In the spring of the eleventh year, Mulan fell ill. She lay in bed, burning with fever.
- Mulan 好热……好累……我不能病，我不能病……
Hǎo rè… hǎo lèi… wǒ bù néng bìng, wǒ bù néng bìng…
So hot… so tired… I can't be sick. I can't be sick…
- Captain Li 花将军！你的脸怎么这么白？我去叫医生！
Huā jiāngjūn! Nǐ de liǎn zěnme zhème bái? Wǒ qù jiào yīshēng!
General Hua! Why are you so pale? I'm getting the doctor!
- Mulan 不要！李大哥……不要叫医生。
Bú yào! Lǐ dàgē… bú yào jiào yīshēng.
No! Captain Li… don't call the doctor.
- Captain Li 为什么？你病得这么重！
Wèishénme? Nǐ bìng de zhème zhòng!
Why not? You're really sick!
- Mulan 我从小就怕医生……李大哥，你帮帮我。
Wǒ cóngxiǎo jiù pà yīshēng… Lǐ dàgē, nǐ bāngbang wǒ.
I've been afraid of doctors since I was little… Captain Li, please help me.
- Captain Li 好。我不叫。我就站在门口，谁也别想进来。
Hǎo. Wǒ bú jiào. Wǒ jiù zhàn zài ménkǒu, shéi yě bié xiǎng jìnlái.
All right. I won't call him. I'll stand right at the door, and nobody gets in.
- Narrator 可是那天下午，军医自己来了。
Kěshì nà tiān xiàwǔ, jūnyī zìjǐ lái le.
But that afternoon, the army doctor came anyway.
- Army doctor 听说花将军病了？让我进去看看。
Tīngshuō Huā jiāngjūn bìng le? Ràng wǒ jìnqù kànkan.
I hear General Hua is sick? Let me in to take a look.
- Captain Li 不行！谁也不能进去！
Bù xíng! Shéi yě bù néng jìnqù!
No! Nobody goes in!
- Army doctor 我是医生啊！
Wǒ shì yīshēng a!
But I'm the doctor!
- Captain Li 医生也不行！我们花将军最怕医生，一看见医生，病就更重了！
Yīshēng yě bù xíng! Wǒmen Huā jiāngjūn zuì pà yīshēng, yí kànjiàn yīshēng, bìng jiù gèng zhòng le!
Especially not doctors! Our General Hua is terrified of them. One look at a doctor and he gets even sicker!
- Army doctor 哪有这样的将军？
Nǎ yǒu zhèyàng de jiāngjūn?
What kind of general is afraid of doctors?
- Captain Li 你把药给我，我给他吃。
Nǐ bǎ yào gěi wǒ, wǒ gěi tā chī.
Give me the medicine, and I'll make sure he takes it.
- Army doctor 好吧，好吧……一天三次，别忘了！
Hǎo ba, hǎo ba… yì tiān sān cì, bié wàng le!
Fine, fine… Three times a day. Don't forget!
- Mulan 李大哥为什么不问我？他……知道了吗？
Lǐ dàgē wèishénme bú wèn wǒ? Tā… zhīdào le ma?
Why doesn't Captain Li ask me anything? Does he… know?
- Narrator 三天以后，木兰的病好了。
Sān tiān yǐhòu, Mùlán de bìng hǎo le.
Three days later, Mulan was well again.
- Mulan 李大哥，谢谢你。这三天，你一直站在门口？
Lǐ dàgē, xièxie nǐ. Zhè sān tiān, nǐ yìzhí zhàn zài ménkǒu?
Captain Li, thank you. Did you really stand at the door for three whole days?
- Captain Li 当然！我就是你的门神！哈哈！
Dāngrán! Wǒ jiù shì nǐ de ménshén! Hāhā!
Of course! I'm your very own door god! Ha ha!
- Mulan 你……没有什么想问我的吗？
Nǐ… méiyǒu shénme xiǎng wèn wǒ de ma?
Isn't there… anything you want to ask me?
- Captain Li 问什么？你怕医生，我就不让医生进来。兄弟的事，不用问。
Wèn shénme? Nǐ pà yīshēng, wǒ jiù bú ràng yīshēng jìnlái. Xiōngdì de shì, bú yòng wèn.
Ask what? You're scared of doctors, so I kept the doctor out. Between brothers, there's no need to ask.
- Captain Li 快好起来吧。听说今年冬天，敌人还要来，比以前多很多。
Kuài hǎo qǐlái ba. Tīngshuō jīnnián dōngtiān, dírén hái yào lái, bǐ yǐqián duō hěn duō.
Hurry up and get strong. Word is the enemy's coming again this winter, more of them than ever.
- Mulan 让他们来吧。这一次，我们要让他们再也不敢来！
Ràng tāmen lái ba. Zhè yí cì, wǒmen yào ràng tāmen zài yě bù gǎn lái!
Let them come. This time, we'll make sure they never dare come back!
