǔpí, dà jiào: “Wǒ shì Huángfēng Dàwáng de Hǔ Xiānfēng!”
A tiger leaped out, pulled off its own tiger skin and roared, “I am the Yellow Wind King's Tiger Vanguard!”
- Zhu Bajie 哥哥，你别动！让老猪先打，给师父看看我的本领！
Gēge, nǐ bié dòng! Ràng Lǎo Zhū xiān dǎ, gěi shīfu kànkan wǒ de běnlǐng!
Brother, don't move! Let Old Zhu fight first and show our master what he can do!
- Sun Wukong 好！呆子，去吧！
Hǎo! Dāizi, qù ba!
All right! Off you go, idiot!
- Tang Seng 你们去打……我坐在路边念心经。
Nǐmen qù dǎ… wǒ zuò zài lùbiān niàn Xīnjīng.
You two go and fight... I'll sit by the road and read the Heart Sutra.
- Zhu Bajie 老虎！看钉耙！
Lǎohǔ! Kàn dīngpá!
Tiger! Here comes my rake!
- Sun Wukong 打得好，呆子！老孙也来了！
Dǎ de hǎo, dāizi! Lǎo Sūn yě lái le!
Nice hit, idiot! Old Sun's coming too!
- Narrator 虎先锋打不过他们两个，往山下跑。
Hǔ Xiānfēng dǎ bu guò tāmen liǎng gè, wǎng shān xià pǎo.
The Tiger Vanguard couldn't beat the two of them and ran off down the mountain.
- Zhu Bajie 别跑！哥哥，追！
Bié pǎo! Gēge, zhuī!
Don't run! After him, brother!
- Tang Seng 我念心经，我不怕……啊！风又来了！
Wǒ niàn Xīnjīng, wǒ bú pà… a! Fēng yòu lái le!
I'm reading the Heart Sutra, I'm not afraid... Ah! The wind again!
- Zhu Bajie 哥哥，你看！老虎在那儿，不动了！打！
Gēge, nǐ kàn! Lǎohǔ zài nàr, bú dòng le! Dǎ!
Look, brother! The tiger's over there, and it isn't moving! Hit it!
- Sun Wukong 不对！虎皮下边，是一块石头！
Bú duì! Hǔpí xiàbian, shì yí kuài shítou!
Wait! There's only a rock under the tiger skin!
- Zhu Bajie 石头？那老虎呢？
Shítou? Nà lǎohǔ ne?
A rock? Then where's the tiger?
- Sun Wukong 我们上当了！师父！快回去！
Wǒmen shàngdàng le! Shīfu! Kuài huíqu!
We've been tricked! Master! Quick, back!
- Narrator 他们跑回路边。白马还在，东西还在，唐僧不见了。
Tāmen pǎo huí lùbiān. Bái mǎ hái zài, dōngxi hái zài, Táng Sēng bú jiàn le.
They ran back to the roadside. The white horse was still there, and the bags too, but Tang Seng was gone.
- Zhu Bajie 师父不见了！天哪！天哪！我们怎么去西天？
Shīfu bú jiàn le! Tiān na! Tiān na! Wǒmen zěnme qù Xītiān?
Master's gone! Oh no! Oh no! How will we ever get to the Western Heaven?
- Sun Wukong 那只老虎留下虎皮，自己变成风，回来抓走了师父！
Nà zhī lǎohǔ liúxià hǔpí, zìjǐ biànchéng fēng, huílai zhuā zǒu le shīfu!
That tiger left its skin behind, turned itself into wind, and came back to snatch our master!
- Zhu Bajie 哥哥，我们上当了……你的火眼金睛，怎么没看出来？
Gēge, wǒmen shàngdàng le… nǐ de huǒyǎn jīnjīng, zěnme méi kàn chūlai?
Brother, we've been fooled... How come your fiery golden eyes didn't see through it?
- Sun Wukong 你胡说什么！呆子，你在这里等着。老孙去找师父！
Nǐ húshuō shénme! Dāizi, nǐ zài zhèlǐ děng zhe. Lǎo Sūn qù zhǎo shīfu!
What nonsense! Idiot, you wait here. Old Sun is going to find our master!
- Narrator 黄风洞里，小妖们大叫：“大王！虎先锋抓来了一个和尚！”
Huángfēng Dòng lǐ, xiǎoyāomen dà jiào: “Dàwáng! Hǔ Xiānfēng zhuā lái le yí gè héshang!”
In Yellow Wind Cave the little demons shouted, “Sire! The Tiger Vanguard has caught a monk!”
- the Yellow Wind King 这是去西天取经的和尚？好白！一定很好吃！
Zhè shì qù Xītiān qǔjīng de héshang? Hǎo bái! Yídìng hěn hǎochī!
So this is the monk going to the Western Heaven for the scriptures? So pale! He must taste good!
- Tang Seng 悟空……八戒……你们在哪儿……
Wùkōng… Bājiè… nǐmen zài nǎr…
Wukong... Bajie... where are you...
- the Yellow Wind King 悟空？他的徒弟是孙悟空？先别吃他！
Wùkōng? Tā de túdì shì Sūn Wùkōng? Xiān bié chī tā!
Wukong? His disciple is Sun Wukong? Don't eat him yet!
- Narrator 小妖们问：“大王，那什么时候煮？”
Xiǎoyāomen wèn: “Dàwáng, nà shénme shíhou zhǔ?”
The little demons asked, “Sire, when do we cook him, then?”
- the Yellow Wind King 三天！三天以后没人来，就把他煮了吃！
Sān tiān! Sān tiān yǐhòu méi rén lái, jiù bǎ tā zhǔ le chī!
Three days! If nobody comes in three days, we boil him and eat him!
